Eriksson is still on the books and the only way that changes is if he retires or a team needs to hit the cap floor (Unlikely this year but maybe next year this would work). With that said, our team is on the upward trajectory. It may seem early but we have started our window. We need to ice the best team we can with the contracts we have. What that likely means is that if Baertschi, MacEwen, Roussel, Hoglander all beat out Eriksson on performance (Virtual guarantee), then Eriksson goes to the Taxi squad or Utica. -

I don't think that situation would have any impact on future FAs. There is a certain expectation around performance, and Eriksson is well below that. I think FAs could actually see that as a positive in that the Canucks would do what it takes to build a winner. -

I think either option is actually pretty good so we'll likely see it mixed up a bit. One other element, is while Hamonic is a fairly tough customer (More than Tanev at least), Myers is a bigger physical deterrent for other teams. This may be important within the Northern (Scotia, haha) Div as it will be a playoff like atmosphere within the first two weeks. -

Assistant coach: "Put your mask on properly Green. You are not actively eating or singing the anthem." or Roussel: "I could have always been a puck moving D man. Watch this!" -

Yeah that's what I was thinking as well. Hamonic and Myers could easily be swapped. From what I recall Myers may be a slightly better puck mover than Hamonic which is why they may try Joulevi with Myers to give Joulevi a bit of insulation that way. Hughes needs no help so Hamonic with him may work fairly well too. Baertschi has had a lot of time off to heal, but also to reflect a bit. If his health issues are fully behind him, then I think he makes this team better. He could add some real skill and drive to the third line which could actually make that line a bit of a threat against weaker D pairings. It's a bit odd to not have Beagle in the lineup, but Sutter is the slight upgrade here. Beagle and MacEwen slot in pretty seamlessly when injuries hit. -

Lots of moving parts still but I have a sneaky suspicion we could see the following unless there are any major changes in camp. This would be my prediction as of now: Miller Pettersson Boeser Pearson Horvat Hoglander Baertschi Gaudette Virtanen Roussel Sutter Motte Extra: Beagle, MacEwen Hughes Myers Edler Schmidt Joulevi Hamonic Extra: Benn Demko Holtby -
Well, the Calgary Flames are currently done in Free Agency, and our roster is starting to shape up during training camp. Likely some final tweaks during the training camp including monitoring some current injuries and whether some prospects make the squad, so we'll get it finalized by the 10th. Here is where we are at today: Hall – McDavid - Perry Ehlers - Monahan - Lindholm Patrick - Kotkaniemi - Puljujarvi Blichfeld - Koivu - Verhaeghe Hanifin - Subban Lindholm - Sanheim Joulevi - Larsson Price Georgiev Scratches: Frolik, Brannstrom, Niku

Huge Marky and Tanev fan, but I think we avoided a very costly mistake by not signing them to 6 and 4 year deals respectively like Cgy did. Those won't age well as soon as this upcoming season to be honest. Bringing in Holtby and Hamonic as direct replacements are a near wash in skill level, plus we have other pieces in Schmidt etc as adds on top of that. Canucks did exactly what they should have this offseason. -

"when" he returns. It will obviously be 888 since it will still fit just fine. -
Bowen Byram, 11 GP 0 points playing on the first pairing. Perunovich, Pesonen are also at 0 points, but they are on the 3rd pairing. Pick it up boys!!! The nation of Texas needs you!

Well, at least Zemgus Girgensons isn’t my key arrival this year. That should help.

[PTO] Travis Hamonic with Canucks

Definitely a good way to solidify the D. I could also see a scenario where a team loses D to injury in training camp and may throw a 5th rounder our way for Benn. -
[PTO] Travis Hamonic with Canucks
Kobayashi Maru replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Definitely thinking the same thing. The things I like about the mm together is they could really push the pace with our top two lines. Myers is still a good pick mover but in reality I could see them deployed very situationally depending on where we are at in a game or who we are playing. If we sign Hamonic I think Joulevi Hamonic would be a lock to start the year. -

Lots of options on lines but I think it will be: Hughes Schmidt Edler Myers Joulevi Hamonic could see Myers and Schmidt swap a bit. Either way this is a major improvement over the last few years. -
Oh right I completely forgot he was a bust. Should waive Puljujarvi too, haha.
