Any idea what a buyout of his KHL contract would look like? How slim a possibility is that really do you think?
-
The whole debate aside, who - as Canuck's fans - doesn't enjoy watching these clips? How long have we been waiting for someone with physical attributes like his? He made us a harder team to play against in 2016/2017.

He did up and leave once before surprising both mngmt and fans. And he he did publicly complain about aspects of this city. So maybe not totally baseless comments. But I do agree that he sounds like he's coming back and that's great with me. There are some players that Green will need to treat a bit differently if they want to sign them. Personally, I don't think guaranteeing Tram plays in the top four is too much. And I think he's worth it. A unique talent and he seems driven to constantly improve. Id love to see Aquilini demand that mngmt buy out Tram's current contract (if that's even possible) and get him over here. Our defense could use ...anything right now and him, Pettersson, Boeser, Bo and maybe even a little Demko would be fun to watch next season.

https://www.google.ca/amp/s/thecanuckway.com/2018/05/14/vancouver-canucks-nikita-tryamkin-is-not-interested-in-talking-now/amp/ Doesnt seem very positive for Tree making his way back over here anytime soon... As someone who would LOVE to see him back in Canucks colours I’m hoping it’s not as bad as it reads.

In this article: https://www.google.ca/amp/theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/ben-kuzma-sutter-seethes-at-insane-tank-talk-to-upgrade-canucks-draft-pick/amp Brandon Sutter says this: “What Travis wanted and what my strengths are, we were pretty much on point,” added the 29-year-old Sutter. “I’ve reached the point where I don’t care where I play or what my role is. Last year, I was kind of in limbo and not really sure what my role was. I wasn’t really matched up — I was just playing.” Shot at Willy D. No?

Would love that. Couldn't agree more. I just wonder if giving 88 to Gaudette is calculated at all. Either of you think mngmt is thinking that subversively?

I hope Tryamkin doesnt take it personal...

I’m happy with 4m AAV for 3 years. I like Guddy. He knows he needs to improve. More importantly, he wants to improve. He sounds excited about the team and the direction. On top of that I think I guy like him can help build up the confidence of some of the new guys walking into the room over the next few seasons. Great job JB.

I'm excited about this kid because of his play but I also love the attitude he brings. A bit of a swagger without being arrogant and a little less filtered than we normally get around here. If he can overachieve even a little in his career - I'm looking forward to having him. https://mobile.twitter.com/Canucks/status/906382722544758784/video/1

Has anyone on here heard/read anything on the state of Jake's shoulder? That lingering injury has been one of my primary concerns with him as it has the potential to seriously hamper his style of play. I haven't watched any full Utica games with him but with the Canucks it seemed to be an issue after a big hit sometimes and maybe part of the reason he let up in spots. Hope its its not an issue but anyone something more concrete than hope?

Absolutely. If you followed our little convo there you'll see that @Rob_Zepp and I worked it out nicely. Peace

1) I'm confident that Horvat will be around for a long time. No noose here! 2) He could've been re-upped before the beginning of free-agency as a pending RFA. So not exactly "day one of potential signing date." 3) As I've said, I get that this is totally normal. 4) I'm happy to let this play out over the coming weeks. 5) Never said the Canuck org is a failure, nor do I think that. 6) The purpose of these boards is to allow for a variety of opinions to be expressed. Saying I wish something went another way isn't finding fault, it's expressing an opinion. 7) As I've said, not glum - felling good about where this team is. The only thing I was trying to say - along with some others, is that I personally would've liked to have seen Horvat signed earlier. Three quarters of the way through last season I was thinking bridge deal. Now, I imagine they're trying to lock Horvat up long-term - which, naturally, takes a little longer. Either way I'm happy!...not negative. The team's not a faiure. I'm not mad etc. etc. etc. Horvat's such a big piece of the equation in my mind that I wanted it to get done early. Wishful thinking? Yeah! Problem? No. Simply an opinion expressed. We good?
-
Absolutely - would like to see it get done asap! We should be careful though since personal opinions on the timing of this tend to lead to @Rob_Zepp throwing a tantrum about negativity.
-
I understand that. Free agency is is a marker in time...that I was hoping he was signed previous to. Chill
-
Came off more dramatic than intended. Just meant that I was hoping his signing would be done right away - before free agency.

Yes, it is fairly standard and I hope you're right that it has nothing to do with either side pushing back. Although, if either side were this is what it would look like ahead of July 1. All I'm saying is that, as a fan who really values Bo, I've been wanting to see this deal get done quickly and get him locked up for a while instead of it dragging out. With a QO extended other teams will be talking to him and I don't see much good coming for that other than to drive his price up. But again I understand that these are multi-million dollar deals and they take time.
-
Completely agree that his value is high. That's why I would've preferred Benning to cough up the $$ here rather than on some other (again, less foundational) pieces. To me, Horvat is worth more to this team than Erickson long term and I can't imagine Bo's number being higher than that.
-
Just extended a QO to Horvat. I fully expect that we'll get him signed but I am a little disappointed that it's come down to this. I recognize its a business transaction with millions of dollars at stake but seeing as he IS an actual "foundation piece" for this hockey team it would have been nice to see Benning do what it takes to make it happen like he's done with other (less foundational) pieces. I would love to know what number/term Bo's camp has in mind and where Vancouver is pushing back. If Bo (or his camp) wants him paid as an all-star after only one season above 50 points, I get it. But the Horvat crew has never struck me as greedy or 'out to lunch' before.
-
I doubt they'll do that as the best thing for Jake right now is the fact that this fan base has WAY lower expectations on him heading into 17/18 then we did heading into 16/17. My hunch is they want to keep it that way. Heres hoping that a little less pressure mixed with last year's development is a recipe for a great season for him.

Taney isn't going anywhere. Would love to be wrong though. Grabbing another 1st rounder would be awesome. -
[GDT] 2017 NHL Entry Draft

I'm happy with Pettersson overall. JB is swinging for the fences and I like that. My biggest issue with the pick is the lack of physicality consistently mentioned by scouts. Not just a slight frame but a hesitation to engage physically...on the larger ice surface! I really want to turn the corner from physically passive team leaders to physically engaging ones. That's just me. From Corey Pronman of ESPN (Excerpt only – full article behind pay wall): -
