Okay..go ahead and completely misinterpret what I said all you want. It’s a matter of opinion that I believe in this core (demko, petey, Hughes, and would even include Podkolzin/Hoglander and kuzmenko). I never said half of what you implied but again I believe in the core, not necessarily the management group to get it done. Blue line clearly needs to be reworked. I don’t think it’s a complete tear down that’s needed which is all I said.

I would disagree with that if we’re talking about selling expiring assets. It’s not like you have to convince petey to stay through a total tear down. You still have miller/Hughes/demko signed long term. Plenty of guys sign with teams in the same sort of spot as this team is especially when he will quite clearly be stepping into more of a leadership role.

I would agree with that. Part of me wonders if a guy like Rutherford would take a job knowing he wouldn’t have autonomy to make these sort of decisions? Obviously the proof is in the pudding, but I guess we will see..just genuinely so frustrating that so much ground work was laid and picks nailed (demko, Hughes, petey++) only to then have the cap allocation destroyed by literally 2 or 3 moves. Imagine having the same bones, yet so much space/flexibility to address whatever you need on top of having more assets to use in trade. I feel like at one point this club was close to having that

I mean I’m not going to comment on how certain guys are going to age..I’m also not going to pretend like I was in support of giving him this contract but with the cap surely going up in the next 2-3 years, you can easily navigate around that cap hit..but it becomes a lot more difficult with the other money already allocated to guys lower in the lineup. Again, at this stage, I think the notion that they should bottom out is irrelevant because they’re too good for that but I think they can and should take a step back to move forward and the most immediate piece of business is to collect a bunch of assets for the expiring contracts. I just think 1.5 years worth of disciplined hoarding of assets will allow this club to explode. Again I just don’t believe in this mindset of “it’ll take 5-6 years to rebuild” or whatever. They have the building blocks but certainly need more.

It’s frustrating because if JT wasn’t signed, I could justify keeping Bo and genuinely retooling this team by freeing up space, collecting assets but also remaining competitive by being patient and pouncing on can’t miss opportunities to upgrade the D which I believe will absolutely be there come this off season..now, Bo has to be traded in order to recoup assets and on top of revamping the blue line, you have a massive hole down the middle for the next however many years. With that being said I don’t believe in this 6 year real build garbage..everything could/would change if you have like 2-3 late round picks hit or a college free agent signing that works or another kuzmenko type of find I believe (I know that’s easier said than done). But that’s what this management team is supposed to be good at I guess

I hate to say it but Bo has to be traded…said the same thing with JT but it’s even more clear now. This is the one ticket the club has to strike gold with regards to a return…please do the right thing here

Where were the hindsight kings (who are smarter than 32 GMs) when Jamie Benn and Jason Robertson and Rasmus andersson got passed over before being drafted. So easy to cherry pick what should’ve happened when a player blows up. We won’t know for awhile but the fact this new front office is putting an emphasis on player developement is a good sign because that’s what really trasnforms teams in my opinion.

Genuinely embarrassing these threads keep getting bumped..people actually believing if he just stayed in van he would’ve become the same player he is today. It’s part of players developement getting overlooked and playing In a new system with new coaches..literally happens to every team that players thrive in a new environment..in this same vein we should have kept Olli juolevi cause he should be popping off at any time now

Maybe this is overreaction but can this team win with JT miller on the roster? I’m having a hard time connecting the dots between how management continuously talks about standards and details and culture and playing with structure and (after just signing the guy) Jt miller seems to be the epitome of all of this teams problems. I can live with a player not being good enough or playing to their standards, but the body language and the clear lack of pride I see from jt is alarming..like it’s not just the give aways or bad turnovers it’s how he reacts to that, it’s the fact that he’s not getting to the bench quickly or chasing down icings (even if you know you aren’t getting there in time). I’m genuinely of the belief that this is a better team if JT miller gets plucked off of waivers.
