It's amazing what speed and quicker thinking does for a lineup. Canucks have taken a big step forward with Hoglander, MacEwen, Schmidt and even players like Joulevi who are faster skaters and thinkers than players like Loui, Tanev etc. Good year for the Canucks last year but there are still plays where they were slower and took too long to process the play. This year we have the potential for that to be much improved and we saw it so far in a single sample set.

[Signing] Canucks sign Travis Hamonic
Kobayashi Maru replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Steal of a deal and who knows maybe it will go well and he’ll re-sign fir a couple more after. Our cap flexibility should be okay going into our bigger core re-signings. -
Dallas/Helsinki Stars heading into Free Agency: Tolvanen - Hischier - McGill UFA - Horton- Puljujarvi Kotkaniemi - Ristimaki - Lapierre Farkas - UFA – Kylmala Byram – Jones Regula - Eggert Pesonen - Perunovich Could look to add a Playmaker/Finesse elite/top line LW though trade.

[PTO] Travis Hamonic with Canucks
Kobayashi Maru replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Has it been determined the details of what they are signing him for? Would assume that would happen PDQ as the start of the season is almost upon us: JB: Hey Travis G, can he still stand on the ice after one skate? TG: Yep JB: Hey Travis H, sign here for our remaining cap space -

Looks like once to me, jk. -
Hard to believe this was actually going to happen. They were going to allow up to 3800 fans into the building for games and potentially Raptors games too. I guess you can’t see that you are the epicentre when you are in the middle of it: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nba/article/fans-no-longer-allowed-lightning-raptors-games-due-covid-19-spike/

Yes. He’s definitely earned it up to this point. There is no way they go back on the word of “come to camp and earn it and we’ll make room” -

Most things are just as expected. Few things I’ve noticed: -Hoglander is ready and will be high energy add to the team. -Joulevi is definitely ready and will be a nice stable D this year -Woo will be good down the road. He’s got a Bieksa-esque style to him. Couple year away. -Cut our losses with Gadjovich at some point. He can’t hit properly or handle the puck at all. -Bailey could easily be 4th line if we didn’t have 6 4th liners already. -Breezer looks like Tanev now. Steady and calm. -

Didn't see the whole clip of this, but it looks like Hughes is just casually skating in while whistling a tune and deking Holtby out of his pads.... -
Sorry @Nail thought the spreadsheet showed limits for F and D as long as they hit the minimums. In that case Calgary: -Sends down Sami Niku -Recalls Nikita Tryamkin -Retains Joakim Blichfeld on the NHL roster

Yeah I fully agree with you that he was a big loss. I think he was likely like an Ian Clark level coach on D and FW. Big loss but somebody will step up in his place. -

While I agree that would be awesome too, it may be really tough to get the Maple Leafs permission to have Malhotra mentor our guys now. Speaking of Malholtra I think he'll be an NHL head coach as soon as next year. -
