Or maybe if Schaller has another step forward this year and becomes a 20 g 45 point 3rd liner (that can drive the net Horvat style like his highlights show) then is it Roussell that goes at the 2020 trade deadline to make room?
-
Yeah. Needs to continue to work on his speed. Needs to learn defensive assignments in our system. Needs to keep growing and getting even stronger. Needs to learn the pro game and more pro habits. But is coming along very nicely. And will be even better after a year in Utica. And even better again after two. Think Schaller/Roussell means the Canucks will be very patient with this power forward.

My personal foresight opinion is Petterssen plays a mix of wing and center during his career. He needs to learn center and be an elite switch player. Why? Because I foresee the Canucks will be become better and more deep at center than the EP, Bo, Gaudette model people are predicting. How? I think the Canucks grab an elite Center in the next draft who pushes the future first line to Dahlen 2019 1st Petterssen a Bo Boeser based 2nd then a Gaud based third. And maybe keep Sutter for 4th. With the Lind, Gads, Jasek and Palmus who make the grade filling some of the gaps and future picks and current players (like JV and Baer) filling the rest. But Petterssen being able to slide to C when one of the others goes down makes us stronger. That flexibility and resiliency will make us true contenders in the long run.

Dipietro is not the strong technical goalie. He is a Grant Fuhr type. He battles and wins. He gives his team a chance to win every night. Even when they shouldn't have a chance. He never gives up on a puck. And if McFadden hadn't been in Dipietro's way that whole play Mikey had that save himself.

Heck. Very possible Gaunce and Goldobin and Boucher and Motte. Add kero, Darcy, Hamilton. Then only one or two of Jasek, Dahlen, Palmu, Lind, Gads, MacEwen, and Gaudette can make the Canucks. Utica will have the same logjam as Vancouver and be sending 3 or 4 forwards to Kalamazoo. Maybe have the same issue on defense. Nice problem to have.

I think this is refreshing. So much better than deke deke deke pass and pass back and no one ever shooting.
-
They will do that a lot. Maybe not this year, but soon.

PP on the right half wall opposite BB. We will want someone else playing center on the PP. Probably Bo. Let EP sneak into the zone sometimes he doesn't need to be the primary pick carrier.
-
That what Gaud needs to do. Early and often from Young stars through main camp.
-
That might curb the offense too.

Burr's # won't be retired though. And a year has passed now so maybe they will convince him it's okay to take it. Especially with his second choice being Gadj's number. It is about the next generation now.
-
Need to wait until these guys actually play. I am still thinking EP wants 14 as he wore that number for WJC and probably took 40 at Vaxjo due to another player. I think Juolevi will get another number when he makes the team. Hughes seems to wear several numbers so I am not so sure he takes 43 long term either. If EP doesn't wear 40 I assume Gadj takes it. But eventually Gaud will be the best 88 and Brock is sure to surpass Sami in the 6.

I don't see Schroeder and Palmu as comparables really at all. Different era, different body proportions, different skills, different drive level as a young player and thus I expect different results. Palmu needs more time to develop but I think will play in the NHL in two years or so and hang on the third line for his career.
-
And officially only Bure 96 and McCann 91 have worn numbers in the 90's.

I have Jack as one of the must keep an eye on prospects this year. List is long like last year but with two d-men at the top while last year my list started with two forwards

Only problem I see with that thinking is in my opinion Dahlen and Jasek are in front of Palmu. And Dahlen and Jasek should be better than Goldy at this years camp. Maybe Leipsic too and Baer should be nervous as they can both play Left Wing while I think Palmu is mostly Right Wing.
-
I liked the leipsic gaudette virtanen line. But Gaudette and the plethora of centers available early in the the first round next year are making me think we might be better off to keep EP on the wing. Maybe on the weaker left side this year but eventually on the right with Dahlen on the left.

We will have to see how many guys they manage to give an NHL look this year. In my eyes Pettersen should be a lock to make the team, Gaudette seems to have a chance to make the team but will likely spend some time in Utica. I see Dahlen and Jasek as the two most likely to get a winger call up. With Palmu fighting with Lind, Gads, MacEwen, Carcone etc. Lots of players to evaluate progress on this coming year. And this was just discussing forwards.

Actually still not true though. Exhibition points don't count in season stats. So still zero for this year as it hasn't started yet. Maybe just a little more potential.
-
But exhibition, right?
-
my personal opinion is that the ideal future lineup is more: dahlen 2019 1st Pettersen Virtanen Bo Brock leipsic gaudette Lind gads Sutter Palmu assuming all those guys turn out. I didn't even use Jasek who could fit in any wing
-
So does that mean Jack is better than Quinn and oh boy look out for that third brother?
-
Where is that 2019 1st rounder in that future line up?
-
And probably the balance will be taken up by several players. Improvement from Boeser, Bo, Virtanen, Sutter (with a more offensive role), addition of Roussel, Schaller and whoever we keep of Dahlen, Gaudette, Leipsic, and Goldobin. Hopefully that nets an increase in total goals.

But what everyone is telling you is the twins could be split up. Just like they were every time one was injured. The other one didn't sit in the press box, he played and played as well as when his twin was available. (Actually you could argue better if you look at the stats). The other thing you are not listening to is simply, it does not work like that. 6 guys on the ice from each team. Players assist in others goals most of the time. I believe the stat is that the NHL has on average 1.2 assists per goal. While Henrik and Daniel were both in on a crazy large percentage of the same goals, does it matter if EP scores 30 goals and one guys assists on every goal or 20 guys get the assists if the number of goals and assists is the same? It doesn't. And we still need to replace two contributing players. Note the Canucks are the advantage of chemistry so much they have a system of drafting players who have chemistry already. EP and Dahlen for example. Duos are all the rage and the Canucks are right there at the cutting edge. I just really think you see the your own way and don't wish to hear what others are saying.
