  1. Relax Alf, this isn't about the "Hockey Standards" of whether or not Bo is a young player. Just about the Canucks record with him.
  2. Losing far more than losing? Not sure if that's a Freudian slip or just so much losing the last 2 weeks its taken over your vocabulary. For perspective on Bo's time as a Canuck: 198-195-52 is the Canucks record when Horvat plays. 2-4 in playoffs
  3. Horvat made the playoffs his rookie year and played 6 games against the Flames...Newbie indeed.
  4. In the 7 recent losses I mentioned that are likely to cost this team a playoff spot...? No
  5. That's a bit of a cop out...by all accounts EP has been a leader of his teams since he was 14 and you mentioned JT (8th year in the league) Miller.
  6. Yeah except leadership isn't something you should turn on/off just because you feel like it. Where was the leadership in recent games against Arizona, Toronto, Ottawa? Where was it a couple of weeks ago in games against Anaheim and Minnesota? Where was it a month ago in games against Calgary and Boston? Were all of those "just another game"?
  7. Except playing call-ups is not something the Canucks do. They like to call them up, just not play them. 7 call ups have played games for the Canucks this season totaling 35 games played. MacEwen and Graovac have played 24 of those 35 with little to no impact. No Utica player has had an impact (positive or negative) this season for the Canucks.
  8. What a difference a year makes...here are the Pacific standings this morning compared to March 9th, 2019. 2018-2019 San Jose 41-19-8 90pts Calgary 41-20-7 89pts Vegas 38-26-5 81pts Arizona 34-29-5 73pts Edmonton 30-31-7 67pts Vancouver 28-32-9 65pts Anaheim 27-33-9 63pts Los Angeles 24-36-8 56pts 2019-2020 Vegas 38-24-8 84pts +3pts Edmonton 37-24-8 82pts +15pts Calgary 36-27-7 79pts -10pts Vancouver 35-27-6 76pts +11pts Arizona 33-28-8 74pts +1pts Anaheim 28-32-9 65pts +2pts San Jose 29-35-5 63pts -27pts Los Angeles 27-35-6 60pts +4pts So the division isn't that much weaker this season with spots 4-8 having very similar #'s and the top 3 being a bit better last season. Will likely even out by the end of the season in terms of points/position.
  9. Will they though..? Go look at the top 8 scorers for the Canucks right now. All are having career years (yes I know QH is a rookie) and all have missed little to no games (yes I know BB has missed 11 and Gaudette was in the press box early on this season), Markstrom is having a Vezina calibre season and little to no injuries to the defense and the Canucks are still just a playoff bubble team that spends to the cap. If even a couple of those guys take a step back or miss any significant amount of time then that likely affects the entire season for the team.
  10. 14 games left...they've gone 5-8-1 in their last 14 and the final 14 are a tougher test...5-7-2 88pts and missing by 3pts is what I see transpiring...
  11. Would it though..? The Canucks finished with 81pts last season and the 2nd WC was Colorado at 90pts. The 2 WC positions this season are on pace for 92pts which would be an 11pt improvement over last season which equates to one win a month over a 6 month season. That's how fine a line it is...for last season if the Canucks had won one more game in 5 of the 6 months they would have made the playoffs and that's the pace they are now...one extra win a month. You can go to any month last season and pick out one game that the Canucks should have won but didn't...same with this season, go to any month and you can probably find a game the Canucks won that they shouldn't have. Thats the difference between a playoff team and a bottom 12 team...one win a month.
  12. Hockey standards? That's hilarious....please...point me to the age section of the big book of hockey standards.
  13. I still consider Bo, Jake, Brock, JT, Stecher young in addition to EP, Hughes, Gaudette and Demko. That's most of the top players (core) expected to take this team to the next level. "Young" is also a nod to the fact that 12 players have been on the team 2 seasons or less so the lack of chemistry goes hand in hand with a lack of consistency.
  14. Too streaky to make the playoffs? The Canucks are in the midst of their 5th losing streak of 3 games or more this season. They've had 3 winning streaks of 3 or more. The 14-3-1 record between Dec. 19 and Feb. 2 saved the Canucks season, 20-23-5 in the other 48 games (76pt pace). Just 2 additional losses during that run (12-5-1 is still an awesome run) then the Canucks would be tied with the Hawks in 12th. Consistency is usually an issue with young players/teams so these #'s aren't surprising but definitely something to keep an eye on.
  15. Av's had their 7 game winning streak ended at home by the Ducks in the dying seconds of OT last night. They will want to keep pace with the Blues at the top of the Central...would be a big, character win for the Canucks...Av's have an NHL best 23 road wins (23-9-2).
  16. I think its more the last 35 or so games actually. The thing with Gaudette is, he doesn't throw big hits, he doesn't kill penalties or shut down other teams top lines, doesn't win faceoffs etc. He's here to provide secondary/tertiary scoring and he did that the first 19 games (6g, 7a) but only 5g, 9a in the 37 games since. So when he's not scoring he really isn't doing much more which is why fans have started to turn on him, but he's still young and its early in his career so he will develop other tools and hone the ones he has...at least that's the hope of the fans.
  17. How blown away would the Canuck fan base have been if Travis Green said this after last nights game and recent losing skid..?
  18. Being the Canucks best right-handed defenceman unfortunately doesn't mean he's had an impact. I've watched every Canucks game this season and I can honestly say that I've seen Myers be a standout 4-5 games at most which is awful when you're the big UFA d-man signing from the previous off-season.
  19. This is laughable at best, been following him quite closely actually. He's in a group of 4-5 d-men with nearly identical ice-time and stats and all are below their top d-man Vasilevsky. For part of the season Tryamkin was the 2-3 and the other part he was the 3-4-5. My statement is accurate as can be, he's a 3-4 dman on a slightly above average KHL team.
  20. Has 6'8" Tyler Myers made any impact at all for the Canucks this season? The answer to both questions is no. You know this isn't the NBA right? See I can ask stupid questions too.
  21. The funniest (saddest?) part of Green saying this game and recent games being like playoff games is that the Canucks would have been swept given how they played the last 4 games.
  22. If he stays hot the last 16 games then he'll approach career #'s and some GM out there will offer $7m for 5-6 years. Not sure JB can go that high on AAV but someone like Bergevin or Guerin could easily. I think Montreal will go after him, maybe even add a 7th year.
