[PGT] Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks | Dec. 19, 2019
Kushman replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
As someone who is in support of a coaching change, let's keep the discussions about firing or not firing green in the threads that are dedicated to that. Let's just enjoy GDT threads for the actual game at hand. We should all be cheering for the team to win, no matter your views on the coaching staff. That being said Great win. Boys needed that for sure. Petey looked determined. Could of had a hatty in this game easily. Shot looking dangerous again. Virtanen keeps rolling. He's starting to get it... Getting better with every game, looks more engaged. Him gaudette work well together. Marky huge saves at critical moments. Ferland was missed in this one for sure. PP is still a struggle. Pp1 specifically, pp2 has actually looked more dangerous for a while now. Hopefully they can bring the same energy and determination into the next game.- 375 replies

This is a moment in the game where we could use some crowd support to get the canucks going. A Go Canucks Go that lasts longer than 5 seconds. -

Just give it a rest and enjoy the game. Its been made abundantly clear that there are those that would like to see green fired, others that love him and want to see him coach this team for years to come, and others who simply want him to coach out the rest of the season and make decisions on his future in the offseason. Everything else is just beating a dead horse at the moment, let's all just enjoy this rare canucks lead against against a solid Vegas team Go canucks go. -

I've never seen so much unearned loyalty towards a coach. Lets look at his "accomplishments" A championship in the whl with the Portland winterhawks... Woopty freaking doo... 4 seasons in the ahl with a 155w-110l record (only made the playoffs twice in his tenure) with finals appearance loss. The other playoff exp was a first round bounce. 3rd season into his gifted nhl head coaching position and hes got a whopping 82w - 91L record. Can someone explain how this is supposed to be impressive? How does this track record make him exempt from criticism and why are fans labeled as lunatics or accused of "team bashing" when they dare question the abilities of such an esteemed coach... Travis should of started as an assistant somewhere or at the very least had an assistant with nhl head coaching exp assigned to his coaching staff instead of another useless inexperienced plug that is Nolan Baumgartner -

Seriously, what kind of fantasy land do you live in? Your posts are always full of maximum absurdity to the point that I don't know if you're trolling or just completely delusional.

Do you know where i can find the dump&chase attempts averages by team? -

I couldn't agree more about schenn... He impressed with his simple but solid game in his short time here last season. He also provided grit and protection for our younger guys. I thought he earned a legit shot to make the team. I'd take him over benn, who I can say has been pretty underwhelming. -

Special teams have been absolute trash for a while now. Teams have figured us out and we have done nothing to adapt. I think it was St Louis that first exposed how bad our pp really is... Just pressure whomever has the puck and watch us stand around, bobble the puck, fail to string together any passes and then watch as we retrieve it from our own, breaking out with the epic drop pass! Every decent pk has been doing this same strategy to us every game and we have zero answers. The only time we score on the pp is off the rush/broken plays Meanwhile our pk does the exact opposite. We stand around in our box and apply zero pressure, allowing the opposition to setup however they'd like. We rely solely on blocking shots or our goalie making huge saves. It's beyond pathetic. 5on5 is dump and chase all game. No structure, no support on the breakouts. We give up possession so cheaply it's disgusting. Conclusion? Get rid of this ahl level coaching staff. Green, Baumgartner, and Newell Brown all need to go, they're inexperienced and it shows (brown has experience, but he hasn't been relevant as a pp coach in almost a decade) Green should of been brought up as an assistant coach before being handed a head position... And if management wanted him as head coach so badly, at least surround him with a proven veteran coaching staff to help him with the growing pains. What we have now is an absolute joke.- 573 replies

Gallagher takes an extra swipe at Markstrom, no one on on our team even looks his way. I hate that. No one on our team ever stands up for our goalies.

Bye bye green.

It looked offside to me live:/

Hate him or love him, jake has looked great on a line with Petey and Miller so far. Way more zone possession and pressure from that line than we've seen in weeks with boeser in his place.. Go jake go!

just curious about those that defend green as this great coach, why? What has he accomplished as a coach that brings confidence that hes the best available option to coach this team? Is it his relentless dump and chase strategy regardless of the players he has at his disposal? Is it the consistent coming out flat and playing games from behind that makes him so appealing? Or is it his post game pressers where he says the same thing about being happy with how we played and we just ran into a good team or good goalie, taking no responsibility for our lacklustre efforts? Genuinely curious why there seems to be this undeserved allegiance towards Green. Seems like a nice guy, but he's a rookie level coach surrounded by a rookie level staff (minus Ian Clarke whose a beauty)
