  1. If you put your shoes into a GM of an NHL franchise consider the cost for acquiring a RHD. Here u go: Calgary acquired Hamonic from New York for a 2018 first round pick, a 2018 second round pick and either a second round pick in 2019 or 2020. Along with Hamonic, the Islanders also sent a fourth round selection in 2019 or 2020. Wouldn't it be much better to draft a RHD and add a top six winger to the team in free agency or in a trade?
  2. hockeyprospects have him not at #10 but at #11. https://www.hockeyprospect.com/2019-nhl-draft-rankings/ To be honest: I don't care about Craig Button's mock draft. I don't care about Craig Button's latest nhl draft ranking. I wanna a 1 on 1 with Craig so badly and would like to ask him: Craig: would you please let me know your reasoning having Broberg at #10 and Seider at #26? Pretty curious what his answer would be.
  3. I really like your thinking. Gaudette most likely would not fetch a 1st round pick.
  4. Draisaitl on Seider: "He plays like a 35-year-old, almost," said Draisaitl, teammates with Seider at the World Championship. "He's so calm and so collected. It's pretty fun to watch. Hopefully he keeps developing the way that we think he will and you know he's going to be a special player. NHL director of European scouting, Goran Stubb on Seider: "Seider is a powerful player with very good overall skills," said NHL director of European Scouting Goran Stubb. "Strong, mature, skilled and a solid two-way player. Effective in all situations. Good hockey sense and plays an effective simple game."
  5. Björnfot is my favourite player at #40. I like him more than Lassi Thomson and Kaeden Korczak. Not sold on the forwards which might be available at #40. Did a lot of research on the forwards who might be available at #40 but could not found a player I really like. I like Samuel Poulin a lot. Very promising: he is a sniper with a booming shot, has good playmaking skills, already an NHL frame. Unfortunately he will not be there at #40 on draft day. He will go 1st round, most likely.
  6. not sure if this in has already been posted: Kelowna Rockets President/General Manager, Bruce Hamilton made a statement regarding reports from a Finnish based scouting service that Lassi Thomson will return to his hometown team in Finland. “We’re aware of the report that was released today,” said Hamilton. “We were somewhat surprised; however, Lassi has always been under contract to Ilves as they had to release him to play for us this past season. We look forward to the NHL Draft this upcoming June. We are hopeful that whichever NHL team drafts him and his club team Ilves decides that playing for the Rockets is in his best interest.”
  7. Edmonton Oilers sign up fast-skating Swedish attacker Joakim Nygard, Swedish sources report David Staples, Edmonton Journal Updated: May 23, 2019 Share Adjust Comment Print The Edmonton Oilers have signed up small, speedy Swedish attacker Joakim Nygard, report Swedish hockey sources. Joakim Nygård väljer Edmonton Oilers, avslöjar @VFekberg https://t.co/Whqpnd9IYk — Johan Svensson (@MrMadhawk) May 23, 2019 Here’s what Uffe Bodin of Sweden’s Hockeysverige has said of the player: “Speed is the key word here. Joakim Nygård is one of, if not the fastest player in the SHL right now. He owns the kind of footspeed that can overwhelm opposing defensemen and leave them in a pile of dust, but also to put pressure on the forecheck and the backcheck. Carl Hagelin would be an obvious comparison…Early in his career, speed was the only asset Nygård really had. Thanks to hard work and good schooling, he has been able to build a nice game around that foundation.” Joakim Nygard Nygard had the second most goals of any player in the Swedish elite league last year The Journal’s Jim Matheson reports on the player: “Book on Joakim Nygard, Swedish forward Oilers are trying to sign: ‘real fast, OK skill, 3-4 liner, unless I’m not seeing something.’ That’s former Oiler goalie Mike Zanier who works as Vaxjo Lakers broadcaster in the Swedish Hockey League.” At The Athletic, writer Corey Pronman ranked Nygard as the 11th most desirable UFA out of major junior, U.S. colleges and Europe this summer: “There are some scouts who don’t see him as a real prospect, but some teams gave him attention, and folks in Sweden think he has the right skill set to produce offense in North America.” My take Nygard sounds promising and is a good fit here. He immediately slots in on the Oilers second line, with a centre like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Leon Draisaitl. He has a chance to do something with the opportunity handed to Tobias Rieder, Ryan Spooner, Drake Caggiula, Jesse Puljujarvi, Kailer Yamamoto and others last season. It won’t be difficult to accomplish more than they did, but the Oilers will be hoping for much more, not 0 to ten goals but 15 to 20. The Swedish publication Värmlands Folkblad reports that 20 NHL teams were after Nygard. Edmonton also has a strong contingent of Swedish players, starting with Adam Larsson and Oscar Klefbom. The Oilers are going to have to be clever in procurement. The UFA market will be crazy. For example, Brock Nelson, 27, of the Islanders just signed a six year deal at $6 million per. Nelson is a big centre who doesn’t win most of his draws and scores 40 to 50 points per year. If the Oilers want a winger who scores around 50 points per year and is in his UFA years, that’s the price point. It’s high. It’s too high.
  8. would like to quote Cam Robinson (Dobber prospects) in terms of the potential / upside: Moritz Seider, RHD / 6’4 183lbs / 04-06-01 / DEL Mobile right-shot defender with good instincts and a projectable frame. A little rough around the edges, but that doesn’t hide his massive upside. An athletic piece of clay just waiting to be moulded into a work of art. Philip Broberg, LHD / 06-25-01 / 6’3 199lbs / Allsvenskan One of the more powerful skating strides in this class. At his size, his ability to wheel out of the zone is unique. Lacks the puck-handling skills necessary to be proficient offensively at it at this stage though. Can be accused of trying to do too much. Oozes potential. A raw prospect with big upside. Seider has the much better puck skills than Broberg -another area in which Seider has an edge over Broberg-. Both have massive upside.
  9. Let's take Sidney Crosby as an example. How many concussions has he been suffered throughout his career and is still one of the best forwards in the league. Injuries happen. Injuries like the shoulder injuries did not prevent Seider to play extremely well in the playoffs. He is playing very well today coming off a concussion at the highest international level in the quarter final against a top team like the Czech Republic. He showed incredible hands in the neutral zone ahead of Germany's tying goal in the 2nd period.
  10. he sustained a shoulder injury in the midst of the regular season (December or January). He returned too early and injured the same shoulder again. He came back very strong and had a hell of a playoff series.
  11. agree 100%. Makes zero sense to state it publicly what player they want with their 1st round pick.
  12. It is hard to predict Broberg’s future. The player has all the talent needed to become a major piece of an NHL organization, but with the trouble he has had adapting in the second division in Sweden means that question marks linger. He will not be ready for the NHL for a couple of years, but who is to say that he cannot become a very good — even the best — defensive player in his draft class? It will take time, and the club that drafts him will have to be patient, yet persistent, with his development. Let's assume that this hockey analyst is right and Broberg needs a couple of years to become a NHL D-Man. Let's make a quick comparison - high level only - Broberg: - LHD - long term project with bust potential - couple of years away - same upside as Seider - size, skating identical to size, skating of Seider Seider - RHD, fills a positional need - NHL ready at the beginning of the 2019/2020 campaign - safest bet according to a European scouting service which has been scouting him for more than 3 years - playoff proven - plays at the highest international level at the age of 18 - same upside as Broberg - identical size, skating as Broberg ------> pretty easy decision from my point of view.
  13. Benning & smokescreen that really goes against the grain . Must be in another universe. Benning has a preference for swedish players because of the great selection he and his team made with Pettersson or that a swede in Gradin is part of the scouting team. I can't believe that this is really a smokescreen.....
  14. Robertson has tons of luck - he has a a real good headcoach in Rob Wilson (one of the best headcoaches in Germany's top league, DEL the last couple of seasons).
  15. his potential is limitless - what a statement
  16. nhl scouts have been scouting him not only throughout the whole regular season but also in the playoffs (a whole playoff series which ended in the cup win, he played freaking good in the final series). In addition he played some games at the worlds and nhl scouts were around again. Believe me, some NHL teams have not only a grasp of him as a player they know him pretty well.
  17. There is a good chance that all of Broberg/Seider/Harley might become top pairing guys if they tap their full potential. Ceiling of those guys are really high. Some of the scouting reports / scouting services saying that all of them of massive upside / ton of upside. - Harley has to work on his defensive game, most likely needs 1-2 seasons in the minors - Broberg is a long term project, he is 1-2 years behind in his development compared to Seider - Seider is well ahead in his development compared to his peers. Headcoach of team Germany (Toni Söderholm, a finn and a former D-Man, playing in the top leagues in Finland - Liiga, Switzerland - NLA and Germany - DEL) told the media that we all should enjoy Seider's game and that he can improve his game in every area (lot's of untapped potential, even already playing against men at the highest international level). Most likely all of these players are listed in the mid of the 1st round because they are still quiet raw.
  18. wish-list for the draft: 1st round: Moritz Seider, RHD - rookie of the year in the DEL 2nd round: Tobias Bjornfot, LHD - best D-Man in the swedish J20 3rd round: Jake Lee - LHD - (2018/2019 Seattle Thunderbirds - 2019/2020: Kelowna Rockets) . This kid can skate like hell - backwards and forwards. see "u" guys on draft day
  19. two options: option 1: NHL, if the GM of the NHL team and Seider's agent agree that this would make sense for both option 2: another year in the DEL with his team, Adler (Eagles) Mannheim, wouldn't hurt
  20. AIK Stockholm (Broberg's team ) finished the campaign 2018/2019 at the top of the rankings. - most goals scored with 172 - most points 109 - 11 points ahead of the team that finished 2nd. https://www.flashscore.com/hockey/sweden/hockeyallsvenskan/standings/
  21. Satiar Shah: Teams are not able to walk away from salary arbitration awards if they are under $4.39 million. The Vancouver Canucks may not be interested in going through salary arbitration with Carter Hutton because of that. There is a chance that if they can’t trade or sign him to an extension, they could not qualify him. carter hutton, funny
  22. accoring to reports available on the german media he is "okay". He is feeling better and better. The day after the hit he went through the concussion protocol. Okay sounds like he can play tomorrow against CAN and the day after against the States.
  23. Aggressiveness - 8.5 Size - 9 Skating _____9 _ IQ ______8___ Hands___7______ Offensive____7___ Defensive______9__ Professionalism/Personality ______9_____ professionalism rated at 9 is based on Moritz Seider's statements in an interview he gave to the german media (below is the translated version): “You just have to work harder than everyone else and I think that’s the case with me. While many of my teammates drove home after three or four hours, I pushed extra shifts. But you also have to be crazy about the sport. At home, I watched a lot of videos of my role models and paid attention to what differentiates them from other players, what they do better. I think that you also have to deal with your sport away from the ice. But I’m also very ambitious, never give up.” -Moritz Seider defensive rated at 9 is based on "eye test" what I have seen from him in the games at the worlds so far. first of I would like to mention that he played on the top pairing together with Dennis Seidenberg's younger brother Yannic Seidenberg. In the game against Denmark he thwarted a 2 on 1 (Seider the last D) in a manner only the best NHL D-Men are capable of. He went down to the ice in order to prevent the forward on the outside making a cross ice pass to the other forward skating towards the high slot. That was an real strong defensive play. Don't agree with the hockey analyst who wrote the report on last word on hockey that Seider needs to improve his positioning. Gap control and positioning are really strong from my personal perspective (I have been watching hockey for more than 25 years and I know what I am talking about).
  24. Ducks already have Cam Fowler, Hampus Lindholm, Josh Manson, Brendan Guhle, Jacob Larsson, Josh Mahura, Can't see a positional need at D for Anaheim. Most likely lot's of highly skilled forwards available at #9.
