  1. Oh they are fans all right. The same ones that rioted before the end of game 7. Some people don’t care about anything, they just want to make themselves feel bigger by putting others down. Well F$<& them, I’m looking forward to watching Petey and Boeser score, Miller and Ferland run people over and Bo do it all. Hughes is the icing on the cake this year.
  2. OMG OMG OMG!! Wikipedia can tell the future - if Ferland plays for Van than the Eriksson trade to China must be real too? Right? Please be right.
  3. I have to say while I question not drafting any d men at the draft we do have a fairly well stocked cupboard of “maybes” along with a few genuine prospects. Going to cautiously say I trust his ability to gauge amateur talent and along with the scouting staff picked the BPA in every round. Realistically if we need D men and have a glut of quality forwards their should be some trades available. Our luck with college players and I drafted talent has actually been pretty high. Looking forward to a tougher Canucks team and hopefully a Utica team that isn’t completely depleted half way through the season.
  4. Then maybe I just came up with a decent proposal. A first should be enough to ditch Eriksson and that would free up more than enough $$ to sign Ferland.
  5. Is Ferland worth a first...NO! Is it worth a first to get rid of LE and sign Ferland? I’m gonna say no but it’s getting closer. If we had a reasonable contract agreed upon in principle with Ferland I’d consider a Louie with a good sweetener (2nd and a B prospect) for a bag of pucks and a taco.
  6. YES! We should definitely spend big $$ for the elusive RHD that we have been lacking and then transition him to a new position because this worked the Blackhawks once sort of...while we are at it let’s put Peterson on defence because he can make a great first pass.
  7. I wish...Brock does not have arbitration rights this year. His options are to make a deal or sit out like Nylander last year. It will happen,
  8. I don’t care if it’s just a rumour, this is making my day. Hoping it’s true that someone isn’t afraid to stick it to the leafs. I have never liked the old boys club and everyone playing nice. I think the best case scenario is the offer sheet is real and signed, TO figures out a way to match and ices a team with no depth or cap options for the foreseeable future.
  9. Is it weird that I’m more excited about Eriksson playing in China than Ferland in Vancouver?
  10. I don’t disagree. I do feel they are both gambles though. If JT pans out and fits in well we could have one if the best top lines in the NHL though. Big bets pay off huge when they win. Just ask the Raptors. I wouldn’t mind if he could pull off something like the Carolina Vegas trade to pull a Dman from a cap strapped team as well.
  11. I miss when this forum had good trolls, ones that put a little effort into it.
  12. Some people will really find any excuse to hate on Jim Benning. This was a cap dump for Vegas. Haula is a player with a decent track record who was injured most of last year and is on an expiring contract. JT Miller is a 26 year old consistent 50 point guy on a good contract with a few years left. Other teams would be competing to get him. Roy is a prospect (not going to get into arguing how good of one here) but the trade suited their needs. These two deals have little to nothing in common. You have to give to get...Carolina gambled cap space that Haula can stay healthy and contribute, Benning is gambling a somewhat protected first that JT can be better with EP and BB than he was on the fourth line in Tampa. Both sound like fair bets, just one has higher stakes.
  13. And if that 16th overall pick is a Steve Bernier bust? Every draft is the deepest since 2015/03. Fans can play the what if game forever. I didn’t even say this was a sure win, I said time will tell. I feel JT Miller is a solid pickup and makes our team better now. The price we have paid to get him is yet to be determined. The condition on the pick lessens the blow, but to answer your question I still think it’s worth it. If JT gets us to the playoffs and gives our young stars 5 games in the playoffs to learn how hard it is and shows management where we need need to fill in to really compete for the cup I will wager (please note, still admitting it’s a gamble) that it’s worth the 16th overall pick.
  14. Was it too much? Right now it’s hard to say. If JT sucks, all our D get hurt and we miss the playoffs for two more years then yes...if the team competes in 2021 and makes some noise in the playoffs led by an actual top line then I would say no. You have to give quality to get quality so I think we can agree we have given quality. Let’s see how it pans out in the end before deciding a winner of this trade.
  15. I do not know why I enjoyed this so much...but I did. Mods please replace the entire thread with this GIF. Thank you.
  16. I’m not sure exactly how to word this. JT Miller is a pretty damned good hockey player. He can play a 200 foot game, crash the net, has great hands and play making skills. He can score 20 ish goals a year consistently and is signed to a pretty reasonable contract. 50 point players don’t grow on trees and ones with reasonable contracts are not going to be attained for cheap. He may be a “cap dump” in Tampa but I guarantee there were other offers on the table. JB just made a bet on the Canuck future. Our first rounder in next year or 2021 will be worse than JT Miller. While I wouldn’t say it’s a certainty but it’s a bet that I’d be willing to take. Remember what the average #20-31 pick ends up as...not JT Miller. Would I have preferred a solid top 4 (top 2 better) D man...yes, but trades much like other activities I enjoy take two partners to make it happen. The Canucks got better, at a cost I think is affordable even if steep. Time will tell I suppose.
  17. Yep...this. Our team healthy would have made the playoffs in the tire fire Western Conference last year. Adding Hughes to the defence, maybe Juolevi and now Miller gives some real hope. For what it’s worth I’ve got a $100 bet with a leafs fan that the Canucks go further than the laughs next year...sounds like easy money to me.
  18. Can Edler play as well as last year? Can he and Tanev play all year? Does Bear Cheese recover 100% and fill a top six spot? Can Virtannen become the wrecking ball we all want while maintaining last years defencive growth? Lots of questions that lead up to a big ol maybe
  19. After the moves he signed off on in Edmonton I wouldn’t let the guy walk my dog. Too scared he would try to trade it to a tree for a squirrel.
  20. Freedom 40 plan? This is great as he is 33 and signed a 2 year deal that is very club friendly. The guy has battled through more adversity than most can imagine, been our best defender for quite a while and never got the support he should have in terms of players on the ice or from “fans” like you. This is a great signing, lots of upside, virtually bo risk. You won’t get a better dman this year without giving up assets, more term and more money. As to the nickname...I’m guessing you just started watching hockey recently. Edler just took one for the team and you say he doesn’t care. It’s no wonder UFA’s won’t come here without Albatross contracts.
  21. This is a team friendly deal. Edler is not a long term solution to anything on our back end but sure fills a gaping hole while QH and the rest of the kids develop. Hoping Alex can stay healthy and play like he did last year. 6 million is cheap for what we need right now from a UFA.
  22. Well written and thought out. I completely agree, how this off season is handled is going to say a lot about the next several years. These types of signings are what make or break teams. If nothing else it will be fun to watch unfold. Here is to hoping JB has something up his sleeve.
  23. The contract EK signed today is why I want to stay away from aging UFA’s. Sure I’d put 11.5 million on the books for a few years, give home every clause in the book too. That contract is going to be ugly when he is 35 and skating in one leg. Maybe the sharks will be able to hide it or buy it out but we all know the Canucks will never get cap leniency for anything. Great player, too rich for my blood, stay the course.
