  1. The whole game turned after Hughes was bloodied by Kane 10 seconds before the Oilers scored their first on the powerplay. It's brutal to lose after that non-call
  2. These Oilers think they're hot sh*t. Whining, entitled, and outraged when things don't go their way. Not a winning combination longterm
  3. 2nd round picks are valuable but more often than not they don't become NHL players. Getting a young dman with toughness back and saving cap over a couple years--creating the potential to make another move as we start the season--is worth it IMO Not to mention the amount of posters here who complain when management doesn't do enough during the offseason also seem to complain whenever they buck up and make something happen. It's annoying
  4. It’s the going rate to clear cap space. canucks management has no control over the market
  5. I agree. Dickinson was a big disappointment and not living up to his AAV which I’m glad the club wouldn’t accept. I’m thinking clearing cap space means the club wants room for something else. Maybe a waiver claim? Either way, I’m happy to see the move. Though I wish it was for a RHD
  6. No, unfortunately. Really strange and I'm trying to contact SN At least its only happening during preseason ;-)
  7. I always stream on my laptop exactly as I'm trying to do now. No idea why it thinks I'm outside Canada
  8. Anyone else having issues with Sportsnet? I'm trying to watch from Vancouver, BC and keep getting this error message over and over...
  9. Should've stopped listening before trading Virtanen was brought up... Man, it would've been great to deal him in hindsight...for anything.
  10. We've been winning but that doesn't mean our structure is great. That's whybJR mentioned D zone exits being worst in the league. Big difference between the play of a team like Calgary and a team like the Canucks. Considering Calgary is mostly ex canucks ;-) I think it has a lot to do with Sutter's structure.
  11. Seems like they love what he was able to do "in the room" and getting the most out of players but want to add more structure to the team's overall game.
  12. A completely pathetic display by the road team tonight. Embarrassing.
  13. He's looked terrible all season. His first couple years it wasn't just offence, it was the way he hounded the puck from one end of the ice to the other. It was magnetized to his stick and he was obsessed with making a great play. Now, he seems uninterested, emotionless, and just not good enough skill wise. He should've taken JB's first offer and kept his head down. I don't think he was ready for the sting of fans calling him on the holdout and shaking his confidence more than it already was. At this point I'm wondering if he'll make it back any time this year.
  14. I do not understand why some people are surprised/upset by this. A new PHO obviously gets to decide what he wants from his staffed positions. This article from Ian Mac is SO ANNOYING. Everyone calls for change and complains about mngmt. Then change happens and IMac leads the way in bitching about it. Nothing about these firings undermines the positivity of the last week. The only thing undermining positivity is our sh*tty media who use major sports publications as their own personal blogs! I wish fans could vote sport journalists in or out of their jobs... https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/firings-canucks-undermine-unexpectedly-upbeat-week/
  15. Because a new PHO needs to make his own decision on GM (interim or otherwise).
  16. Smyl's a fan favorite which makes him a terrible candidate for GM (wouldn't stay a favorite for long...) Smyl should come out and speak a little more and remind the fans that some in mngmt share the same passion. That's all. He's a figure-head and an important one IMO
  17. I always hear people saying, 'Vancouver fans aren't patient enough for a true rebuiild.' I completely disagree. I've been wanting a proper rebuild since they got swept by the Sharks in the playoffs 2012. What we're not patient enough for is enduring a rebuild that never happens with a team that stays middle of the pack for eight years. I would LOVE the Aquilinis to come out and tell us they're bringing in a new President of Hockey Ops with tonnes of experience and that person will hire their own GM who will hire their own coach. The PHO will replace Francesco's role and will report directly to the whole board. Then let that team come in with fresh eyes on the group and build it from scracth. I agree with Bieksa that they should build the team starting with Demko and out from there. Salvage the Superstars (or trade), Develop some of the kids, but get a couple real top four D to anchor the blue line. I'd sign up for a true rebuild starting today. I'd forgive the last eight years on the spot if some new management team showed up a cast a clear and compelling vision for moving this team ahead starting right now.
