  1. Completely agree. I think JB could pull this off but not the cascading moves like moving out Schmidt etc. I already feel like his desire to make bold moves will come up drastically short.
  2. I mean if the cost is low then we could see a F lineup like this: Hoglander Pettersson Tarasenko Pearson Miller Boeser Highmore Horvat Podkolzin Motte Dickinson Lind
  3. So would St Louis accept a 2nd rounder or something small for Vladdy to not have him go through expansion? That would be epic mentor for Podz.
  4. Sign Larsson (Big Swede top pairing guy) and Zadorov (Giant defensive D and the Russian factor that JB wants for Podz coming over): Hughes Larsson Zadorov Schmidt Rathbone Myers Joulevi
  5. How about all three? If they take these guys and it doesn’t work out they can flip them for more assets.
  6. Gotta do something new. Same old thing won’t cut it. Just go huge and offer 9OA, Boeser and Schmidt for Laine and Jones Miller Pettersson Laine Hughes Jones only half kidding….
  7. Mario. If not for injuries, would likely be in a similar place as Wayne. Feel like Jagr could be on the list too. Mario - Jagr combo the greatest of all time.
  8. Calgary Flames are proud to select with the 102nd overall pick from Loko Yaroslavl, Vladislav Lukashevich @Mike Vanderhoek
  9. I think Hamonic is a must and we need another solid RD option as well. Schmidt should go for a true RD option (Still would push for Ristolainen, but that's not the point). My main concern is that JB will spend all of his effort here and run out of time to truly improve the team. He'll either get too late into the process and miss out (Toffoli) or get too late into the process and panic (Roussel). Either way, this needs to be sorted right away or we need to move on.
  10. It would fully depend on what Suter comes in at. It would be way below Edler (From last year's salary) and if Hamonic is only a slight increase it should fit. Not convinced Schmidt is the right guy on the 3rd pair, however maybe he swaps with Hamonic from time to time when Hughes Schmidt need to push the pace.
  11. Yeah the buyout of Suter this year didn't make any sense. They need him and what are they going to do to replace him? Parise makes sense however.
  12. If we set it up this way and kept Schmidt, I would start with the following: Hughes Hamonic Suter Myers Rathbone Schmidt (or UFA like Bogosian if we moved him) Joulevi
  13. I think if we bring Hamonic back along with Myers being here, both of them would complement Suter pretty well. Some flexibility to determine which one has better chemistry. I think if Suter comes in, we move Schmidt out, which we likely are already.
  14. Boy would that be nice. Parise could be okay depth for cheap, but Suter I feel is still a very strong D man. Now he has a chip on his shoulder too. Just think of the drive coming from both Miller and Suter. Yes please!
  15. Calgary Flames are proud to select with the 90th overall pick from the Kitchener Rangers, Roman Schmidt
  16. Calgary Flames are proud to select with the 83rd overall pick from MHK Krylia Sovetov Moskva, Matvei Petrov
  17. Calgary Flames are proud to select with the 82nd overall pick from the Quebec Ramparts, James Malatesta:
  18. Calgary Flames are proud to select with the 73rd overall from the Saskatoon Blades, Colton Dach.
  19. Are any of the players in this draft likely to step into an NHL lineup right away? Assuming Power and Beniers might be but anybody else?
  20. Pretty sure JB would see the left side as our foundation with RD as complimentary players. A left side consisting of elite Hughes and OEL and Rathbone and Joulevi battling for the third spot is a good balance. RD would be Hamonic, Myers, UFA and Chatfield. I think OEL has only regressed a bit due to the Arizona franchise. I think he’d get renewed life with another team
  21. Agreed! We need 4 good D per side: LD Hughes OEL Rathbone Joulevi Injuries and growing pains will swap Joulevi in regularly.
  22. He's still a top pairing guy. I think he ages better than Schmidt will too. If they swap these guys, and OEL is around 6M for the duration with AZ retention, I think we jump at it.
  23. Schmidt + for Tarasenko: Hoglander Pettersson Tarasenko Lind Miller Boeser Pearson Horvat Podkolzin Motte Highmore MacEwen No idea why the Blues would do this but it's fun to think about
  24. OEL is a far superior D man to Schmidt in my mind but that contract is not great. If Arizona retains it down to around 7M then I think we should proceed if it’s roughly 1-1.
