  1. Anything < 6 is too low for Quinn IMO. He's worth a little more than Dahlin on a bridge. I'd like to see this get done at 8.5m x 6 for Petey and 6.5m x 3 for Hughes
  2. But you must've missed Jack Hughes explain the reason Quinn was -24 was purely because his team sucked. Quinn is an elite defender and his inability to defend is the fault of the players around him. The same players who've been busting their a**es at training campe while Quinn is out surfing and posing for photos.
  3. What I said was, I think “the heat around this is heightened because of the current cultural moment.” And that them posing for photos is a middle finger to a fan base waiting on them. I said nothing about salary. Although I do think their demands on salary should be tempered by things like: still being restricted, the desire to have a winning team, team’s current cap space, and getting on the ice for training camp. But I know that’s all wishful thinking.
  4. 40/43 posing for photos is a big middle finger to a fan base waiting on them to collect whatever it is they’re demanding. I think the heat around this is heightened because of the current cultural moment. That was captured in the Ottawa Sun re: Brady Tkachuk: “What Tkachuk fails to see is the public’s very thin patience after dealing with COVID deaths, job losses, business closures, home foreclosures, an unnecessary election, masked versus unmasked, vaxxed versus unvaxxed, etc. In light of this, for any 22-year-old to think he deserves more than $8 million a year is beyond the pale and shows Ottawa that he thinks he is bigger than the Sens...” https://ottawasun.com/opinion/letters/you-said-it-tkachuk-shouldnt-be-greedy
  5. I agree, it’s better when all of this stuff is behind the curtain and we can pretend it doesn’t exist and that players actually feel some sense of loyalty to their clubs and teammates. And this is also the problem I have with the Swedish interview we heard about with Petey. We all heard him say, “I only want to play for a team that’s winning.” But they cut off the next part which would’ve cleared up this whole mess for us… “…and I only want to play for a team full of underplayed players so I can make what my Mom, Dad, Agent, and Matthew Tkachuck says I’m worth.”
  6. This is complete BS. Agents work for the players. The ultimate decision rests with Hughes and Petey.
  7. I feel like you’re both missing the point. They’re offering us good news… us… Canuck fans… good news So what if it’s not real? Sometimes you just need an escape, you know?
  8. Sh*tty source and he gets the Rasmus Dahlin contract AAV wildly wrong… BUT he says Hughes/Pettersson contracts are close and will be announced at a joint presser so I’m posting anyways. https://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Sabres-Needlessly-Play-Their-Hand-and-Vancouver-Contracts-SOON--Buzz1/1/113556
  9. We DO NOT want the same term for both these guys or we’re guaranteeing the same power plays when then next contract is up.
  10. We see players sign big money deals and then not live up to them all the time. Based on that, I don’t think it’s a good “strategy” (to use your word). But that’s just my opinion.
  11. ***Breaking News Jack Hughes provides an update on how Quinn’s doing. Apparently Quinn’s doing well and was out surfing last night. (It’s the smirk on Jack’s face while he talks about it that makes me hope someone on our team levels him this year). comes up at 8:19 https://www.nhl.com/devils/video/hughes--media-day-raw/t-277437418/c-9000954
  12. Your response has zero to do with what I said. of course they will get better. But thinking that signing them to a bigger contract is an effective “strategy” for helping them improve is patently false.
  13. 9 longterm (7 years) for Petey would work IMO I'd be fine with anything around 6.5m x3 for Hughes The one thing we can't have is matching term for these two. We don't need this same scenario again in a few years.
  14. Right, and we all know how well that works...... Young players never get signed to big contracts which eventually become anchors...they all end up inspired by already being guaranteed big money and become better and better with each passing year... ... = sarcasm
  15. Can’t wait to see Garland in action. Thinking he might be a new favourite of mine
  16. And here I was expecting big things and positive vibes for this year. What a joke
  17. Jumped on here this morning expecting some good news …fool me once
  18. Those would be TERRIBLE deals for the team. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE DEALS
