[Signing] Penguins re-sign Richard Rakell
Kuzy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The thing is about Marino, he's been reported to be on the block anyway as he isn't favoured by the current Pens management group. He was 12th on the TSN trade bait list last I checked. So he's more than available. If I'm JR/Allvin I'm looking to trade Miller for Marino, unprotected 2023 1st, and maybe a guy like Joel Blomqvist (G)?? Vancouver was reported to have a lot of interest in him, I think Clark wanted him. Vancouver doesn't really have a gem of a goalie prospect unless you count Silovs. If that's not enough for some, I feel like Marino, Blomqvist, 2023 1st, 2023 2nd gets it done. -
New Petey looking pretty advanced for a 3rd round pick. Might just be me but stylistically reminding me a bit of OEL

[Rumour] J.T. Miller Trade/Contract Talks
Kuzy replied to Podzilla's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Florida needs to add big time. Weegar did not look good against Tampa. -
Way too much of a risk to be taking him top 15. He's a project, yes he has the tools but he's far from a sure thing. I see him going bottom of the 1st round or top of the 2nd, much like where most pundits have him ranked.
-
Honestly I don't see it. Anderson, Dadonov, Dvorak and Hoffman all pretty overpaid and overrated. Caufield had an up and down rookie season. PLD has character issues, and thats assuming MTL even trades for him. Suzuki is really the only surefire top line guy for them IMO.
-
Draft is coming up quick! Assuming we keep the #`15 here are the players I'd love to grab there: Kasper Lekkerimaki Yurov Miroshnichenko Kulich Mintyukov Bichsel Lambert feels iffy to me. Seems like an all tools no toolbox kind of guy.
-
One guy I'd be hyped for if he fell in the draft is Lekkerimaki... one of the best shots in the draft and he more than held his own in the SHL. No slouch defensively either. I think he'll be a great top 6 option in the NHL: https://thehockeywriters.com/jonathan-lekkerimaki-2022-nhl-draft-profile/

I appreciate that! Looking at their roster, there isn't really one roster player that sticks out to me as having a lot of trade value beyond everyone you mentioned already. Koivunen, Suzuki, and Gunler stick out to me as other prospects that would be worth taking a gamble.
-
For sure, I'm looking at him as more of a stopgap on D with potential to improve, he was 1st pair in Edmonton for awhile so who knows if he can't recoup some of that value. Buying low if you will. The rest of the package I mentioned is really 3 good young pieces. Morrow is a top prospect on his own, in a similar vein to a guy like Schneider from NYR.

Been thinking about this one for a while, Carolina seems to have a wealth of young talent and defence that we could definitely use. Plus, they’re a team that’s been on the cusp for a while and could use a talent like Miller to get them over the top. Didn’t include Necas in this deal because Carolina is reported to have been asking for a top 4 defenceman in return for him. To CAR: Miller (50% retained) To VAN Bear Morrow 2023 1st round pick (unprotected) 2022 2nd round pick What do you guys think? Bear slots in on the third pair, we have an extra top 9 forward in Kuzmenko now so it’s not like we’re down a forward, and it shores up our defence outlook with a top RHD prospect (kid is the real deal, has size and almost a PPG in the NCAA this year and is only 19 years old). Not to mention, a lottery ticket in a deep draft next year, and we get a 2nd this year to potentially snag someone like Lamoureux or Schaefer. Could also probably part with someone like Myers if need be since we’d have an excess of NHL capable defencemen at that point.

[Report] Canucks enhance player development department

Great to see how much emphasis they are now putting on drafting and development. Really liking how deep and diverse the management team is looking right now. Far cry from the Benning/Weisbrod days. -
Millers Value (Discussion/Proposals)
Kuzy replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Is everyone underrating Miller here? Guy just put up 99 points on a non playoff team. Let's see... Ben Chiarot was traded for a first this past deadline. You don't think Miller would be worth multiple times more than that, either this offseason or prior to the next deadline? I'd be underwhelmed with anything less than an A-prospect, 1st round pick, roster player, and potentially more draft picks on top of that. -
Yeah, Slaf just checks every box for me, I think he'll be good for a very long time. I get Nolan Patrick vibes a little from Wright and while I don't think he'll bust or anything, I just don't see that exciting offensive upside with him. Kaspar plays a style I really like - defensively responsible, drives the net, can make a hit, and does it all in a mens league while more than holding his own. I was a huge fan of Svechkov last draft for this exact reason. Kemell on the other hand is way too inconsistent for me, and I have questions about his skating. Definitely recommend watching more on Mintyukov and Bichsel especially the latter. I could see him being drafted way higher than his pre draft ranking a la Seider.

Taking a 2nd stab at my rankings as we move closer to the draft... let me know what you think @HighOnHockey. Rather than a mock draft, this list reflects more of who I think will be the best player down the road, similar the Craig Button's list. 1. Slafkovsky - I see too much Rantanen (and some Malkin) in his game to pass up. He's the complete package and has shown he can compete and even dominate against men on the big stage (Olympics). 2. Wright - like many have said, he'll be a solid player but there are concerns as to his offensive ceiling. I see him as an okay 1C or great 2C with leadership and defensive qualities, like how Tavares is now. 3. Nemec - Complete player, high hockey IQ, brings leadership, RD. I would be over to moon if the Canucks somehow ended up with a pick to land him. 4. Cooley - reminds me a bit of Marner, I don't think he'll top out as good as Marner but the skill, speed and IQ is there in spades. 5. Lekkerimaki - one of the best releases in the draft. Dominated his peers and played well in the SHL, plays a translatable game. Potential to put up big goal totals. 6. Kaspar - this guy is my sleeper pick this year. Looks close to NHL ready and could surprise the team that picks him in next year's training camp. 7. Savoie - I like his tenacity and board work for a smaller guy. See him more as a winger in the pros but he'll play. One of the best skaters in the draft. 8. Mintyukov - every time I watch this guy he climbs my list. Superb IQ and offensive ability. Tends to play too aggressively in the o-zone but that's teachable. 9. Gauthier - plays a playoff-style, physical game and has the tools to be a top 6 player. His potential I'd say is maybe Evander Kane without the personality issues. 10. Jiricek - simply hasn't played enough due to injury. Still looking like a safe pick in the top 10, doubtful he'll slide to 15. 11. Yurov 12. Korchinski 13. Miroshnichenko 14. Ohgren 15. Lambert 16. McGroarty 17. Nazar 18. Luneau 19. Bichsel 20. Trikozov 21. Mesar 22. Kemell 23. Pickering 24. Snuggerud 25. Mateychuk 26. Beck 27. Kulich 28. Howard 29. Casey 30. Ostlund 31. Lamoureux 32. Salomonsson Notable omissions: Geekie, Del Bel Belluz, Chesley, Hughes.

Ok I think you're missing the point, I meant it rhetorically.

I've actually been on here for several years (hover over my name), just don't usually bother getting caught up in discussions like these. Obviously by 98% I was generalizing, that was insinuated by the sentence I wrote before that.

[Report] Darnell Nurse suspended 1 game
Kuzy replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Even the Oilers fanbase is souring on him, and they have him locked up at 9.25 million for 7? more years -
Obviously a generalization. I'll fix it for you, being the vast majority of people on here have not watched an Abbotsford Canucks game in person. Better? One fact I'm keenly aware of is your ability to criticize everything you read on here.

Pretty thin looking forward group. A total of one guy who played consistent NHL minutes this season. Either way, congrats to Linus as it'll be good for him to get some reps playing with and against some elite level talent.
