found some more information about him: Intesting comparison with Calen Addison in terms of stats included. https://www.habseyesontheprize.com/nhl-entry-draft-picks-2018/2018/6/4/17417574/jett-woo-2018-nhl-draft-profile-stats-highlights-video-analysis-scouting-report Thoughs: (from the writer David St. Louis) Woo is one of the players that likely has widely different rankings on NHL teams' lists. It comes down to whether they believe in his ability to use the tools he has to further his offensive potential and become a top-four defenceman who’s able to generate good scoring chances when on the ice. He remains an attractive option thanks to his great skating, decent size, physicality, and defensive reliability. He also showed that he could be leaned on and performed well at the start of the season when the Warriors didn't have their number-one defenceman. I wouldn't look to him in the first round, or early second round, but there are still arguments to be made for him in that range. It’s very possible to see him take the strides he didn't in the second half of the season and make a lot of teams regret passing on him.

Just curious: What makes you believe that Tryamkin will return after all what's happened?

On May 30, 2018 there was a report in the Vancourier about the Canucks scouting meeting. Based on the information in bold the scouts had a vividly and very controversial discussion about a centremen. My guess is, that they had discussed Tyler Madden. “You want to be strong-minded, but not pigheaded” — Behind the scenes of a Canucks scouting meeting Canucks release video of a closed-door scouting meeting heading into 2018 NHL Draft. There’s another intriguing interaction towards the end of the video, as they discuss a centre that they originally didn’t like. “First round pick, you know, I was kind of sour,” says Dan Palango about the player, “ but then I ground out what these guys told me, then we watch him with a different eye and the fact that his character’s so high, he won me over.” “By the end of the week, probably he’s going to be our biggest jumper,” says Brackett. “This guy was not on our 45, was on the player type, and I think even in the two-way player type he was down quite a bit, and he’s pushing into the top-six among centres right now.” It’s a telling moment, confirmed a moment later by Weisbrod. The Canucks will come out with a list of 45 players for the draft, supplemented by positional lists. That seems like a small list — 217 players will get selected at the draft — but this is evidently not unusual across the NHL. A portion of these scouting meetings across the NHL is dedicated to rejecting players rather than selecting them. If they’ve determined that one flaw (or a group of flaws) will prevent a prospect from making the NHL or being an impact player, it’s understandable why they would just leave him off their list entirely. Perhaps that prospect would be someone you would consider in the fourth round, but if he’s a likely second-round pick, why bother putting him on your list? Still, 45 players is a short list and it makes you wonder where late-round picks like Palmu and Matt Brassard were on that list last year. Benning identified Palmu as a player that analytics alerted them to and he’s the type of swing-for-the-fences pick that I would like to see more of in later rounds. So, who is the centre that went from outside their list of 45 players (and low on their list of two-way players) to near the top of their list of centres? There’s simply not enough information in the video to even make an educated guess, but if the Canucks grab a centre with a third or fourth-round pick, the speculation will surely begin that he was the one.

The Allsvenskan is only the second tier league in Sweden. It's quite a step from a second tier league in Europe to the NHL. Yes, he was playing against men the whole year, but the compete level in the NHL is at another level. I would assume that he is going to play with the Comets in the 2017/2018 campaign in order to adjust to the Northamerican way of hockey. Skill level is by far higher than the skill level of Gaunce, Leipsic, that's for sure.

There is no stupid question. He does not require waivers. Good chance that he is going to play in Utica, even so he is graduated and needs to play in the NHL. It's on him to work on his two-way game.

2017 NHL Draft - Chicago, Illinois June 23-24 2017

@ Setyoureyesontheprize Congrats! You were the first user presenting Elias Pettersson's profile on May 1, 2017 on page 205 of this thread. Your nickname "setyoureyesontheprize" indicates that you knew well ahead of this years draft that the Canucks would select Pettersson. Nice job. Amazing that your post did not get a lot of attention. The interest was at best cursory and at worst nonexistent. @ admins: wouldn't mind to close this thread with this post -
He is going to be a part of the Växjö Lakers in the SHL.

This! Man.. Can't believe that Jim told the media that he is leaning towards a forward at #33. Connor Timmins at #33 is such a steal. -

Robertson is a poor skater based on the scouting reports I have read so far on him. Isaac Ratcliff would be a much better optin than Robertson. Jim is high on speed. Hence, I am pretty sure that Robertson is not on Jim' List at #33. I admit that he is an excellent sniper. -

Me too, bad luck. You never now how this guy will turn out (russian factor, serious shoulder injury). It would have been a gamble for the canucks. Better Canucks pick safe. -

Canucks are thinner than a supermodel at LW. Hence would assume that Jim targets either Isaac Ratcliff (LW) or Maxime Comtois (LW) at #33. Both players have size ..... -

Timmins = RHD, excellent puck mover, good skater, top four D-pairing potential, better offensive numbers last season than Valimaki (picked at #16). 'Nuff said. -

Wanna see that Canucks get another first round pick in the range 10 - 20 to pick Liljegren. He is a true PP QB & a RHD. That's exactly the type of player Jim is looking for. Don't care if Jim packages #33 & #55 or sends the #55 along with either Hutton or Sbisa to get that additional first round pick. I think Liljegren would be worth it. Jim spoke very highly of Liljegren. Therefore I guess that Jim is still trying to work out a trade to get another first round pick. -

Canucks Now @CanucksNow Benning: "Looking past Henrik, we need a guy that can come in and play in our top 9 and set the wingers up for scoring chances." #Canucks Honestly don't get Benning's rationale here. Henrik is a #1C and Benning wants a top 9 C as a replacement. Sounds weird, very weird. ........... -

Yeah, Heiskanen is supposed to be off the board at #4. In case he is still available at #5 I guess the consensus of this forum is that the Canucks are going to pick a Centre (one of Vilardi, Glass, Mittelstadt, Petterson). -

Not sure if this has been already posted (The 2017 "Do Not Draft" List, The Hockey Writers, published on June 11, 2017): The 2017 “Do Not Draft” List Casey Mittelstadt (Rank: 3rd NA) Don’t get me wrong, Mittelstadt will become a good hockey player. I just think he’s not the third best player in this draft. I’d rather have Gabriel Vilardi, Owen Tippett, Cody Glass, Miro Heiskanen and Cale Makar over Mittelstadt. If Mittelstadt starts falling down on draft night, then it’s a good idea to grab him. He’s in the top 10-12 for me, not top three. Timothy Liljegren (Rank: 6th Euro) This might be an unpopular opinion, but Liljegren is not a first rounder for me. The reason he makes this list is that there are teams that could take him in the top-10. Given skating and injury concerns, that’s not a chance I’m willing to take. I’ve seen a lot of chatter that the Sabres would take him eighth overall. He’s my eighth-ranked defenseman. The other seven? Heiskanen, Makar, Valimaki, Foote, Timmins, Hague and Jokiharju. This writer holds the view that Liljegren is not even a first rounder. Wow. Interesting Stuff, I would say. If that's truly the case and he drops out of the first round Canucks have to snag him at #33. -

I did some research on Vaakanainen one month ago and found that he already has played 66 games in the top Finnish league, 14 playoff games and is one of the youngest players who played in the Champions Hockey League in Europe. He is an excellent skater and puck mover. He can be deployed in all situations, he is an anchor on the PPK. Based on his record I would say he is on the verge of becoming an NHL D-Man. He is considered as the most-mature D-Man from his age-group. He played more games in the Finnish Top League than Heiskanen. The most thing I like about him is, that he is able to get the puck out of the D-Zone, either with a great first pass or by transitioning the puck up ice. I really like him. Nevertheless, in case a RHD like Connor Timmins would be available at #33 I guess the Canucks would choose a RHD, because they have more pressing needs on the right side (they probably lose Tanev, what happens to Guddy is highly uncertain). -

Based on the scouting reports I have read on him I believe he would be an excellent choice at #55. Few scouting services even has him ranked in the first round, to be more specific at the end of the first round. -

The fact that he is able to play on the right side as a lefthanded D-Man should make him intriguing for the Canucks, especially as a possible replacement for Tanev. -

Vilardi at # 6 Pettersson at #8 -----> Craig expects Vilardi to have a better career than Pettersson. Hence Vilardi's value is considered to be higher than Pettersson's. Interesting. -

I would say that they are different players. Heiskanen is more agile and probably a better skater than Olli Juolevi. In addition Heiskanen can also play the right side. He played the right side on D along with Juolevi at the left side. Both project as top-4 D-Man. Some scouting services see Heiskanen even as a Top Pairing D-Man. You are right, both of them do not play overly physical. Both are pretty good puck movers. Generally speaking I don't see much of a difference between them. -

Wolfgang Durst replied to hyper00's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
I think the biggest need for the Canucks - apart from the playmaking centre - is the right side on defence. Erik Brannstrom is a LHD. Canucks have already a very intriguing prospect with Olli Juolevi on the left side on defence. I heard that the Canucks interviewed Callan Foote at the Combine. Would indicate that they target a RHD at the draft. Both RHD prospects, Connor Timmins and Callan Foote should be available at #17. -

Based on the rumors surrounding Tanev I am pretty sure that JB at least considers a trade with Dallas: To Dallas: Tanev / To VAN: #3 overall. Let's wait one or two weeks and we all know. -

What makes you believe that it could be Necas? Necas is ranked in the majority of draft rankings outside the Top 10. Picking him at #5 doesn't make sense. Trading down to let's say #10 or later would probably be sufficient to land him.
