[GDT] Canes @ Nucks Dec 12, 2019 - 7pm Pacific - Live on SNET
GritGrinder replied to xereau's topic in Canucks Talk
Now here's a gameday note for you. In the history of the NHL these 2 teams (franchises) have the 3rd worst and 2nd worst regular season point percentages, just ahead of the Coyotes (Jets) franchise. The Canes do have one Cup and depending how this season goes the Coyotes could sneak ahead of both the Canes and Canucks in the not too distant future. I wonder how many Canuck fans know where the team is on this list. -

Ah yes, 2 childish meme's when you have absolutely no comeback. At least you're showing your lack of maturity, well played. -

Funny that I just post stats that clearly show the scoring is inconsistent and yet you think thats negative, thats on you. It took me less than 2 mins to get these stats and there isn't another NHL team close to those inconsistent scoring #'s. -

You must be one of the "flamers" I mentioned. Just pointing out that CDC jumps all over anyone who slightly infers something negative against the "dear leader" Canucks even though CDC is usually completely wrong, which is quite frequently actually. -

The funny thing is Blake Price tweeted out yesterday about semantics and how even though the Canucks were saying Ferland wasn't in "concussion protocol" that it must be his shoulder or something even though he still could be seeing the doctor for concussion related issues. Price was flamed for it by CDC and its looking like he was exactly right. -

Actually yes THEY (i'm pretty sure you are not a member of the Canucks) are consistently. Of the Canucks 104 goals this season 73 have come in 13 games, 5.6 goals a game. 31 goals in the other 18 games 1.72 goals a game. 70% of the goals this season scored in 13 games and 2 of those were losses. -
Given some of the opponents and the perceived improvement in talent the Canucks have had so far this year they should have a much better record through 31 games then they had last year, yet they are only slightly ahead of where they were last season. 2018-19 31gp 12-16-3 27pts -19 goal differential, had significant injuries throughout the lineup yet managed to beat teams like TB, Bos.(twice), Pit, Col., VGK. 2019-20 31gp 15-12-4 34pts +9 goal differential, no significant injuries to the top 10 scorers, d-men or goalies, 9 wins against teams currently in the bottom ten in the league. A 28 goal differential, easier opponents and the top players haven't missed a game should have translated to way more than 3 more wins. The question is, what happens if some of the top 10 scorers, d-men or goalies get injured or go into a slump?

[PGT] Edmonton Oilers at Vancouver Canucks | Dec. 01, 2019
GritGrinder replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
Nurse embellished but not flagrantly and he isn't exactly someone with a rep around the league as a diver or someone who plays "dirty". Gotta love the irony/timing of so much mention of diving after this game when they'll be honoring arguably the most prolific diver in Canuck (possibly NHL) history in the next game. -

You must not have checked before you posted this...the Canucks are 10th in the conference after last nights games and could drop a couple of more spots if they don't get some points against the Oilers this weekend. -
BRAGGING ABOUT OUR GUYS!!! Update Nov 24th
GritGrinder replied to Snapshot85's topic in Canucks Talk
Its not how they start...its how they finish. Just looking at the first 3rd of the season for Bo, EP and Brock compared to last year and how each finished. 2018-19 Bo first 26 games 11g 11a 22pts -4--last 26 games 8g 10a 18pts -4 Brock first 26 games 12g 11a 23pts +6--last 26 games 7g 11a 18pts -11 EP first 26 games 15g 15a 30pts +10--last 26 games 3g 13a 16pts -13 2019-20 Bo first 26 games 8g 12a 20pts -10 Brock first 26 games 10g 14a 24pts even EP first 26 games 11g 20a 31pts -2 Of note, all are nearly identical in pts year over year but have scored fewer goals and their +/- is lower even though the Canucks goal differential is considerably better after 26 games this year as opposed to last. All 3 seem to slow down the last 3rd of the season particularly EP so that will be something to keep an eye on as we reach February. The amazing starts for Miller and Hughes have kept the Canucks in the mix and they will need all 5 of these guys firing on all cylinders all season to stay there. -
Here is last seasons West standings at US Thanksgiving and the end of season. The 76% # is bang on, only 2 teams got back into it, the Blues obviously as they replaced Minnesota and Vegas replaced Anaheim who were only 2pts ahead of them at Thanksgiving. This years standings look very similar just with a couple of different teams, i'd say no more than 3 teams get in who aren't in now.
-
US Thanksgiving and that means that 76% of the teams currently in the playoffs will more than likely still be there at the end of the season. The West is really tightening up and the Canucks could very easily wake up Monday morning and find themselves tied with the Wild for 14th in the West slightly ahead of the Kings. The 2 games against the Oilers this weekend are important, they don't want to all of a sudden be chasing 5-6 teams for a wildcard.

So your answer to my question is Focht is the only centre prospect not named Madden and not currently an NHL player.

BRAGGING ABOUT OUR GUYS!!! Update Nov 24th

Orr, Bossy, Trottier, Gretzky, Kurri, Messier, Anderson, Coffey, Hawerchuk, Yzerman, Lemieux, Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin, McDavid...here are 15 players that had 100pt+ seasons before 22 or during the season they turned 22. There are probably a few more so its probably closer to 20 if I did a bit more digging. Found more...Savard, Ciccarelli, Pederson, Robitaille, Carson, Sakic, Turgeon, Brown, Roenick, Bure, Kariya, Staal, Jagr had 99pts at 21 and missed 2 games. A few others would be here too but most rookies were 20-21 in the 60's and 70's for example, Marcel Dionne had 121pts at age 23 in his 4th season but didn't even get drafted until he was 20. 27 and counting... -
Yeah OK...the bolded part you were "very strongly" disagreeing with was about centre prospects and neither Horvat, EP or Gaudette are prospects, they are Canucks. I would still say there are better quality and more D prospects than there are centre prospects. But maybe you view the word prospect differently.
-
He has a point...the 4 centres currently for the Comets are Roussell, Justin Taylor, Carter Camper and Wacey Hamilton and none of those guys are prospects. So if you strongly disagree then who are the Canucks top centre prospects not named Madden and not currently playing in the NHL?
