Maybe.. but Seattle isn't exactly a long ways from home. he could suck it up for one season, on the off chance they picked him. he isn't likely playing after 35 anyways is he?

that'll eliminate half of the $#!tty trade proposals on this forum for ya -
agreed on Meyers, not so much on Karlsson.. I never really watched EK while in OTT, but after watching him closely in the '19 playoffs, he didn't look all that great defensively.. I would give the benefit of the doubt & attribute this to nagging injuries, but his injuries record could start looking Tanev - esque soon. This is what worries me..maybe a couple good years, then having 10 mill tied up in a guy who plays half the season, and will want term too. he's what, 29? he'll want at least 9 x 6 I'd think.. let the Isles and Philly fight over him, we're nowhere near a contender.. not yet.

[Proposal] Van and Edm swap
Glug Datt replied to The_Rocket's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
hmm.. I guess so? Schenn will get a season to prove himself - whether he can be effective for a full season remains to be seen.. Biega is a tough call.. guy seems content to play in the A until called upon, doesn't cost much.. almost ideal 8th D at this stage. MB would be an upgrade on him I suppose. I sure am curious to see what moves JB pulls off this summer.. there's a few too many dudes at the ranch Tempering expectations so far.. -

assuming this is true, why exactly would we want him? it seems to me we have enough 3rd pair D anyways -
awesome video.. & completely unrelated: I guess I have a bit of 5 year old in me, but I just loved the light show on the puck drop..
-
yah boeser or else something they really need like.. -- gulp -- a goalie prospect.. bit of a scary proposition, methinks..
-
another angle might be that this is kinda like practise time and /or fun time.. sure he's competitive and wants to win, but it's an opportunity to work on things that actually will matter, starting in October
-
could easily.. especially Dallas.. but if you combed the forums around the league, I'd guess you would find fairly sensible arguments for asterisks on most series wins and many cup wins. I think the problem has always been there, whether it's corruption or not.. the difference now is the availability of information.. the league has taken great strides in bringing the viewer deep into the game experience, which is great, but the tech brings with it new problems.. when the viewer at home can do a better job of officiating than the refs on the ice, that's a problem.. so the solution likely lies with the same tech being used to the benefit of the refs as well..
-
I hear what your saying, but there would need to be a lot of asterisks then.. 2011 comes to mind, with Rome getting over-suspended on a first offense, while somebody's son is playing on the Bruins.. Dallas scored to win the cup with Hull in the crease. I remember watching Quebec carry the puck up ice on a delayed penalty call, then Montreal got the puck, carried it back and scored.. huh? but the goal stood and Montreal won. these things happen.. is it corruption? who could say.. but every year there's awful calls & non - calls alike that shape the playoffs. the thing is, a lot of the time the calls are made within the rules, and it's the rules that need to change. either way, there's been so much chatter now, and I think it's all leading up to change
-
Wow.. Another botched call that happens to favour San Jose. I don't really care who wins or loses games at this point, but this has bad optics.. it's becoming clear that in the end the real loser will be the league.. As the fans have access to more quality footage from better angles, the missed calls are becoming more frequent and more glaringly obvious.. and unless the situation is dealt with soon, the officiating, the war room & the league will start to look pretty suspect. (more than normal that is) I keep hearing the excuse of not wanting to slow the game any more, but I think fans will demand fairness.. especially when everybody knows what really happened. the refs have always been somewhat incompetent, but now they're being thrown under the bus as well
-
irony also being how many times EK has been burned in these playoffs.. I've been watching all the sharks games, with the intent of watching Karlsson. He definitely brings an explosive offensive element, but either he's not over that last injury, or his Norris days are well behind him. Unless his injuries are causing just a temporary setback, I honestly don't think he's a #1 D anymore..
