  1. Button had seider outside the top 20 approximately 3 weeks ahead of the draft only to adjust his list shortly before the draft and move up seider to #10 - if I remember correctly.
  2. want a a new bo horvat for the canucks? Take Dalibor Dvorsky at #11.
  3. I am sure that you would be capable of doing a better ranking than Tony Ferrari and make some money with pulling together such a list.
  4. quentin musty. you can't take this ranking seriously. This ranking is flat out a joke. This ranking is not even worth a discussion. Everyone who had watched Simashev knows that he needs to work on his gap-control, but Tony isn't even mentioning this area of weakness. how can you justify quentin Musty at #11. Come on. flush it down the toilet.
  5. some people never learn... guess some more draft picks are going to be traded away to create cap space. But hey there are still some fans here defending the Hronek trade. Just look at Dylan Guenther reaching the Memorial Cup final with the Seattle Thunderbirds. The guys in Arizona are still laughing at the vancouver canucks front office. They can't stop laughing at benning and his glorious team. These are the trades that sink an organization.
  6. sometimes strange things happen and a forward standing at 5.9 (in his draft year) like this guy is named Memorial Cup MVP. Just look at his physique. He looks like a real beast.
  7. How would you describe Allvin's draft record with the Penguins? Given Allvin's draft record with the Penguins and the Lekkerimäki selection in last years draft I have no expectations at all for this upcoming draft. How would you approach this draft strategically assuming that you were Canucks GM? look at their development staff. When the development staff don't get things done you go with the safest pick (Barlow or Danielson, maybe Moore). Do you feel Canucks are in the position to take on another gamble and go with the prospect having more upside to prospects like Danielson or Barlow? I won't get disappointed with the pick because I have no expectations at all. @VintageCanuck posted some pictures from the Canucks draft meeting. Just take a look at the faces of these people attending the meeting. What do you see when you look into their faces? I see question marks, doubt and uncertainty in their faces. Look at Cammies face. What do you see? Either there is a disconnect in type of information or the detail of information Cammie would expect and the scouts weren't able to meet or the provided information by scouts met their information needs but she still isn't sure what to make of this information. The body language of these people in the room does not instill much hope once draft day comes.
  8. entirely possible that Habs select Reinbacher at #5. I guess you have already read this piece of information below. If not you heard it here first. If Bedard, Fantili, Smith and Carlsson are gone when Habs pick you can make a case for selecting Reinbacher at #5. I will share some information why I think Reinbacher at #5 is not a reach. He had a stand-out draft season in NL - Headcoach Jeff Tomlinson, a canadian said about Reinbacher "he's our best option" - won rookie of the year, won most improved player in NL, ranked third in the top 10 D-Man in the NL - played on a first pairing There is no denying that Reinbacher had a way better season in his draft year than Dalibor Dvorsky. He projects as a No. 2 Defenceman in the NHL Freimüller, an austrian scout with more than 25 years of scouting experience and a former europrean scout for the Atlanta Thrashers said about Reinbacher that he has the potential to become a no. 2 D-Man in the NHL. according to him Reinbacher belongs to the same tier as Simon Nemec and Jiricek (selected six overall in the draft 2022)
  9. I see Reinbacher playing in a Top 4 role with 20+ minutes per night in 2 years from now. He has already played 2 seasons against man at the age of 16/17 and has therefore in his draft year one more season at pro level under his belt than Seider. Both have lots in common: play a mature game in their draft year, play in all situations, played against quality opposition at the Worlds in their draft year, both have excellent hockey and defensive awareness, impact in all three zones, both played in their draft year on the top pairing! Give Reinbacher another two years in Switzerland and he will rock the NHL like Seider did. Seider played 23+minutes as a rookie in a top 4 role in Detroit. I see a similar scenario for Reinbacher because both players have so much in common. It took Seider 2 years to make his debut in the NHL - first year in Grand Rapids and second year in Rögle, SHL. Best thing for Reinbacher is to continue playing in Kloten, Switzerland for 2 more season, he will get plenty of ice time, coachs trusts him on the PK and PP and he can finish his professional training as a recruiter in summer 2024.
  10. I'm pretty sure that one team is going to take a flyer on Simashev in the top 15. This kid has the potential to become a No.1 defenceman down the road. Have no idea what team this could be but I have a feeling that this is going to happen. Most important thing is to have a looonng conversation with simashev about his willingness to play in the NHL and to find out if he has the work ethic to put in the work to become one hell of a NHL D-Man. I can also imagine that one team in the top 10 is going to pick Oliver Moore. He's arguable the best transition player in this years draft. He literally flies through the neutral zone.
  11. dynamic offensive swedish defencemen like Adam Boqvist, Söderström, Liljegren and Sandin-Pellikka all looked great with their excellent skating on the larger european ice. It's apparent that the advantage of outstanding skating seems to diminish on the smaler north american ice. Once these prospects play on the smaller ice in north america they do no longer look that dominant. Based on what I have seen from Boqvist, Söderström and Liljegren I highly doubt that ASP will become more than a No.4 D-Man in the NHL. Sandin Pellikka struggled in the SHL on a stacked Skellefteä team and was demoted to the Junior team during the season. I agree that he looked great when playing against his peers, in the swedish U20 Nationell and in the under 18 tournament but he hasn't proved to be effective playing against men at the pro level. Hence the risk associated with Sandin Pellikka is far greater than the risk of selecting a player like Reinbacher who has already played 2 years against men at pro level. to sum it up: there will be plenty of options for the Canucks at #11 and therefore it will be crucial for Allvin and his team to spend lots of time to evaluate these prospects to make sure they make the right choice. Are Canucks willing to take another gamble or do they decide to go with the safe pick? That's the key question from my point of view.
  12. Nope. Steve and his head of scouting Kris Draper made the long journey to Austria to scout Reinbacher in the game Austria - Czechia in late April. Steve is going to hit gold again.
  13. Here is what I heard about Sale: He's a boom or bust prospect because he has great moments in games but is invisible at the same time for 50 + minutes of the game. The thing that is really concerning is that he's not going to put in the effort / work ethic on a consistent basis. This type of player is not going to engage in puck battles along the boards and in the corners. He's a shiny and fancy player that excels in showing his goal scoring prowess and skill occasionally. In the NHL you simply can't take off shifts and be not engaged. My predictiion: he will not be selected in the top 15. There's even a good chance that he falls outside of the top 20. agree with your assessment that Leonard is going to be selected in the top 10, because he is a centre and therefore holds more value to teams compared to wingers. Dvorsky has the type of player teams like Philadelphia and Washington like. He's tall and has strengh with a great two - way game. One scouting service even mentioned that Dvorsky has the best defensive game for a center since Patrice Bergeron. As @illunga already mentioned he 's projected to be a match up 2nd line centre. I don't see him getting past Washington.
  14. there's at least three teams in the top ten that have Reinbacher very high on their draft boards. Believe me: Reinbacher won't fall out of the top ten. Based on the information I have I wouldn't rule out that we a similar scenario as the Seider pick. It is very likely that a team that is picking very early is going to take a big swing and this team will shock the hockey world. If the GM of this team changes his mind on draft day there is still two teams that are very interested in taking Reinbacher.
  15. draft 2011, 7th round, pick 210. Has been the best D-Man in the NL - top league in Switzerland for many years. Just look at the ranking for D-Man for the season 2022/2023. Worth to look slight further down than only at the top spot.
  16. Time to add a little bit more love to this thread
  17. I guess Peter Thiel who is a very successful investor and made a fortune with some of his investments won't run to the bank to pull some money from his bank account. Well, most experts saw the writing on the wall with the dynamic rate hikes not only of the FED but all of the federal reserve banks around the world, for instance the ECB in Europe. Really interesting is the massive finanical impact of the rate hikes seen as unrealized losses on the balance sheets of the banks. Kinda jaw dropping that the unrealized loss related to held maturity bonds at BOA equals 43% of their equity. That's quite a number. How to deal with this situaton? The best thing i can imagine is to bring BOA's CEO on Jim Cramers show and tell the investors that the bonds are safe, safe as Fort Knox .
  18. What a blast from Reinbacher on the PP to open the scoring . In addition the accuracy of the shot is notable shooting the puck five hole. Enthusiastic playoff atmosphere in the stands. Ray Ferraro talked about the special atmosphere in European buildings recently on the Ray & Dregs podcast. Ray's son plays pro-hockey in Germany's top league and Ray has been in Germany several times to watch his son playing hockey.
  19. Yzerman has not only a plan but also a strategy how to build a stanley cup contender. He takes full advantage of one of the best draft classes in recent years adding more talent to the team, whereas the Canucks decided not to take full advantage of the deep draft. In a couple of years we'll see what approach has proven to be more successful. Yeah, some prospects won't pan out but with the sheer number of picks in the first two rounds of the draft you'll add at least two more impact players to the roster.
  20. Reinbacher opened the scoring on the PP in yesterdays game against SC Bern and added another primary assist making it a two-point game for him. Yesterday's game was the second in the play-in round for the playoffs and his team won the game 4-1 at home. The series against SC Bern is now tied (1-1). Making it to the play-in round for the playoffs is already a huge success for this team.
  21. I think that a closer look at Dvorsky's game reveals some interesting details. He has some great strengths in his game but also some areas that most likely would hamper his transition to game in North America. I do no longer care about the draft because I am pretty sure that Allvin will use the Canucks first round pick to add another top D-Man to the team.
  22. It's common sense to test critical configuration changes in a test environment in order to see if the intended changes to the system function properly. It's a blatant mistake to make such configuration changes in the live-version of the system. In my opinion this outage is classic example for the non-competence of this technical engineer. Therefore I wouldn't blame the massive lay-offs at Twitter for this specific outage. I worked at a large US-Company which is listed in the S&P 500 and I implemented some IT systems in close cooperation with the IT department. Evertime we implemented a new IT system or made upgrades to IT systems we tested the changes in a test environment. I can't believe that a technical engineer at Twitter makes such a critical change to the system in the live version. Unbelievable. Thanks for sharing.
  23. I highly doubt that he would be willing to move to North America in his draft +1 year, because he's currently in the midst of a 2- year professional training stint. He receives training as a recruiter in a HR department in a company. The company he's with is a team sponsor. He takes his second project seriously and therefore I expect that he will complete his training in summer 2024. Headcoach Jeff Tomlinson has already talked to him and highlighted that staying with the team for another year would greatly benefit his development as a player. Keep in mind, that he has a big role on his team. He's the No.1 Defenceman and plays in all situations. One NHL scout who watched several games said that Reinbacher was the best player in these games for EHC Kloten.
  24. This trade deadline proved that Boeser can't be moved even though 1. Canucks have given his agent permission to talk to other teams 2. Canucks are willing to retain money 3. Canucks are willing to add a sweetener. To resign Boeser at $6,65 is one of the worst decisions from a Canucks GM in Canucks history. Below is a good report from Emily Kaplan about Boeser's situation ahead of the trade deadline. Boeser next out of Vancouver? Brock Boeser's name has circulated in trade rumors for years. But he admitted to reporters in Vancouver on Wednesday that this time it feels different. Behind the scenes, the Canucks and Boeser have agreed, it would be best for the winger to get a fresh start. A ton of teams have showed interest in Boeser, who has always had a knack for scoring -- but teams have also balked at his salary: $6.65 million through 2024-25. From teams I've talked to, the Canucks are open to retaining some salary if it nets a good return, and have even talked about including other draft capital in a deal. As of this week, it seemed like a 50/50 proposition if Boeser got traded before Friday, or over the summer.
