I don't want to defend markstrom because I can't defend a goalie who let's the first shot in every other game, and he's only a stepping stone in our rebuild anyway.. however... I'm looking at the scores around the league right now and there's a lot of goalies better than him missing a lot of shots, and scores are getting run up.. could be the equipment changes take some getting used to? coincidence?

pick your poison there.. unless something improves in their individual games, I don't see any of the 3 being part of the long term vision.. although I'd like to see Hutton find his way back to the trajectory the had in his rookie season and carry on.. not holding my breath tho..

hmmm.. not sure that's all Dubas all those years that Toronto was missing the playoffs, filling the cupboards with draft picks, Gillis was selling off our future. not all that surprising they can graduate more players than the comets

yah and apparently we have a whole bunch of #8 d men so it's not like we're giving up a lot
-
if he continues to develop and puts in a continuous solid effort, he could end up being somewhat like Hansen, which isn't super exciting for a 6th overall, but certainly a serviceable nhl player.. and Hansen could fill in on any line if necessary, and never really looked bad.. if Jake ends up there, that would be fine with me.. a bit disappointing, sure, but not every first rounder ends up a star.. either way, there's lots of time for him to end up a very functional player

what about... Horvat felt bad that Gaunce didn't make the team. that ok?
-
I agree about goldy... only a small sample size this season, but it seems like beagle represents the veteran leadership you want for the young bloods, while loui might be questionable. but if his effort is good enough, his defensive game is pretty decent, and that's always a good example

which has worse optics...? 1. sending millions of dollars to the minors (or finding another destination) 2. holding back a young player who's clearly earned it, and going back on your word naturally they could just say 'he was close' and do whatever they like
-
sources? or speculation?

yup.. and if I remember correctly, both nylander and ehlers faded in the playoffs... although I suppose they're still young as well..
-
he's got top end speed but I think most people today compare to mcdavid etc.. I don't think his edge work is as strong, so maybe he doesn't look as graceful, plus doesn't really show that explosive speed

I'm willing to bet he will be... woohoo!

<other team concedes>

Paul coffey all the way

I'm picturing Green in the room before game 1.. pulling names out of a hat and calling them out
-
love the first 3 lines.. 4th line I'd assume would look a bit different theoretically this could be a very expensive team in about 5 years though
-
I hope you're right about gadj.. would be fantastic if he turned out like hornqvist, who was a later draft that found his way to a very useful career
-
interesting point, but I don't think he's quite that elite
-
here's one.. Russ or Geoff? I liked them both...
-
not sure why we'd draft a potential elite center and set him up with a couple 2nd / 3rd line wingers...
-
-
roger that.. gadj is one of my faves. I really still hope JV becomes a solid top 6, and JG slides in on the 3rd

and Steve kariya

we also have a legit shot at Calder finalists 3 years in a row.. ..chew on that for a minute..
