[Rumour] Puljujarvi to play in Finland until he is traded
Amebushi replied to The_Rocket's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
While I don’t disagree with wanting out of Edmonton, for a million or more a year I’ll move there this weekend. Kids with no other skills in life should get their priorities in order. -
[Rumour] Puljujarvi to play in Finland until he is traded

I am so sick of hearing these entitled brats. They have the talent to make huge money playing a game that millions of people love and they have to get greedy. I hate the leafs and am not exactly an Oilers fan(hard to hate a team that sucks every year as they are no threat) Watching Nylander sit last year and drive up RFA prices (and performing like garbage) and now Pool Party thinking there should be a bidding war for his services??? There is a structure for RFA, RFA with arbitration rights and full UFA for a reason. Edmonton has wasted a high draft pick on this kid, tried to develop him (ok I laughed while I wrote it too but the “effort” was still there) and now have the rights to sign him. I hope he rots in Finland and the GM’s here never watch him play again. I don’t want him on this team if he is free and plays for league minimum. I had to work hard and pay my dues to get anywhere in life and so should he. I’ll take Goldy over him any day. At least Goldy wants to play. If Puljujarvi wants to be in the NHL he should put on his big boy pants, sign a cheap one year deal with the oil and prove he can play. -

Toronto Vs Vancouver aka New vs old who is winning?
Amebushi replied to Arrow 1983's topic in Canucks Talk
I won’t bet you but I’ll agree completely. TO has an impressive forward group that can fill the net. Tavares is a stud and Mathews is well pretty good. Marner is the one I would want out of their forwards and Nylander is highly paid. In a seven game series my money is on the Nucks. They can skate, hit and score. Rough stuff and after the whistle play should be an advantage this season. TO is one dimensional and can’t change their play style when the whistles are put away. -
[PTO] Matt Read with Maple Leafs

Guaranteed cup...when’s the parade planning show in TSN start? -
The only name on the list that has a shot at being a true number one is Quinn. I voted for him because of this. The real question is who is going to be on the other side capable of keeping up with him, mentoring him, covering up his mistakes as he learns to play against the best and scare the $h!? out of anyone that thinks about pulling a Matheson on him? I’m thinking Myers has a chance but slowly allowing hope to creep back in for Tryamkin.

Where to begin: 1 - I will never put TO above Van in any category because ... I hate the leafs mere than I love the Canucks. Sounds weird but I’m not really as big a homer as some on here but I really don’t like the leafs. 2 - I don’t believe a team with no grit can win anything in the playoffs 3 - JB has added a couple good D men, two top six forwards and kept the contracts pretty good while TO has moved in circles. Both sides have a big RFA yet to sign but I think JB has positioned himself better to get it done. 4- Leafs Suck! -
This was a tough one for me. I went with OJ because he is the most likely to play in the bigs this year. I really like Woo though. I think long term he is going to surprise a lot of people. I got to see him play live in the Canada vs Russia series and was very impressed. The kid hits like a truck, skates well and has better hands than advertised. He may take another year or two to develop so he can play at the pro levels but when he gets there we will be very happy about it. Here is to hoping that this is the year OJ steps up and makes a difference

As promised, went with Demko. I think Podkolzin and Demko were neck and neck for second/third with everyone else a big step back. Juolevi, Woo, Hoglander and others show a lot of promise and hopefully become NHL players. At this time they appear to be bottom 4/bottom 6 players. We need these types of players and if they can exceed this we are really in for an exciting few years. Back on topic I think Demko has proven he can play at the NHL level and is no where near his ceiling yet ... having a solid goalie as your #3 prospect while EP is still on an ELC is a nice spot to be in.
-
I’m going to stick to it. I had them both as very close. I think Podz has the ability to be a game breaker (yes this could be shiny new toy syndrome) and used the above noted excuse as a tie breaker but I like to stick to my opinions even when questionable... just ask my wife she will agree with that one.

Did not know that...I’ll be sure to vote for him for three if he doesn’t win this round. Sounds like a pretty legit argument to me.

[Report] Eriksson “NOT” likely to be moved on
Amebushi replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
More than Messier? That’s some serious dislike. -
I put Podkolzin as I think Demko is already in the lineup. Nilsson was given away to make room for him and I think he has already earned it.

I want Ferland out there with Petey, even though I believe JT would produce better. Ferland is a little tougher, more aggressive on the forecheck and better known for standing up for team mates. I kinda like the idea of splitting up EP and Brock too. Put EP between Miller and Ferland and let Bo and Boeser run with either Bearcheese or Pearson and you have two pretty difficult lines to match up with. It is so nice to have actual depth to think about instead of wondering if Chaput or Megna should be in the top six...

(Poll) who is more valuable to the Canucks this year, Sutter or LE?
Amebushi replied to Pete M's topic in Canucks Talk
I don’t think I’d go that far. I’ll admit my opinion is rather strong and likely set. That doesn’t eliminate the fun of a little debate. How does LE bring more value to this years team than Sutter? I feel it’s like arguing about a $6 million dollar Pinto vs a $4.3 million dollar civic (with an oil leak) but still feel one is “more valuable” than the other. Would love to hear an opposing viewpoint. -
I see a player like Brock wanting a four year contract as a sign of confidence in himself. In four years the cap will climb due to increased revenue in the league. The Seattle expansion, the new TV deal etc. Right now he is a first line winger, maybe considered a star player but after injuries in two years there are question marks in his game that will temper contract talks. In four years if he stays healthy and puts the puck in the net he will be poised to get a big time pay day. Why take $7 million for seven years if you can take $6 million for four and then $10-12 million after that? Players who believe in themselves want shorter term “bridge” deals. Flash in the pan “contract year” players want to go straight to the long term.

(Poll) who is more valuable to the Canucks this year, Sutter or LE?
Amebushi replied to Pete M's topic in Canucks Talk
The negativity in here is thick. LE is not even close to playing up to his contract, spoke out in the media about his deployment and has shown little to no effort on the ice. Sutter has battled injuries and bad luck, had a less than great season for one year but is still a quality team mate, dependable (when not injured) third line defensive minded Center. Neither are playing to their contracts perceived value but Sutter is still a player with some value. LE is worth something between a bag of stale dog poop and a hot cheese enema. -
While I start by saying I voted for Petey, agree with everything you said except about Gretzky knowing talent. His coaching record isn’t exactly stellar and I’m too lazy to find it but believe he went on record saying his brother would be a better hockey player than him. Gretzky wouldn’t say sh!t if he had a mouthful of it.
-
I wasn’t expecting an actual response...I can’t argue this viewpoint. I tend to think that taking action is always better than not doing anything. I hadn’t considered what we would look like with Myers and Ferland but not Miller. Genuinely curious if this trade would happen knowing Ferland was going to sign. The price was not cheap to get Miller but time will tell.
-
I put down Pettersson as he is far and away the reason the Canucks are not dead last, however the argument for Bo is strong. Bo takes the hrs assignments so Petey can thrive. He took more face offs than anyone in the league and won most of them. It’s a symbiotic relationship in my opinion kind of like the Sedins were with Kesler in 2011. It takes a whole team to get it done but the MVP is Petey if you ask me.

To the people that hate this trade I have a question. Not a judgement, but an honest question. What other moves could JB have done to improve the team more or as much for fewer assets. JT is debatably a top line player but generally accepted as an NHL level top six. He is a big body, plays a solid 200 foot game and can play all three forward positions. He has demonstrated enough skill to fit in on a top line as well as grind it out on the third or fourth when needed. Additionally he is in the right age group for our core and locked into a reasonable contract. What other player could we have picked up for a conditional first and a third that would be better? I don’t believe that he could have been had a lot cheaper or that JB wouldn’t have tried to get him for less. What else is out there actually available at around that value that’s better than JT Miller?

Which new player will have the biggest impact next season?
Amebushi replied to 48MPHSlapShot's topic in Canucks Talk
This...right here. How would you like to be the opposing coach for game 1 round 1 with Bo, Miller, Pearson, Tryamkin and Myers in the ice. That leaves EP, Brock, Ferland and Quinn sitting on the bench for the ensuing power play...This isn’t our old Sedin team anymore. I just hope they stop coaching the drop pass and “turn the other cheek” attitude. Let the boys play. -

Amebushi replied to 48MPHSlapShot's topic in Canucks Talk
I put Hughes, but truthfully am a bit of a homer for that. The kid is a rookie and shouldn’t have to shoulder the responsibility of turning around the whole D in one year. I do think his growth and ability will be the most exciting to watch. I am also hoping that Ferland can mesh with EP and Brock so Miller can play with Bo. I just think having such a skilled player of Miller’s size with Bo is going to be a nightmare for other teams. Ferland can skate, hit and look out for EP while digging out pucks for Brock to hammer home. The real story this year is going to be if they can all mesh as a team. If that happens the Canucks are more than just a dark horse for the playoffs. These additions if healthy will not be a team you want to face in the first round. -
[Report] Columbus wants to offer sheet Marner
Amebushi replied to RowdyCanuck's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Do it! I hate seeing talent like Mariner in a laughs uniform. Loving the cap hell they are in and want to see it blow up. Canucks are set for free agents this year but I am going to pop some corn and watch the festivities if someone wants to offer up something fun.
