But with having three potentially strong young centers hopefully we continue to draft well in that area and keep feeding potentially strong centers into the ranks and thus not have the problem we had this year when Horvat and Sutter both went down. In that case Pettersson's ability to play wing as well as center is also valuable AND the teams ability to load up lines as well as spread them out allows the team to look different at different times and defeat systems put in place to shut the team down.
-
I don't really think where he plays is all that important. a 100 point Pettersson and a 100 point Boeser with an 80 point Horvat between them taking draws, creating space and driving the net will work just fine. Especially with something like Dahlen Gaudette Lind following that up and something like Gadj Macewen JV following that. Adding to this prospect pool while developing what we have will be exciting. And having the extra guy that can play center down the road insulates from injuries. Horvat goes down and you slide Pettersen over and elevate someone else. Team doesn't lose as much as it does when Horvat goes down right now.

Lind gets back going with what looks like the winning goal with only 1:21 lefr in the game.

The real puzzler to me is that I don't think we see more than three rookies next year......but we have like 10 kids fighting for those three spots. EP, Gaudette, juolevi, Demko, dahlen are obvious but we have a high first round pick and several dark horses in Lind, Brisebois, Chatfield, Macewen to go with a few older rookies like Holm, Boucher and Goldobin. Nothing like competition for spots.

actually and Gadjovich who made Canadian world junior when lind didnt. And without dipietro who team Canada thought was the third best junior goalie in Canada.
-
Gaunce must have been reading this.
-
Seems he pulled a Kole Lind after being sent back down with 3 g 1 a in his first game back in Utica.
-
Yes. But he needs to learn to go to the net better without the puck too. And watch Gadjovich without the puck. That will be part of Jake figuring it out. And yes I agree he is already one of my favourite players with his speed and strength and now his all around positional game.
-
True. But I think he means Jake is too perimeter and Gads beats a path straight to the net. Gads could use some of Jake's speed too though.
-
I think with the US second in our group and the Swedes first in theirs they are destined to meet second round if they both win first round.
-
So Pettersen on the ice with two d in 3 on 3. So he is playing center right? lol
-
yeah. We have never had a prospect pool anything close to this deep. Gaudette, Petterssen, Juolevi, Gadjovich, Lind, Demko all look like grade a prospects. And we have a host of other guys looking decent too. And note I didn't even add Dahlen to that group.
-
Do not let him buy a motorcycle.
-
Yup that is who he reminds me of too.

This kid is a keeper. I wonder with all his power play ability if he might be better served in Utica next year for a bit. Imagine a Ahl powerplay with Gads-Gaudette-Lind. The three are all powerplay machines two snipers that can pass and a garbage collector in front of the net. Clear out a few players at next years TDL and bring up the whole line and 2nd pp at the deadline if they are rocking it 5on5 and pp. He can play Nhl next year. But do you want to lose the powerplay confidence he has? And I like the idea of building these guys step by step in groups to build team chemistry and foster that winning atmosphere.
-
and not just three goals tonight. But all three Rockets goals.
-
Crap! That release is better than Boeser.
-
All true. But I think it is an improvement to be able to see a competent future d core built from developing what we currently have rather than depending on needing to find three or four more guys. This is looking like progress on the back end to me.
-
I think he eventually brings the other side of power forward to JV18. One skates like the wind, has shooting speed, hits and agitates. The other has net front presence, shooting accuracy, hits and intimidates. Together they balance off the Goldobin/Petterson type guys up front. While the bulk of the new core should be able to hold their own physically.

Isn't Pouliot supposed to be a pp qb? with three ahl years over .5 ppg and a whl season over 1 ppg. Tryamkin's size and mobility make him useful on both special teams and he is being very productive this year in khl. Brisebois and Chatfield are both good sized puck moving d who should eventually be decent at 5 on 5 and pk. I think Chatfield could eventually be useful on 2nd pp. Granted that assumes very advantageous development of all 4 and maybe we be lucky if two of those guys reach ceiling. Then again, we have other drafts coming to fill put that future D including what we all seem to think will be a d man in the first round this year which would give us the neccessary 7th for that group and we would also need an 8th the way we get injured. Although I hope we get a couple centers this draft too. (I see center as a development level week point right now).
-
And then there is Nashville that shows when a team drafts and develops defenceman well they can have an overflowing crop.
-
I just can't see why Tryamkin hasn't be proven right with his play this year. Playing big, getting in trouble, getting lots of points PIMs and minutes in the KHL. Exactly the player we need when Guddy is traded. Over the next couple years I hope to see Tryamkin, juolevi, Brisebois, Chatfield develop and be on the big club. Joining Pouliot and Tanev to be our top six. I am hopeful that they will be a dominant force from the back end having smarts, size and six guys who have smooth skating, puck moving and good passing. And a couple of which can shoot. Can that group develop well enough is the question.

But EP is younger and already better than Rodin who was SHL MVP at the peak of his career and still not good enough for the NHL. EP is just scratching the surface of what he will be at the peak of his career.

I can say I am puzzled by why Dube made the Canadian wjc team and Lind did not. Lind is clearly the better player for Kelowna to my eye, statistically etc. He seems to be comfortable on both wings and play a strong 200 foot game. Glad he took being sent back as motivation and definitely happy with the pick for the Canucks. He should really help Utica next year and the Canucks after that.
-
looking at his draft class and points so far. He is already 10th in scoring. He could eventually end up third in his draft year behind McJesus and Eichel, that assumes he can stay ahead of Barzal and eventually catch Marner and Aho. But the 23rd pick ending up top 10 or 5 or 3 in his draft year would be pretty amazing.
