  1. Calgary game is way more entertaining. Sportsnet is now muted in favour of this disgusting Calgary love-in stream.
  2. Nice to have that Loui pulling up at the blue line and chipping pucks in. Its just frustrating watching him do nothing.
  3. 1st round pick says, hello Fair price I’d say.
  4. Isn’t exactly Calgary's first string in Vic. We SHOULD win that one. It’s a disappointment if we dont imo
  5. 2-0 Calgary 2-0 Calgary feels like a theme emerging
  6. 1-0 Calgary 1-0 Calgary hurts twice as much
  7. Give him every chance to make the team in camp or send him down
  8. Can’t we just enjoy one thing without the media turning it into something negative?
  9. It takes a lot time because both the agent and the GM use time to apply pressure. 1) Offer made 2) Offer rejected 3) Counter-offer made 4) Counter-offer rejected 5) Both parties now wait for as long as they can before taking again because they are both trying to prove that they have the leverage and are not worried. It's fairly stupid actually. If these deals weren't built using mind games they would happen a lot faster.
  10. This would be ideal, yes. Possible? Probably not. Who's that 3m dollar player?
  11. That's a good point about not wanting to take back a dead weight contract. Maybe we can find someone with some potential just in need of a fresh start like Edm is hoping for in Neal. I'm not offering any suggestions because I've looked for them and can't find anything that makes sense. Other than...I'm sure Ottawa would be happy to retain some salary on Bobby Ryan (say 1.5m?), include a later round pick, and trade him for LE...Maybe he could finish his career close to being the 20 goal scorer Loui was meant to be....Out of the frying pan into the fire probably but honestly I think Loui will do more harm than good after this offseason if he's on our roster this Fall. I've enjoyed reading all of your posts (there's been a lot of them ;-)) about shipping Loui of to Utica (Loutica?) but it's hard for me to see that happening. For no other reason than Aquilini seemed to struggle enough paying Gag's salary to go down there and Gags wasn't being payed anything close to our boy, Loui.
  12. Theres another positive to this Neal/Lucic thing that I haven't heard anyone talk about yet. Lucic, a third, and some salary retention for Neal sets a precedent that JB can use in talks with teams about LE. LE's contract is better than Lucic's, a year shorter than Lucic's, and he brings more actual hockey to the table than Lucic (ie. being an elite penalty killer and great two way forward). If Edmonton can get Neal for Lucic while only giving up a third and hanging onto some money JB should be able to move LE without giving away any kind of a prime asset. Getter done JB
  13. I like all of what I'm reading here but don't forget to give Jordie Benn some love. I think he'll be a significant culture changer for our team. Man, this season should be a blast
  14. JB nailed it when he got Benn done. I'm super excited about having him. Fan favorite in no time. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ben-kuzma-b-c-bred-benn-chooses-canucks-instead-of-returning-to-canadiens Jordie Benn couldn’t temper his enthusiasm Monday. And it had nothing to do with Canada Day. The free-agent acquisition with a prior connection to the Vancouver Canucks — the undrafted blueliner attended training camp in 2008 after four seasons in the BCHL — signed a two-year, US$4 million contract with the NHL club to be a third-pairing fit. The 31-year-old Victoria native could have remained with the Montreal Canadiens, who offered the same deal, but the 6-foot-1, 204 pound left-shot blueliner wanted to test the free agent market. And when the Canucks showed interest, the chance to play in his home province trumped staying in the hotbed of hockey in Montreal. He ran the concept by his brother, Jamie, and the captain of the Dallas Stars offered some sage advice. “He told me to just go for it,” said Jordie. “I’m just ecstatic. There was definitely interest from Montreal and we talked early in summer and it was a good deal on both sides. But I wanted to see what was out there and I couldn’t pass up going home. “It’s pretty amazing being a kid growing up on the island and watching the Canucks all those years and now I have a chance to play for them. To be a ferry away from family was a no-brainer for me.” This isn’t just a feel-good story. Benn can play. He had 22 points (5-17) in 81 games last season and can bring bite to a possible pairing with Chris Tanev. He averaged 18:12 per outing in 2018-19, was first on the Canadiens in blocked shots and third in hits. His Corsi-For rating was 53.4 and Canucks general manager Jim Benning called it a timely addition because Benn is “a safe and steady guy.” “Benny was a great teammate,” added Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher. “He’s very versatile. He’s someone we used all around our lineup and he competed every night. They (Canucks) got a good player.” Benn can play the left and right side, help the penalty kill and keep the opposition from taking advantage of his smaller and skilled teammates. “I can definitely play that roll,” added Benn. “We’ve got to give our forwards room and take care of the young kids and show them the ropes. If anyone really messes around, I can step in and take the brunt of it. I’m excited to do that. It’s amazing to step into hockey heaven in front of fans who know what’s going on.” And considering that 2008 camp cameo, this is the epitome of coming full circle. “It’s been a long journey, that’s for sure,” said Benn. “I’m pretty sure there’s a picture of me at that camp with no beard and zits all over my face. It’s pretty cool.”
