  1. Florida would be nuts to trade Barkov, I didn't take that 'pipe dream' proposal as reality. Nor would I give the expanded package for McCann. But Guddy for McCann I would. Think we have Brisebois carrying Guddy's load in a couple years pair with Chatfield in a couple years anyway.
  2. You trade Guddy back to FLA I want McCann back.
  3. I thought Vaxjo had a champs league game in the morning.
  4. Besides, that is a long term problem. I see Gaudette as our lowest minutes center at the start of next year. Pettersson as a winger next year gradually transitioning to center or in Utica learning center and North American game (and Utica desperately needs a number one center) next year. And that is dependant on signing Gaudette which will probably have to include a promise of a Boeser type opportunity.
  5. Or Horvat or Gaudette end up with kesler/Sutter usage. Would it be so bad to have a shutdown line that can score?
  6. Its an early game. 11 am Pacific. But I assume that is the intention.
  7. The way green runs the team the 4th line (sutters normally) is the checking line and gets lots of minutes and the 3rd line rolls out with the least amount of minutes. But I don't think that line gets torn apart especially if you can make two dangerous lines and solid shutdown line to go with it. But I also want Vanek to light it up to maximize our deadline acquisitions.
  8. Or try Baer-bo-vanek Sedins-boeser Goldy Burm Virt Granny Gaunce Ericksson Bo is good with anyone. Baer and Vanek have a click and this keeps line one moving. Boeser gets lots of shots with the twins and keeps rolling. Twins get more space with everyone watching the flow. Goldy and Burm get space from Virts speed and possession. Granny gaunce and Ericksson can still check and be dangerous on counter attack. And yeah. Still left Gags in the press box.
  9. I'd add Nillson or Markstrom to that list. That is possible by promoting Demko to NHL and Garteig to AHL. And goalies seem to be the most valuable commodity this year with the injuries and struggles other teams are having this year.
  10. I think it also bears mentioning that Gaudette is younger than Sikura. Has trailed him in points in previous years but leads him this year. I think it also bears mentioning that Anton-Reese, who was given credit by most as the play driver with those two last year is in the ahl at 5 points in 11 gp. Was the larger and younger Gaudette the defensive conscience and actual play driver of that line last year while trailing those two in points? Is Gaudette going to be better than the older Sikura and Anton-Reese in the long run? He would have to be defined as better if he can jump to the NHL and be competitive next year wouldn't he? Interesting how cdc current expectations seem to be higher than his linemates seems to be.
  11. Both are on the rosters, yes.
  12. And learn to play center, learn to take faceoffs, learn canucks systems, build relationships with other prospects, get better at English, adjust to different ice, different rules, different food and different expectations.
  13. My first thought is Pavel Datsyuk. Did not play nhl in draft plus one or draft plus two. As I see Benning as using the Detroit model I can't think of a better example.
  14. Got to see Kole Lind live for the first time tonight. Kole and the Rockets were downed by Victoria 4 to 2 tonight. Kole was prominent all game. Settling up Nolan Foote for three glorious chances before the youngster finally managed to beat the Victoria goalie (outhouse). Kole was held to the one assist. Drew the penalty that netted the second Kelowna goal. Played on either of the first two lines during the game, first PP and on the PK. Had one draw on the PK and won it. And finished the game even in a losing cause. The kid is obviously the best forward on the team. He is the offensive play driver. Has great vision and seemed to thread passes at will. Has a good stick and disrupted a lot of opposition passes. Plays bigger than I expected. Gave better than he got, including an elbow the the head of the Victoria goalie, throwing a player to the ice, being involved in quite a bit of bodily contact and taking a cross check to the face after a whistle and not missing any time. Definitely has nhl size, speed, drive, smarts and talent. Will be fun watching this one develop.
  15. I am not sure pettersen next year is realistic. Gaudette coming in next year starting in a 4th line center role like Horvat did as a rookie and gradually working his way up in minutes and role makes sense to me. But Pettersen specifically I think goes to Utica with Dahlen, works on draws and they both work on systems and work their way up to first line with a big body on the other side. Then the year after move up to Vancouver together and play with Big Tuna on the other side creating them space. We will continue to get younger. But 2 to 3 players a year. With lots of depth and competition every year. What we saw this year is what they mean to do. Next year we will competition in goal even.
  16. Was looking at Emil's stats....interesting to see Emil also played for Timra and Vaxjo.
  17. Not so sure they both play in Vancouver next year. But they will certainly shore up the lack of center depth. We have good forward depth right now, but I am not sure we have more than 3 NHL centers. And I would certainly rather Gaudette could be called up rather than Megna or Chaput.
  18. I wasn't about to miss put on seeing Lind in person. Already got tickets to kelowna in Victoria November 4th. Looking forward to that game. Probably be a battle between division leaders.
  19. If he can make space like that game in and game out, he will be who everyone on that teams wants to play with. I cannot believe he only played 7 minutes. IMHO only Horvat was better last night.
  20. Small sample size or not.....he is going to blow by last year's 30 goals if he stays healthy. A trip to the world juniors might effect his gp though.
  21. I have a hard time buying that mcdavid and price's contracts make much difference to the Horvat situation. I have a much easier time thinking the 8 year 8 mill deal Nashville gave Ryan Johanson does. Maybe the Horvat domino falls quickly now.
  22. Remember goalies take a while to develop. Dipietro won't be ahl ready when demko is nhl ready. Will be our ahl goalie after Garteig. Nice potential with this kid. Really like the pick.
