[Rumour] Red Wings interested in Jacob Markstrom
Tracksuit replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Isn’t Detroit in the early stages of a rebuild? Nhls worst team of 2020 So go to another struggling bottom feeder / losing team with fillers and terrible d. And play out your career on building teams. meh hope if he leaves he goes to a team that might actually give him a chance at winning. Det. Will have to overpay to get a guy to want to come to them. 6mill to lose every night for 3-5 years or 5 mill and a chance to win for 2-4 years. I guess we’ll see what’s important. -
big mobile d man. Like tryamkin lol. ... good thing they didn’t make tryamkin an offer before he resigned.... most on here have said the d here are slow old soft And Small And it has been a issue before benning so did it really take him this long to see that. Yikes. Not sure going after more big names that’ll need protecting and eat a monster amount of cap is the best option right now. First up should be fixing the cap mess he’s made with over paid ufas. Let tanev Stecher leave marky too go with OJ Rafferty ect next years going to be a mess anyway with a wacky schedule,Then get through expansion . the young core will be Resigned a few more prospects will be ready and then fill the holes with no threat of expansion. I’d say take a flyer on next year and go with the cards we have be ready for post expansion and if we’re really lucky the COVID messed schedule will be behind them. nxt season ends possibly woo and tryamkin Can come in That changes the back end and it cost nothing but a tad of patience. last thing we need is Failures , another dud grubrason trade knee jerk to address the d size. Or a owner philosophy change to be bigger slower and tougher like after 2011. let’s see who the easily confused are yeAh sign more old damaged UFAs and trade for guys that will make protecting everyone important impossible.... so confusing.

Benn was a down grade from L schenn. hope we can get rid of him and his contract.

I’m excited to see him clean up his mess of bad contracts. With out signing new ones Which might be the only positive because even if he wanted to he won’t be able to. regardless of what happens LE should be told he will not be in a Canuck uniform next season.its Utica or elsewhere. Moving/ridding Benn sutter bear rousell Would be bonus points.

Would Markstrom sign a contract without a NTC?
Tracksuit replied to Makaramel MacKhiato's topic in Canucks Talk
I’d say there would be little chance he’d sign without a ntc. and the Nucks shouldn’t sign him if He must have protection. hes become a great goaltender but he’s 31 he basically has had two seasons in his career where he actually looks like a number 1. Don’t get me wrong i think he’s a big part if not the main reason we made the playoffs and didn’t finish dead last. But the coach of Vegas credited demko as being one of the reason they couldn’t score in the Dallas series demko has been groomed to be the future. So Demko is the goaltender we need to mature al long side the young core to be a complete team for a long time. with markstrom in two years we’ll be looking for a new net-minder while the rest of the team is at its peak and he’ll Still have protection. long term demko is the better choice. and cap issues coming down the pipe won’t be easier with a 30+ goaltender signed with protection for min of 4 years. -
Should only resign Him (JM) With no protection from trades expansion ect.(Which I’d doubt he’d sign) long term Him leaving might Be best. Not resigning JM opens the possibilities for others thou. Handcuffed with a few horrible contracts we won’t be able to keep the valuable players due to the Unmovable duds.

Future looks bright the next steps are important ones. ufas/Rafa bad contracts And the expansion draft losing Demko because we have to protect A Then 31 year old markstrom As an example. Some big tough decisions for the Owners and gm these next few months could set this team up for the next level or set us back. losing Valuable players due to dud contracts will be tough For JB to escape. Expansion protection and MNC/NTCs .. As for this group they Did everything they could from the net out, couldn’t ask any more from anyone. Pretty proud of this team. they should feel pretty good about themselves.

They win most of the faceoffs If they can’t gain the zone then dump in on the goaltender and charge him force a face off. To simple I guess better drop pass and then lose it at the blue 100 times a game keep doing the same ineffective thing over and over. Brown needs to be replaced before next seasons puck drop whenever that is.

These playoffs have been a Huge success they've shown what we need and what we don’t. It’s shown who shows up when it matters most and who doesn’t. markstroms a top goaltender in this league. Demko after not playing since March tossed into an elimination game and looks like an veteran all star. the top six Carrying the team. Bo showing why he’s the captain and a faceoff superstar. hughes already the teams #1 d and will only get better. Motte Showing he’s the best of the bottom six. The needs are still many but it’s a way clearer picture now that the team has been put to the test. Hope this group can put together two more strong games and put the league on notice. GCG
