  1. Aman Blueger Joshua looks like a pretty good 4th line.
  2. I think rumor has the pieces to work. Beau is quite redundant and likely not someone we are looking to resign. Columbus could use some scoring help as well. We now just need to find a trade partner for Garland and Myers - futures back would be ideal. Hughes Cole Soucy Hronek Hirose Peeke
  3. Your logic allowed me to use an extreme case and not sure how you missed it but it alludes to strength, something the bodybuilder has and the fat man doesnt. So youre saying it doesnt matter how strong you are, someone 10-15 lbs heavier is always going to be able to out hit or out muscle you? also why does Hoglander have to be a checking forward? Hes shown enough that he has the tools, skillset and size to be a top 6 player. He hasnt gotten there but to say that he needs to become a checking forward is awfully short sighted. I understand stand where youre coming from but your argument doesnt make a lot of sense to me. Strength in every sport matters. Its the reason why they have chinups and bench press at combine events. Not sure if youre serious about strength not factoring into body checking. Anyone running at me at same speed, same weight and same height is getting laid out if we collide, unless theyre stronger than I am. Were not going to just bounce off each other and fall down. Youre reaching here. This is devolving into borderline nonsensical. Strength absolutely matters. Id rather have a 5’10 195lb player that can bench 3 plates and leg press 10 plates then 6’1 215lb guy that cant even bench a plate and do 250lbs on the leg press. Youre saying youd rather have the bigger guy? All other things being equal? Id rather have a team full of the smaller guy then the bigger guy. Strength matters in every sport and it always will. Strength can literally be the difference between failure and success at any level and in any sport.
  4. Test 1 If i take a 200lb bodybuilder and a 250lb fat man and send them travelling towards each other, Im betting on the 200lb bodybuilder coming out on top. I think your arguments stands on the principles of physics, just doesnt compute when it comes to sports. Test 2 Two players at 160lb each and 185cm, travelling at 13mph, collide with one another - what happens? They disintegrate? Im willing to bet the stronger guy wins. Strength absolutely means something in hockey. Stronger core, stronger back, stronger legs, you could out muscle bigger guys easy. How do I know? Im 5'11 and 190lbs and when playing basketball, I tend to guard, out of position, the bigger guys on the opposing side. Why? I have extremely strong legs and core. I out muscle them, I out work them, I move better. In soccer, lots of players bigger than I am but I easily hold my own. I didnt use hockey as an example because I dont play hockey. Boston changed how teams built out their roster after their 2011 win. Then it changed to a speed game. Now its back to size and strength because of Vegas. Hoglander isnt that small. He's also freakishly strong. Reminds me almost of Martin St. Louis. He also works his butt off. 5'9 and 185-190lbs. Thats not a small winger my friend, that's a refrigerator on skates. Dont take this the wrong way and with all due respect, im just assuming and possibly making an ass out of myself but it doesnt seem like you play sports. Correct me if im wrong.
  5. Do you realize hes probably one of the strongest guys on the team despite his size? He may be short, but he definitely isnt small or tiny
  6. In essence yes but really we traded a 1st and a 2nd. If we had an extra 1st, Horvat really doenst get brought up when it comes to the trade with Detroit. Horvat simply allowed us to keep our first. Again, Tanev considering his age nets a prospect and a 2nd. Possibly a late 1st if he stays healthy until the TDL and is top 30 or so in defensive metrics. I dont think he gets the haul some are insisting but then again crazier things have happened. That Tanner Jeannot trade still boggles the mind.
  7. Does he get more than Hronek? Its very unlikely. Likely a 2nd and a prospect.
  8. Kuzmenko Pettersson Mikhayev Beuavillier Miller Boeser Garland Blueger Podkolzin Pearson Aman Joshua Hughes Cole Soucy Hronek Hirose Myers Demko Martin First Call ups Hoglander Wolanin Woo
  9. Hughes Cole Soucy Hronek Hirose Myers I think with limited minutes, a calming presence in Hirose as his defense partner, he very well could improve but it will remain difficult to live up to the 6m contract. I hope he sticks around until the TDL so that we can acquire something in return but also not completely against him being traded after his bonus is paid.
  10. Gentleman, "we are all canucks" lol, the only thing that matters is that my trade works and we could get Karlsson at close 5m per. Im sure Karlsson has a lot to teach some of our younger guys including Hughes.
  11. amend that proposal then to 5m retained by SJ and 750k by CHI. Little bit easier to swallow for SJ, cap hit increases for use by 750k. Karlsson at 5.75 is still a steal.
  12. Id put Johansson in with them as well.
  13. I thought it was 1 team could only retain 50% max. Not entirely sure if two teams can retain more combined but i was simply thrown sh*t at the wall to see what stuck lol
  14. Sure I think I can make that work. Hold up, let me cook: To CHI 3rd round pick (from SJ) 3rd round pick (from Van) Garland To SJ Myers To VAN Karlsson retained 1m by CHI and 5.50 by SJ (5m cap hit) Chicago helps retain $750k on Karlsson and receives two 3rds and Garland who can help get them to the cap floor and fill out the roster San Jose gets out from half the Karlsson contract retaining 5.50m, receives a replacement that could be moved at the deadline or let his contract expire Vancouver gets Karlsson at 5m per for 3 more seasons to anchor our 2nd pair whilst Hronek plays top pair with Hughes. We shed
  15. I would love to see them try it out
  16. 100% Hronek over Druzi and 17th. It fits our timeline better. Moore and ASP are atleast 3-4 years away from making the NHL.
  17. 2024 PA will take care of that for sure
  18. This is what stood out for me in the entire draft is that we got insane value for Hunter. From reports he was easily a 2nd round pick but fell to us in the 3rd. We got our 2nd round selection despite trading away our 2nd for Hronek. Great job.
  19. Well when you dont have much outside of Hughes and now Hronek other than prospects that still need to show, everyone with a contract playing for a team in the NHL would be one of our top blueliners. With that being said, im excited for the future. Willander Johansson Pettersson Woo Kudraytsev Hirose McWard
  20. Disagree with you here. Durzi couldnt hold Hronek's jockstrap. Durzi is a border line top 4 defenseman and more suited as a bottom pairing guy. Mikhayev filled a need for us and was great last season despite playing injured. Hes a mobile, fast skater that can play the PK. Podk and Hoglander needed more seasoning in the AHL. Improving in development was a concern for management and they addressed it. No more rushing players to the NHL Willander was BPA on our list at 11. Benson was passed on by 5 other teams before us and 1 after. There is a reason for that. Benson in 5 years even at a ppg star winger will not get you a top pairing RHD that plays 25+ a game and puts up 40-50 points (assuming both reach their ceilings). Point or Marner do not get you Heiskanen, Hughes, Makar, Dahlin, Mcavoy, etc - not 1 for 1 at least. Would you trade Heiskenen for Marner straight across?
  21. Could you imagine? Hughes and Heiskanen (Willander) as the top pairing duo for us
  22. If it weren't for injuries, Juolevi projected as a top 4 d. He had all the tools to reach his potential but injuries ensured that didn't happen. Hopefully Willander remains injury free and tears it up in North America. We could potentially see him in 1.5-2 yrs playing at 6'1-6'3 and 200+ lbs alongside Hughes.
  23. Soucy over Tryamkin. Never really saw the hype about Tryamkin. He has size but really didnt show much in his short stint here. Would rather go after Soucy for 3m/year or so.
