  1. Two premium assets should be the compensation for JT Miller based on the report on the site "pucksandpitchforks" : first proposal: Alexander Holtz and Jersey's 2nd overall pick 2022 sec. proposal: Bratt and Jersey's unprotected 1st round pick 2023 On top of that, the Canucks are going to ask for everything the Devils don’t consider untouchable. That includes Alex Holtz, Dawson Mercer, Jesper Bratt, Damon Severson, the second-overall pick, and their unprotected 2023 first-round pick. full report is here: https://pucksandpitchforks.com/2022/07/04/latest-j-t-miller-rumors-new-jersey-devils-going-dangerous-path/
  2. LMAO. Just read this scouting report on Lian Bichsel and thought instantly that I was reading a scouting report on Chris Pronger. Lian Bichsel is a BEAST one of the most physical threats on the ice. From my perspective Bichsel is intimidating opponents like Zdeno Chara and Chris Pronger during their primes. Bichsel's nickname is ALPHA DOG !! LMAO "If we compare to other robust defenders of recent years, Bichsel is the one who displays (by far) the greatest consistency in this regard. I saw him throw players on the ice 8 (!) times in an SHL game. While it’s not always play-of-the-week center-ice hits, Bichsel literally looks like he’s toying with his opponents. One aspect of the tall Swiss’s overall game that has been improved this season is his propensity to jump into play and his ability to distribute shoulder-check was no exception: he is regularly seen hitting a winger in the offensive zone while the latter is waiting to tip the puck out of his own zone. It’s the same observation in the neutral zone where he will hit the players who are just waiting to dump the puck into opposing territory before retreating to the bench for a change. Even if it will not be a big check, he wants to be very insistent and his opponents must constantly play with their heads held high and be wary when he is on the ice, in a series 4 of 7, it becomes very exhausting. He shows a very good intelligence with his selections of hits, where he’ll never gets caught against the current and also, he shows maturity where he is not necessarily looking for the big checks but he also distributes ‘good’ checks to simply separate the puck carrier from the puck. Perhaps the most desirable thing about the defenseman’s physical game is the mentality with which he approaches every on-ice appearance. It is often said of scrappy little players that “It is not about the size of the dog in the fight but rather about the size of the fight in the dog that counts”. Now apply this phrase to a 6’5, 214 lbs giant. Bichsel wants to be the one ruling on the ice. It was fascinating to watch Leksand’s games against Frolunda as the Swiss spent his shifts chasing Elmer Soderblom, a 6’7 Detroit Red Wings prospect. Despite being at a height and age disadvantage, Bichsel wanted to prove to everyone that HE was the biggest on the ice. He’s an ‘Alpha-Dog’ and a player you definitely want to go to war with. He could definitely turn out to be one of the most feared defenders of his generation."
  3. inconsistent with his output and effort .sounds like Jake. Henrik said about Jake that he has all the tools.... What exactly happened with Jake? He couldn't become a regular NHL'er.
  4. There is a reason why Bob has him ranked only at #16 and NOT in the top 10. Following is from a scouting report on Brad Lambert. Other scouting services have mentioned similar observations. But, Lambert has been criticized for his lack of effort. Perhaps this is something that can be attributed to being an 18-year-old or just a general lack of motor, but scouts have criticized Lambert for taking shifts off. A very ephemeral criticism, but one that is present enough to have draft experts wary of Lambert and has caused some to suggest that he will fall in the draft.
  5. Picking Ryan Chesley with the 15th overall pick would be drafting for need instead of BPA. That would be the type of poor decisions made by Jim Benning that put the organzation in a massive hole.
  6. There are good reasons why Ryan Chesley is ranked as a borderline first rounder by most of the scouting services. The following report is a good source for getting more information on the player's strength and deficiencies. https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/2022/6/29/23182772/ryan-chesley-2022-nhl-draft-prospect-profile-scouting-report-rankings-defensive-display-usntdp
  7. Kasper would be a homerun pick for the Canucks of course, but I really hope that Rutherford/Allvin are smart enough to take another centre from Europe. Hopefully Allvin's team have done their due diligence and get it right on draft day. I am almost 100% sure that the detroit red wings are going to draft a centre with their 8th overall pick. Steve Yzerman heavily relies on Hakan Andersson - the red wings european head scout when it comes to european prospects. Steve isn't afraid to go off the board with his first round picks. Kasper might be ranked outside the top-10 by most of the scouting services, but Steve doesn't care at all about these rankings. Well, I am still hopeful that Allvin is going to get this right.
  8. How do they get out of this massive hole Jim Benning created? 1. The draft picks (first round picks and second round picks which were traded away are gone. This has a significant adverse impact on the prospect pool. These picks are gone. 2. Benning era put the organization in awful situation in terms of cap space. Signings like Myers and Ekman Larsson proved to be bad contracts and Jim Rutherford and Patrick Allvin know that both contracts are untradeable. 3. Prospect pool is thin. Lots of propects didn't make it to the big stage. Second round picks for Gadjovich and Lind turned out to be useless. Woo, who was drafted in 2018 in the second round still playing in the AHL. Madden traded away together with a second round pick for a very limited number of games from Toffoli. 4. The fact that a player like Tanner Pearson has been playing in the top six is quite telling. What needs to be done? - in this order - 1. top priority for additions to the roster should be the character / the personality of a player 2. Bruce and his team need to establish the right culture to make that the team plays the right way. 3. Create cap space 4. sign a legitimate top 4 D-Man for the right side 5. add goaltending depth 6. hire the best development coach being available Several months ago I posted in the thread "leadership" that leadership is about asking the right questions. Asking the right questions will lead Jim and Patrick to one of the root causes for this fXXXing disaster: the impatience of ownership. Benning has been taken lots of shortcuts to build a contender, but miserably failed to do so. getting out of this hole will take at least two years.
  9. Not holding a 2nd round draft pick this year really hurts because Canucks would have been able to draft a great prospect in the 2nd round. Preferably they would have targeted a RHD or Julian Lutz. Lutz was widely regarded as a 1st rounder but unfortunately got injured and was limited to only 14 games in Germany's top league, the DEL. Especially his two goals against Canada during the U18 worlds put him in the spotlight again. the following is a quote from Jason Bukala from Sportsnet on May 4, 2022: He moves well and brings size (6-foot-2, 179 pounds) and skill to the equation. On the power play he showed he can one time pucks and score goals. This is a player who might be flying under the radar a bit and I believe showed enough to come under consideration in the second round of the draft. Big bodies who extend plays, battle, and have skill are a wanted commodity.
  10. My prediction for draft day is that Stevie is going to call Kasper's name at #8. If Kasper is still on the board at #15 Jim should run on the stage and should take Kasper.
  11. G7 summit takes place this weekend 100 kilometer south of Munich at the castle Ellmau close to the Alps. Cost for this summit is estimated at 180 Million Euro mostly because of the security requirements. Leaders of the G7 countries fly in Munich and the take a ride with the helicopter of the German federal police to Ellmau. This event is secured by more than 20,000 policemen. President Biden with a special treatment lodging not in a suite in the hotel but in a separate building with the entire brass from the States.
  12. not a surprise at all. It's fascinating to watch him play and especially his impact on the ice defensively and offensively is insane. He's got all the tools to become one of the best D-Man in this league. I remember very well that some users on this board thought Seider at #10 would be a stretch, but for me it was crystal clear that he is a top 5 pick. I watched lots of regular season games, playoff games and the games at the worlds from Seider's former team , Adler Mannheim. At the age of 18 he played on the top pairing with Adler Mannheim and later at the worlds. His performance at the worlds was absolutely stunning. Stevie got this one right at draft day, even though he took some heat for this selection. Well deserved, Moritz.
  13. It is a well known fact that Stevie travelled several times to Germany in order to watch Moritz Seider ahead of the draft. Not only to watch Seider playing but also to have interviews with the whole coaching staff from Seider's former team , Adler Mannheim. In addition I watched a pre-draft interview from the Detroit Red wings org and was quite shocked that it was indeed Stevie who came across Brayden Point when he travelled to a game schedule somewhere in Sasketchewan (unfortunately I don't remember the team) focuing to scout a prospect for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Stevie's involvement in drafting prospects is seriously underestimated.
  14. That's indeed great to see that he did not only manage to come back but also being able to score a goal.
  15. I had to laugh once I saw Myers positioning against Jack Hughes on the Jersey's opening goal. Straigt up embarrassing. Didn't Myers see that another Canucks player back-checking and covering the second Devil's forward. Comedy. That's comedy.
  16. NHL live coverage in the german free TV - compared to the TV coverage in Canada - another universe..
  17. Hurricanes PP is just unbelievable. This ultra - fast passing on the PP makes a real different. This team is damn good. Watched the whole game against the Penguins last Sunday and now the game today against the Oilers. PK is also outstanding. This team is a dark horse for winning the Stanley Cup.
  18. do you consider David Pagnotta from the fourth period as legit? The Fourth Period: David Pagnotta is reporting during his NHL Network segment that the Vancouver Canucks are testing the trade market for defenseman Tyler Myers. Myers has two years left at $6 million. “They’re exploring the market on Tyler Myers. They want to wait a couple of weeks to see how the team performs and exactly what the marketplace has to bear for some of their players, including Tyler Myers. “The objective is to not only shake up the roster and retool a little bit, but also to free up a little bit of cap space going into next season so that (Canucks GM) Patrik Allvin and (President, Hockey Operations) Jim Rutherford can really put their mark on this club.”
  19. down to 4 D for five minutes should not be a big deal for a team. More important than being down to 4 D is sending a message to Deslaurier and the whole Anaheim team. It's quite telling that no canucks player had the heart ! to stick up for Burroughs. This team isn't going anywhere. Lacks toughness / Lacks speed / lacks mentality / lacks a legitimate 3C ... and so on ....
  20. was a huge game against a division rival and you're getting zero hits from captain Bo. Come on... He is not a leader. Burrows was a leader, the Sedins were leaders, but Horvat isn't.
  21. wondering where Myers was ? He is tall guy, but hasn't had the balls to take on Deslauriers.
  22. interesting fact, that Boeser's production 5v5 equals the 5v5 production of players like Bonino, Danault and Laughton. Yet there are some Brock fanboys here that want to extend him... oh, my god, what's going in VAN ...
  23. the root cause for this embarrassing loss at home was the very intense training throughout the whole week. All the players were skating in quick sand. It was all about not having the legs to skate.
  24. I would take Holtz for Boeser anytime. Holtz was drafted 7th overall and is tearing it up at the Utica Comets this season. Holtz would be a great return for Boeser; based on what I have read on the New Jersey Devils side I got the sense that it is unlikely that they throw in Holtz. More likely is a player like Ty Smith, also a first round pick, but a defenceman. I would prefer to get a A prospect as return instead of a draft pick.
  25. I find it very interesting that crows can be trained to pick up cigarette butts. I almost fell out of my chair when I first heard about it. In general all the swedish cities are very clean. Now I know how they get this done. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2022/feb/01/swedish-crows-pick-up-cigarette-butts-litter
