  1. Well if we can get Matthews for JT + Myers + Schenn, then we could afford it!
  2. You're in the wrong thread for that discussion...hope your math is good...esp decimals...
  3. Great. But no I wouldn't use Schenn to get rid of Myers. Keep Schenn or trade him for a decent asset. Not use him as a sweetener. A buy out on Myers makes his cap hit $5.33m next season, so not worth a buy out to just save $667k.
  4. That'd be sweet but not sure if any contending team wants Smith (even at 50%, $1.55m). He has only scored 0.23809524 pts per game this season (am I in the right thread?)
  5. Because Leafs are too close to the cap to do that deal. We would need to retain on Myers and take back someone like Kerfoot. Rather get a really good asset if we are giving up Schenn. Not just use him to move Myers.
  6. This is likely true. So it is those teams from whom we should get a better return for Schenn. My #1 preference would be to TBL in exchange for Foote. I would also be happy with a 2nd round pick. Not sure I want to send him anywhere unless the return is in that ballpark.
  7. Is that thread fractionally better than this one?
  8. If we sign him this season it does matter. Let's say it's a $950k ELC with a $95k signing bonus (max) and $855k salary. Livingstone will get very little actual salary, but the $95k signing bonus is usually the sweetener for these young NCAA players. The signing bonus will be pro rata'ed over the remaining days in the season, so if say 10 days left in the 184 day season, then will be $95k x 184/10 = $1.748m cap hit just for the signing bonus. Add in his $855k salary = $2.6m cap hitting the roster in the last 10 days. Gets worse if its 5 days left in the season, etc. Don't want to use all our space up on bad contracts and miss out on Livingstone. See below...
  9. So just so I have this correct before I put my foot in it...we're NOT allowed to talk about a potential Miller trade in this thread...is that right?
  10. Yeah I would think so too. Still a chance Smith is traded to VAN in order to clear his cap for Gav to join the Bruins though. What's that worth? A late 3rd round pick? Fine by me as long as we have enough cap space to sign Livingstone at the end of the season... (And so then, as per Alf's balls...Schenn for Foote)
  11. I think sending Schenn and taking on a cap dump is worth more than a 3rd. Highly dependent on who the prospect is from BOS. Don't think they have many good ones in their system... What about Schenn + VAN 2023 3rd round pick for Smith + BOS 2023 1st round pick
  12. Absolutely agree. And if we have enough cap space to retain 50%, then we might even get a return on him. Whoever takes on Myers could then retain another 50% (i.e. 25% of $6m) and get whatever they paid for him back at the 2024 TDL. Surely there will be teams looking for a RHD with a $1.5m cap hit?
  13. Yeah well I'm pretty sure crystal sinks in water...
  14. Good point. We should only trade for good players, or young ones with lots of potential. Not old ones like Craig Smith. He's almost done with his career. Also thinking it might be a good idea to trade away our bad players like OEL and Myers.
  15. I like your balls...ahem...ball And may I say, that I hope the new crystal ball is a lot better than the old one!
  16. I think most of CDC is now on team tank. So no, we don't want Demko back playing this season. We* want him to heal up in time for next season and not to play again at all this season. *We = those on team tank
  17. I did not ignore your point. I actually acknowledged your pov and agreed that you are entitled to your opinion, which happens to be different to mine.
  18. There wasn't actually any interest at the time of posting. It wasn't even a rumor.
  19. Yes I am also looking at it from Buffalo's pov too. And in my opinion Boeser is a cost effective upgrade and has potential to be a good long term fit on their roster. Appreciate your opinion is different. Thanks for the discussion. Cheers.
