  1. Hey nuckin_futz, really like this cookie analogy to explain what might happen going forward. Guess you like cookies a lot
  2. in putin's view: yes. The russian point is that they feel threatened by all the Nato forces located in Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Romania.... That's exactly the reason to call for security guarantees.
  3. love the package A. Would be a great deal for VAN. I think JR is in a very favorable position to negotiate with the Rangers, because it's the Rangers that want J.T. It should start with Schneider from my perspective an a first round pick, besides that the third piece should be a prospect, ideally a center or a proven roster player for our bottom 6. Rangers are the best trade partner from my perspective, because they have the assets (for example Schneider).
  4. Ray Ferraro in general throwing the Canucks under the bus at every given opportunity with some kind words.
  5. Thing is that this team can't afford losing games given the situation in the standings. If you want to climb back into the playoff spots you have to win games, at least you have to get a point out of the game. 7 points behind teams like the Ducks and Kings. Calgary with 5 games in hand compared to Canucks. It's no longer about playing well or not, it's only about points.
  6. it is like day and night when you listen to Travis and Bruce. Should have never extended Travis Green. Season 2020/2021 hasn't been great, but from my perspective this season hasn't been analyzed by Jim Benning and his staff properly to identify the root causes for the poor performance.
  7. How is it possible that Shaw hasn't had an influence under Travis Green?
  8. PALMIERI ON PATERNITY LEAVE Kyle Palmieri was absent from practice and will miss Wednesday's game against the Vancouver Canucks after he and his wife had a baby. Palmieri is expected to join the team in Edmonton. "Kyle will be joining us I believe in Edmonton," Trotz said. "Family comes first with the Islanders, so we want him to spend a day or two with his wife and his newborn and he'll get out here and resume play."
  9. it really sucks that detroit drafted him at 6th overall. Read a couple of weeks before the draft in a german newspaper that the Red Wings are going to draft seider. Steve Yzerman flew to Germany and scouted Seider several times. Stevie had also several talks with the headcoach and GM of the Mannheim Adler, Seider's team. The first time Stevie watched Seider was in December 2018. Stevie is a damn good GM. I hoped that Canucks would get him at 10, but after Seider's impressive performance at the Worlds it was crystal clear that he won't make it to 10. $&!# happens.
  10. in two or three more season in the NHL he will dominate the game like Hedman in his prime. Mark my words. For me he 's the rookie of the year. I know there are more than 30 games left in this seaon, but no other rookie does even come close to his impact on the ice. Seider is way better than any of the current Canucks Defenseman, because he is a complete D-Man. He is skating faster than OEL, faster than Myers, faster than Hunt , faster than Burrroughs, faster and Poolman, faster than Hamonic. The only D-Man from the Canucks that can keep up with Seider's speed is maybe Hughes, but Hughes is way smaller and therefore maybe a little faster.
  11. 1. he plays a physical game, throws heavy hits on forwards 2. he is playing big minutes for Detroit 3. he is scoring goals in OT, goals I haven't seen from Quinn Hughes in OT. 4. given his size he is a great skater 5. one day he will be a norris trophy winner, something Quinn Hughes will never achieve in his career. 6. he is not slow, by no means. You are talking bull$&!# like so many times. clueless, absolutely clueless. take your time to watch this vid, I hope you are not drunk when you watch this vid.
  12. even in his second year in a canucks jersey he will remain the type of player he is. Dickinson had played in Dallas up and down the line-up mostly on the wing. He played very well defensively but it should have been clear to Canucks pro scouts and Jim Benning that he does not drive offense. Canucks needed a 3 C in the offseason, strong in faceoffs and able to provide some secondary scoring on the 3rd line. On the day Canucks announced the signing I wrote that he is not fit, because Canucks won't get the offensive game from Dickinson as 3C. One of the main reason why Canucks teams struggled heavily scoring goals over the last seasons was that they had a defensive center in Sutter who provided not the secondary scoring you need as team to make the playoffs. Jim Benning , the pro scouts and the advisors made the same mistake again in signing a defensive first player for the 3C role. Even for me as an fan with only average hockey knowledge it was clear at the date of the signing that he is not the type of player the Canucks need. I do not know what all these highly paid hockey people in the front office and the pro scouts are doing all day long and I have no clue if these people have the brainpower to assess correctly what type of player is needed and if the potential player on the market fits the bill. Just another example of the shortcomings in the Benning era. Like Nate Schmidt another player who does not fit in. I guess we all have to thank Jim Benning for building a non-playoff team. Still lots of user here trying to defend Jim and his great signings in the offseason ( with Dickinson, Poolman ...).
  13. a couple of updates from my side on this topic: 1. Macron is very confident to reach an agreement with Putin after he had spoken with him almost 6 hours; based on the news coming out of this meeting I expect that Russia will receive the security guarantees requested earlier in a formal written request from Russia 2. Biden threated that the North Stream 2 pipeline will be shut down forever once Russia invades the Ukraine; german foreign minister Baerbock let russian foreign minister Lawrow know that the pipeline won't go into operation after a Russian attack 3. russia announced that the military drill will begin on February 10, 2022. 4. the olympic spirit (peace , unite people around the world) should hold russia back from an attack on the Ukraine, at least until the winter olympics will end 5. russia just can't afford that the north stream pipeline will be completely shut down forever, because the russian oil giant Gazprom had invested billions of dollars based on points 1 - 5 the likelyhood that russia invades Ukraine is remote ( i would say less than 10%).
  14. according to a polish military expert 7 battalions out of a total of 70 battalions build up around the Ukraine are located in the south east of belarus, only 90 from Kiev.
  15. is having a solid you core and saleable assets the benchmark for Jim Bennings era? I thought it would be the number of playoff appearances during his tenure. Only a reminder: he traded away two consecutive first round picks and this team has still holes and most likely would not make the playoffs this season, again. Extending the great one - the great Travis Green - was a horrible decision. Jim was by any measure one of the worst GM's in Canucks history.
  16. are you serious, man? Boeser's production does not justify a 7.5M contract. Boeser is slow and therefore has his strengths in the east-west game down low. If you want to make this team a better team you have to start bringing in players , wingers that can skate fast and back-check hard. Boeser's 24 points in 46 games so far, is a joke, it's underwhelming performance, no doubt about it.
  17. Kravtsov, no thanks. Same character issues like Tryamkin. Tryamkin refused to report to Utica Comets, Kravtsov refused to report to the farmteam of the Rangers. Stay away from this russian kid. "He's in Russia right now, awaiting a trade, refusing assignment to AHL Hartford, so I called around to find out what general manager Chris Drury could be looking for in a trade for this player, and what I got back was a top prospect," Sportsnet's Jeff Marek said during the 32 Thoughts segment on Hockey Night in Canada.
  18. phonzi is with his teammates in the greatest moment ever for the men's national soccer team. world championship in qatar is going to be a challenge for the canadians because of the extreme heat and weather conditions.
  19. cool story, bro. I have an anti-virus program from Kaspersky (from Russia, but very reliable and cheap). It comes at 39 Euro per year. Don't know if Kaspersky is also available in North America. I guess it is.
  20. the whales are filling their bags.... follow the smart money and you will get rich - very rich -..
  21. "expert" opinions are also welcomed. Have you ever watched a practice sessions or a pre-game warm-up, Deb? How many times in a practice session do players shoot the puck to the goal? How many times in a warmup do players shoot the puck to the goal? I can't understand that the shot accuracy just isn't there. I can't understand that some players take stupid penalties over and over again. I can't understand the reasons why some of the players are not able to learn from their mistakes. The issue that the puck is passed from one player to the next player on the PP over and over again and &^@#ing nobody has the balls to shoot the puck to the net - we had issue in this season not only time, no we had this issue in numerous games and in numerous PP situations. It's the same discussion at this stage of the season like in the previous seasons: we are sellers , we discuss what return player x,y.z would us fetch, we discuss the spot we would most likely draft in the NHL entry draft in Summer. Same procedure as every year. Nothing changed. Sad.
