This management group had done a fantastic job of rebuilding our pool of D prospects in the past 12 months:
Johannson- Non Qualifier
Hirose- NCAA
McWard- NCAA
Kudryavtsev- 2022 Draft
Walinder- 2023 Draft
Mynio- 2023 Draft
Brzustewicz- 2023 Draft
Celebrini- 2023 Draft
Obviously not all are going to pan out, but adding 8 young D to what was a pretty empty pool is some great work.
Not to mention D-Petey....

Canucks take Hunter Brzustewicz.
Nice pick! Promising player who played for the USNTDP before Kitchener. Hockey News had him ranked 43rd.

Hypothetical doing a thing:
Canucks and Capitals re-visit a JT Miller trade after it was already heavily rumoured at the last draft.
To Van:
8th overall
Hendrix Lapierre or Connor McMichael
Vincent Iorio
To Wash:
11th overall
Jt Miller
Jack Rathbone
Also random prediction:
Matthew Wood will be this years Matt Boldy and we will be kicking ourselfs for not drafting him. He's 6'4", can play center, from Nanaimo. He also put up a PPG as the youngest player in all of college hockey. He's also the first 17/18 year old to put up a point per game in college hockey since Jonathan Toews. Honestly feel like were going to miss out.
What? Wasn't Adam Fantilli in college hockey? Or is that considered University hockey and it's different?

Makes one wonder what Boston is up to...they traded 3 wingers for 3 defensemen...curiouser and curiouser!

Luongo = Bure = H/D. Sedin = Pettersson = Hughes
I don't see how you could argue that any one was/is "better" than the other
We've been fortunate to see several great players wear Canucks colors over the years...

What a great trade!
Got cap off the books and acquired a promising prospect?
Good to see they’re willing to part with bad acquisitions quickly.
Nice to see management recognize that Stillman wasn't working out and doing the right thing and moving on...

Just think, our own Jim Rutherford gave up the 15OA pick to get him back a few years ago
Fill anyone with confidence?
I can picture in my mind exactly how badly Rutherford is fidgeting in his chair right now...

We have a prospect in Abby that has qualities of Bieska and Rypien..
Alex Kannok Leipert .
(id call him the reaper )
two fights one game..
sorry seems parameter settings these days are too sensitive.
but he raises eyebrows, and will if Tochett sees him .
ps. Apparently kid holds a black belt in something.
Watched one of his fights a week ago, definitely one to keep an eye on I think....

All indications are, and Rutherford has said this as well, this kid is likely ready for the NHL right now.
I read an interview with Patrick Alvin awhile back and he said Filip will be on the team next season...they are very high on this guy.

With that said, is it too early to ask who we picking between 5 and 10
I hear they like this Olli Virtanen kid. Looks like a cross between Todd Bertuzzi and Nicklas Lidstrom....

sure but like ive said unless Miller say he's ok to move he ain't moving.. there ain't that many teams that are A a contender, B capspace beyond this year, C Miller willing to go there. boston? bergeron kecji more than likely ain't coming back next season. Pasternak is a question mark next season. half their roster isn't even signed.. are they willing to comit amost 18-19 million of their 26mil cap on pasternak and Miller?? probably not. i wanted Miller moved but i'm prepared for Miller ain't moving unless we retain as most contenders wouldn't have the cap space for Miller beyond this year and stay competitive. only team i can see that kinda fits would be carolina.. and the question will be will miller even want to go there.
He honestly doesn't have any say where he goes. His no trade clause doesn't kick in until his new contract comes into effect. So he kinda opened himself up to an unlimited market and may have done the Canucks management a big favor by signing that deal (Of course it would have been better if his play hadn't been so off this year so far)

lol schenn probably wouldn't even re-sign in the summer given he's fed up with miller's crap
I'm with @aGENTon this. I personally think moving Miller and probably Bo as well is going to be necessary to create the culture shift this team obviously needs. If it was my team I'd be offering Schenn not only an extension (at reasonable dollars) but I'd also offer him the opportunity to be team captain for a couple years while the young core guys concentrate on their development before being saddled with the leadership responsibilities....

Schenn shouldn't be available he has the kind of heart that they need to build on....

Either he's got a new leak source in the organization (and soon some more "whack-a-mole") or he's just tossing faeces at the wall to see what will stick.
I'm thinking it's the latter, given how tight-lipped the organization has been before the recent moves they've made.
Maybe the leak is coming out of Columbus not Van?

Those are two big cap hits. Pass on both.
Well those two contracts would allow Ottawa the room to take on Garlands contract. Not saying trade would be those two for garland just that if they move those two out it becomes doable

The prospects you are talking about were drafted by Benning. How does this give JR/PA the midas touch?
I was thinking of players such as Filip Johansson as well as Bemning's picks.....and quite a few of Benning's picks have taken big steps in the last 6 months.

I am seriously starting to wonder what is happening with all these Canucks D prospects suddenly all looking like legit prospects with some NHL potential. Is the JR/PA combo blessed with the Midas touch? Or is it all a mirage??? Great pass by Truscott...

Stillman 24, 6'1 , 200 lbs -LD Plays tough and will add grit on defence beside Schenn..
From what I have seen I think he's going to be a good addition and potentially a fan favorite. Physical and not afraid to back it up. I am looking forward to seeing how he fits in...

Exactly, or that Luc Bourdon (RIP) would ride a motorcycle, head on into a Semi truck.
Still makes me depressed everytime I think about it...he would have undoubtedly been one of the best Canuck defensemen all time! ☹️

So Detroit is buying out Yamamoto and didn't qualify Kostin...seems kinda shady to me. Watch for a 'Thank You' trade between Edmonton and Detroit in the future....
