I would agree with this sentiment whole-heartedly. While I would love to see Bedard in Vancouver someway, the "Lindros-route" would be a lot to stomach as a hockey fan in general. That and Bettman would impose a penalty of "no 1st round picks for you for the next decade Vancouver" no matter whether Vancouver was an innocent bystander or not.

No, Bedard doesn't show up at the draft or states at any time before the draft, "I won't play for the Blackhawks, I will only play for team A, B or C". Instead he just refuses to sign an ELC, which will be offered the moment he steps onto the stage draft day. What happens then? I know he can't just go and sign with another team (one wishes, LOL), but could he go and play overseas? Does he go back into the draft after a certain time or does he become a free agent after a certain number of years - even if playing overseas in the meantime while refusing to sign an ELC. Oh well, back to work now.
