  1. You can talk, discuss until your blue in the face, keep throwing crap at the wall hoping something sticks. Theres a dozen posters on here screaming like spoiled brats about coaching, management, contracts, players, etc. I don't think these guys would be happy with anything. I believe most of us can see where the team is heading and have the patience to see it through. There's NO guarantee that any changes you want to see will change much, and I admit no guarantee to won't, but sometimes patience and stability will get you further than blowing everything up when your butthurt. Thats my take and its just as valid as the whiners take. Maybe theres a change maybe not, all part of the ride.
  2. Sorry, forgot to quote Got the Babych. I guess my point is we can get all upset but truthfully I kind of expected a fallback this year. I think certain players who had success scoring last year were thinking it would be easy this year. If we're honest with ourselves, this is common to a lot of teams coming out of a rebuild. I hate seeing them lose but at the end of the day it really doesn't change much in my life. Every day is a new one lol, and I keep cheering for them.
  3. Man, don't play the dumb card! I asked YOU if you were expecting a cup this year. The prospect pool in the last couple of years has been the best that the Canucks have had in the 50 fracking years I've watched. You're right, watching it unfold is painful right now, but thats sports! Its played by people and most teams experience these types of setbacks. Suck it up Buttercup, it might get worse or better, all we can do watch (or piss and moan)! I'll watch because I won't pretend to know what the team should do. They have people for that.
  4. Green trying to get the team to be better defensively. #21 in to settle Horvat down ( he's been trying to hard to be an offensive force), Bailey and Hogs with Sutter gives you speed and maybe better forecheck. See how Bailey responds to getting in. Virt and Big Mac did not seem to be picking their spots, i.e. a little running around. Team needs to support the breakout and mid ice play better instead of solo runs into the Ozone where they do a one shot and, oops, the pucks gone the other way. Last year they supported the puck better, this year they all think they're McDavid.
  5. Well said IBatch! It seems there are quite a few rational posters starting to push back against those that think you can contend for the Cup after 4 yrs of rebuilding. Growing pains, people! I can see what Benning is doing, I hear Green talking about details, and I watch our young stars thinking offence and them wondering why the puck is in our net. Last year they played hard and the offence came easy, this year they're cheating for their offence and getting burnt. Same coach so I think its between the ears right now. Seen it many times over 50 years of watching hockey, sometimes a team takes the whole season to figure it out. Not sure how long this team will take. A lot will depend on Horvat showing what kind of captain he is. Presently I see him cheating also.
  6. Right on N4ZZY! That was the blueprint for OILERS Hockey. Thats why Green keeps harping about the "details".
  7. Difference is Nonis had some respect, Gillis none. But hey, you do you sunshine, keep hating and ranting cause, you know!
  8. I see Hughes is trying too hard to produce offence and it's costing the team in defence. They need to focus on the defensive side of the game and counterattack. I believe their offence will feed off them playing D first. He may never figure it out but he's fun to watch!
  9. I love these guys on here that have all the answers! I've said it before, they've had some success and are cheating for offence. When they start thinking D first the rest of their game should improve. Also about firing all management, I don't believe JB or TG would be out of a job long. These guys are respected in the NHL circles, just not by media or CDC. It's a rough year for the young un's, so pull up your big boy panties buttercups, there may be some pain as they figure it out. Changing coach or Manager this year will probably not improve the on ice product. But keep crying if you must!
  10. OK I think Green is a better coach. Will have a stellar NHL record, former NHL player, highly respected around the league ( just not, apparently, to some on CDC). Now I know you are the only NHL expert on this forum, but young fellows cheating for offense get scored on(a lot). Happens to all young cores learning to play the right way, always has, always will. It ain't coaching at this point. i would expect someone of your expertise to maybe understand that. Come on man, drop the hate and bias and watch the passes, they're trying to F'ing hard to create. A little success got in their heads, they'll figure it out. don't agree with some of your views, but I think you and I could have a great time over beers discussing the game. Chrees!
  11. OK, I'll bite. You can garantee that? How? What makes you think that? Easy to rant because they lost a few games, but you have no idea that change will actually heal what ails the team. I still see a team learning to compete the right way, something that takes time, and it seems, something a few on here don"t seem to get. Not just saying this to you, its for the few that think winning in the NHL is easy.
  12. Lots of squabbling and handwringing in here lol. Sounds like a few basement GM's and couch coaches could get us a cup in one season if only the other 30 teams would just co-operate. For what its worth, I see a team cheating on the offensive side and getting burnt. Thats not really coaching, thats execution. Those are the details Green is trying to get them play. Look at a lot of teams whose core is young and have had some success scoring, hey scoring's fun, defence cuts into scoring chances. Seems for every point the top six get, they give up 2 points. I think its called growing pains. I think some posters here are going though the same thing, growing pains lol.
  13. What do you mean? You expecting the cup this year? We have several prospects coming up, young guys ready to take ownership and some expiring vets. We finally have some assets to a actually sell if need be. The team is close, needs to mature a bit, Benning won't be making any big moves unless it's something we need. I think its some of the fanbase that needs to take a deep breath and just watch this unfold. You trolling about the prospect pool?
  14. Been a fan of the Canucks since 1970 and I have to say Benning is one of our biggest assets right now. I know a few will call me batsh%t crazy, but I don't care. This is the most confident I have been with a GM in this organization. Lots of folks thinking because he's been here for 7 yrs, his times up. I can see the next (new shiny thingy) GM selling off all our prospects for "Messiers" and having to relive the fracking 70=90's teams again. I'm too old to wait that long. Give the man a chance to build us something for Christ's sake. We have NEVER had a prospect pool like he has given us. I don't care if you agree or not, just use your frickin heads and think about it. If not Chia is available lol.
  15. I agree, for what it's worth lol. I also believe they are monitoring his hip and knee for signs of stiffness to ensure he has fully recovered, giving him a light workload.
  16. Sometimes reading this crap on here gives me a headache. How's this for the posters bit&*(ng about JB. You make up a team starting with 2 aged out stars, 5 or 6 NHL players and the rest of the roster made up of AHL/ fringe NHL players, and build a team to win the Cup in 4 to 6 years. Remember some of the players you want will be offered more than you want to pay by other teams wanting the same guy and drafting is a crapshoot. Put your reputations on the line. Ohh, and you have a large very fickle "fanbase" that thinks it knows more than you and wants you fired cause you didn't do want they thought was best and a media that runs with the negative. One poster above wants everyone fired, why? Does he think other rethreads from around the league will get us to the promised land faster? It's sports, a game played on ice not paper. If you fired JB and Green, who do you replace with? At least that would make a discussion. Throwing crap at the wall and whinging about everything doesn't make a good base for discussion. On TSN last night they showed the top 6 guys available for GM spots, Chia was #3
  17. A few folks on here demanding big changes because losses hurt their poor little egos. Watched the NHL since 1970 and seen this many times, a team has some success and starts cheating offensively. Petterson and Huges right now are trying too hard to generate instead of " playing the right way defensively" and letting the game come to them. Av's are a recent example. Thats on the players, not the coaches, as there is some of them not buying in. Might take half the season to get their heads straight, but I believe they will be a force again once they all pull to the same direction ( think Blues 2 yrs ago). All the "NHL experts and coaches" on this board, in my humble opinion, should relax and let it play out. If your whole life crashes or rises with a loss or win, maybe you need a life. I do not see a coach or GM, available as of now, that I would consider an upgrade. It's sports, people, played by infallible humans much like all of us.
  18. If Costmar makes the NHL, I think he'll be a Rousel type player.
  19. Fast Freddie is typical of a number of posters on this site. I have no doubt that they honestly are fans of the team, but seem to think that the team and players, if they don't exceed their expectations, aren't doing enough, i.e.: floating. Sometimes you have to realize the people in hockey are human, and as all humans tend to do, some days you excel and some days you stink. I for one am very happy with our direction, both on the management side and on the team building side, Could it be better? Ohh yeah. Could it be worse? Much so. I'd love to have gone thru life never making a mistake ( besides replying to CDC) as these guys seem to think is possible. We are trending in the right direction, will we get there? Who knows? If these guys have so much insight, maybe they should be appyling for work in the NHL. Sorry for the rant but I sure do get sick of listening to these guys pretend to know crap that they obviously don't. Happy New Year Everyone and enjoy the ride. As a side note, I've been waiting since 1970 for this team to do something.
  20. Perhaps, but I see a team playing with the same "pace", thinking that it's worked all year for them. Good playoff teams have learnt to dig deeper and play outside their comfort zone when the need arises. This team is still learning. They are going to have to keep digging down to win again. Then learn to do it consistently. I'm not worried, either they make the playoffs (hopefully) or they regroup next year.
  21. I'm sorry guys, but I'm kind of laughing at CDC (Canunks DayCare?). I love this team and am still excited for the future. I see a team learning that they need to find that second gear ( get out of their comfort zone). Miller is leading the charge. Gotta lose as a good team to learn how to win! Regardless, win or lose I find the sun still rises every morning, enjoy the ride!
  22. Gallant would fit right in here on CDC, LOL! I liked his teams but there must be something deeper that gets him fired. Green is getting better at his job as he goes, he played a hard-nosed game under some good coaches. I think he's still piecing together what works for this team and discarding what doesn't.
  23. It's great to have differing opinions. What I hate is that instead of having a little patients to see how everything actually works out, some beat their chest and scream their hatred over and over in EVERY thread. After reading the same crap in every thread one gets a little confused as to which thread they're in. Express your opinion, don't have to repeat it everywhere. By the way, I like this trade for our future.
  24. As Clint Eastwood once said " deserves got nothin to do with it". What makes you think we deserve anything? Van has a team that we are free to either cheer for or against. Management is paid the big bucks to ice what they think is the best team. As fans, we're just along for the ride. Me, win or lose, I try to enjoy the ride. What ever happens, happens. Sun still comes up in the morning.
