Bu-bu-but PB, #Truculence!!! We need that stuff!!
-
And holy Batman, could Utica ever use a skilled center next year...
-
Naturally their bread and butter is Expelliarmus, rather than wasting energy on a stick lift. They also appear to be able to use Stupefy, given the stunned expressions on faces of defenders they beat. Wingardium Leviosa for the nasty saucer passes they toss, Accio for the way the puck seems to find them in tight spaces, and of course, they use Bombarda Maxima to blast snipes past helpless netminders. Duh.

Newer, but not better, right???

Looks like someone's... needs.... to take.... breaks... in between... using it... at speed... I kid Though admittedly, having the sloth from Zootopia as your profile pic would be stunningly appropriate!

What are you suggesting, PB? Surely such corruption isn't present in the NHL, of all places...?
-
Not too shabby, I like seeing that!
-
Does he see any time on special teams? Interesting that they move him around the lineup so much.

Hahahaha was busing home from work and it just slammed into my head. Got halfway through changing into casuals at home and was like "Wait! Gotta make that pun NOW NOW NOW"

Gosh Sid, I sure am happy you posted about these guys today. With all that was going on, understandable that you didn't give period by period updates, but it was still concerning. I actually thought you may have Ordoš'd on something you were Lakatoš-intolerant to and it made Jašek! Glad to hear you're still in good health

I actually think it will be much better to have Dahlen away from EP for the season. Jonathan will be playing on a Brynas team that is in the bottom half of the SHL standings, which to me suggests the opportunity for more playing time. Both Dahlen and EP are currently playing left wing, I believe, which is another issue. Anyway, I doubt our scouts/development staff/Benning want to try to force a Sedin situation on these guys. Clearly they think that having them develop as their own hockey players is much more important than building chemistry. If in the future they play together as Canucks, they'll have literally years to get used to each other. For now, each of them playing with established, experienced pros will almost definitely be more beneficial than playing with each other. As a side note, I doubt they'd play together in Vaxjo anyway, at least at even strength. Like I said, they're both playing the same wing, and I tend to think rookies are typically split up in the Euro leagues. Regardless, I think this is the best news we could hope to hear for Dahlen. Perhaps after half a season of adult hockey he'll be ready to come over to Utica next year, or maybe even for the Comets impending Calder Cup run

Do you think so for the end this this season, or start of next? Right now, I'd say our C depth is pretty set, and I'd much prefer him in Utica at the end of this season due to their horrible C lineup. For next, I'm optimistic that he nabs a bottom 6 C role with Henrik retiring. Horvat, Sutter, Gaudette, with one of Gagner/Granlund/FA taking the 2nd line offensive duties.

Shhhh it's a secret
-
Ohhhhhhh baby its a sign! The hockey gods are telling us the hockey Gaud will be in Utica this season!
-
I'd be slightly cautious with this one. Lots of posters were thinking that about this year's comets too, and so far, the vet rule plus weak centre depth is causing them major issues. If pettersson plays centre, which I hope he does, and if Gaudette is there as well, maybe were looking at depth of Chaput, Gaudette, pettersson, cassels, depending on signings or lack thereof. And yes, I think that right now Gaudette and his game will translate to the AHL much better than Elias', but that would be more of a 2A/2B, two-way vs more offensive line situation. But there's no telling what happens next year, I or if both those guys are in Utica. We have some killer prospects on the wings, and hopefully the C prospects are with the Comets to create two-thirds or full lines of legitimate prospects. All that said, I see Gaudette signing this year after his NCAA season is finished and stepping into the middle six quite smoothly, beside either some skilled wingers like rodin, Boucher, goldy, or Archibald/molino/carcone for a heavier line. He may be my favourite prospect. ^Talk about digressing, no?

I like both on the team - Gaunce-Sutter-Dorsett is my favoured fourth line, which puts either Jake or Brock (more likely) to the Comets, leaving Burmi and the remaining youngster rotating in and out of the lineup. Ie Gagner-Granlund-Jake or Granlund-Burmistrov-Gagner, with plenty of options for taking faceoffs

You make me happy. That is all.

I agree with this - but watching Tanev, particularly last game, he turns and hustles back to pick up dump-ins, he always has an incredibly active stick, and he just has a bit more presence on the ice. From watching London's playoff games last year, I recognize that Olli is excellent at using his stick to poke the puck away, and that he doesn't often need to overtly hustle since his skating is so smooth and his positioning is excellent. Just looks like he's gliding at times, which for me is the sign of a very gifted, smart hockey player, and is not a bad thing at all. The one thing missing in Olli's game during training camp, for me, was that urgency just after he makes a mistake. Stech always looks busy, and Tanev always looks calm, but they both usually have a little extra jump to get back into position. That said, it was training camp and he was playing with some technically inferior players. A year of maturation against competition who can make him pay for his mistakes should be very beneficial, as he's smart enough to adapt quickly.

Brilliant - I'll appreciate those updates very much. Hopefully this time next year we're talking about him contending for a top six role with the Comets... love this guy from what I've seen so far.

I was watching the buffalo-montreal game yesterday, and it was excellent hockey to watch - quick and decisive plays on both sides. One defenseman on each side impressed me with their explosive skating AND decision-making in particular - Beaulieu and Victor Mete. Now I'm thoroughly convinced Joulevi will be the superior defenseman compared to his Junior teammate Mete, but the word to describe how both of those guys played is urgency. They both skated and passed as though there were 30 seconds left and they were pusbing for an equalizer. I just think that if Joulevi can skate that way more often, he'll have more time and space to make a smart play. In particular, he'll draw much more attention to himself, which will open up space to pull off his favoured no-look cross-ice passes. Stecher plays this way, IMO, always in top gear, and as a fan, he always draws the eye. Can't help but think he draws the eye of defenders when joining the rush as well, and if Olli can adopt that aspect into his game, he'll be deadly.

Hey, if you want Jake down in Utica, I fully agree with you. But to criticize him for scoring 4 goals in 6 games because he didn't make amazing passes like his teammates? On the "Jake and gagner" drop pass goal, I believe he stole the puck, passed it up to Gagner, made a smart play to cut onto his preferred side, the left wing, picked up the puck with speed and used a quick release to score. That was an all-around great play by both guys - not sure how you can say otherwise
-
Because he's played 4 games in the past two years and physically looks like it. His IQ and skill was there, but a bit behind as well. He needs to play and get back up to game-speed decision making. Also, scoring goals is the sole purpose of a player in hockey. Jake's doing it. He's also stealing pucks from the other team and preventing them from scoring goals. We typically like players who do this too. Not much more I can say.
-
Hahahaha bless you for doing your best not to let anyone forget about him, what with the constant updates much appreciated as always!

I believe Gaudette and Sikura (9) played together most of last season with Zach Aston-Reese, yes? Looks like they're just ramping their game up together yet again. As said earlier, it's really great to have a few of our prospects being "the guy" on their team - Gaudette especially, but Lind as well for the Rockets, DiPietro (slightly different, but still), Pettersson as a top line guy with Vaxjo.
