Whos is Jeremy Jacobs in relation to ratchand?
-
Its like you don't even watch marchand play. He's a rat bastard that takes liberties against teams players and not just against the canucks.
-
If hes cleared to play for Saturday, anyone else think it would be best if he took the game off? I just get a feeling that Rat Marchand would salivate at the opportunity to throw some sort of cheap shot to reinjure Petey

Back then technology isn't Like it is today. You see them checking almost every play on their tablet to see if it wss an offside or goalie interference or whatever the case may be... You think it's plausible that no one thought it worth while to check out what happened to EP with 15 minutes to go in the third? Even Crosby is checking out the play he gets cheap shotted and thats with less than 4 minutes left I don't buy it for a second. The reference you make, absolutely. No one could check the instant replay from their bench like they can today

you're right, they are two different circumstances. Calgary's player wasn't injured on the play, nor was Gudbranson intent as clear as Mathesons was when he hit EP. Yet, Hamonic still stood up for their young player because that's what teammates are supposed to do. Yes, he lost the fight, but that's not relevant, his actions to stand up to Gudbranson spoke louder than winning or losing that fight. It said "you are not gonna be able to take runs at our players without consequences". I'm sure Hamonic also gained a tremendous amount of respect in his own locker room and gave confidence to everyone in that room that everyone is willing to sacrifice for eachother. Contrast that with what happened with EP. He gets taken out by a dirty hit, can barely get up and leaves the game, the team does NOTHING. Even if you aren't going to challenge for a fight like Hamonic did, the message HAS to be that everyone goes out there and ups their intensity and the physicality. You go out there and you finish every check. You don't let them just get away with taking out your best player. They showed complete cowardice and its embarrassing. Go on youtube and search up any respectable team that has had their top player taken out by a dirty play (or even a clean hit for that matter) and watch how they respond. Times have changed, but if you actually watch cup winning teams like Pittsburgh, Boston, LA, Chicago, Washington, etc etc... watch what happens when someone takes a cheap shot or run at their players. They certainly don't just play on as if nothing ever happened and then say "oh we didn't know what happened until after the game..." Ya... he just slipped and fell on his own.

like mentioned by the previous posts... this idea that nobody saw nobody knew until after the game is a flat out lie and just damage control by management because the media and fans are calling for heads to fly. There were 15 minutes left in the third when EP was taken out. No one had a look at what happened in those 15 minutes? Your best player gets taken out and wobbles off the ice and out of the game and no one takes a look at what happened? YA RIGHT LOL Even if we were to believe this nonsense... it doesn't change the fact that they knew EP was hit hard enough to be taken out of the game, this should of elicited a response from the team to up their own physicality and at least start hitting and finishing their check on every shift of every play. Didn't have to be reckless retribution or a line brawl, but any self respecting team has to up their physicality when their best player gets taken out whether or not it's a clean or dirty play. Pure damage control, let's hope for the sake of our prospects that behind closed doors Green and the rest of the team got the real message.

McSorley and Semenko surely would have been looking at the scoreboard and thinking "this is a close one, we better not even breathe on the opposing team in case we risk a penalty and potentially losing these 2 points in October during our rebuild... Way to take one for the team Gretz!"

When Elias Petterson does push ups, he doesn't lift himself up, he pushes the Earth down. Elias Petterson can win a game of Connect Four in only three moves.

Barring any serious injury or trade, I think EP will go down as the greatest canuck of all time when all is said and done. As amazing as the Sedins were, they weren't this poised and this impressive when they came into the league, not to mention how heavily reliant their game was on one and other. We have never had a player that has this level of dangles, vision, and shot all in one ( not to mention his tenacious back checking). He is as close to a complete player you could ask for. When he matures into his body and is a full grown man, we will be hearing more "Pettersson!" chants through Rogers arena for years to come.

So pertinent that management felt the same way. hes been sent down and I imagine he's gonna continue to drop down the list of first to get called up. He doesn't offer the team anything of value. His "defensive" capabilities aren't even at an elite level. They're maybe slightly above average.

Never understood some of the fans obsession with Gaunce on these forums. Kid has size but doesn't use it. Zero offensive capabilities or creativity. He's not an NHL player. Glad this idea that he should be on the roster is gone. 12 pts in 114 NHL games is garbage, I don't want to hear about intangibles or how good he is defensively.
-
I think he's proving that he can play as a centre and is a fantastic playmaker. But if guys don't start burying on his passes, he will adapt and start scoring himself.. He is the Alien.
-
hes the first player the Canucks have had since Bure where I get out of my seat in anticipation what hes going to do whenever he gets the puck

He has been getting better and more comfortable with every game this preseason. He started off as looking immediately comfortable and by far our most dangerous player on the pp (he stepped in and is running it already) but looked to struggle to find time and space 5v5. The last couple games, he has continued to look dangerous on the pp, but has translated that into 5v5 play as well. He looks like he is thinking the game a couple steps ahead of everyone else on the ice. His passes are by far the most crisp and accurate on the team. He is NHL ready and expect him to start racking up more points once his teammates start burying some of the chances he's setting them up with and once he starts letting his shot off more. It's only preseason, but he's looked a lot better and has adapted a lot faster than I expected. Him and Horvat have been our two best players. If you havent seen it yet, he made a pass to himself by the boards centre ice, proceeded to deke the jockstrap off the guy trying to steal it from him, and then set up boeser with a perfect opportunity for a boeser wrister that was stopped. Incredible skill and creativity. The hype is real . He has also been very responsible in the defensive zone, despite his lack of size. He positions himself very well, gets interceptions and uses his stick to effectively defend. He looks like datsyuk out there.
-
He's an alien processing new data and adjusting by the second.
-
There were good and bad parts to his game tonight. Overall this preseason I've seen enough to stay hopeful that there is some quality potential in him, just will take time.. Can't rush it. The surgery was a little set back and some time in Utica will do him good. Our defense will certainly go through its cycle of injuries like it does every year. We will see more OJ throughout the season for sure.
-
I've been begging for ep and boeser to be on the same line. Itll become permanent eventually
-
I think I'm understanding why he's called "Alien". He's been sent here from a hockey universe and he gets better and better with every game as he reads and learns our primitive human ways, adjusting his own to unworldly levels. Swedish hockey robocop sent to raise us a cup one day.

Couple things about EP that stood out for me in today's game. His passes are so crisp and fast right onto the stick... his back and forth passing with Goldobin throughout the game was really fun to watch. Really liked a few plays in his own zone where he used his body to shield the puck and make the proper play. Was not a liability out there. Unlucky not to get a couple more assists... but this kid is for real. I can't wait to see more.

Currently there’s no legislation that allows for police to without a warrant or some justifiable cause to enter into people’s private residences so I think we have to tread carefully on that but if that is what the public wishes then I think it’s a step in the right direction for Trudeau to step forward and say we have to re-evaluate this.” Seems like that's exactly what's being talked about. I agree that there should be more done to fight gangs, but that doesn't include giving more power to big government and stripping peoples rights in the process. My parents grew up in a communist state where the government and police had all the power and the people had basically no rights, so seeing these kind of quotes immediately puts up red flags... they're steps towards a totalitarian type governance

I don't understand the obsession with trying to elevate our draft pick to the rank of undisputed #1 and in the process trying to devalue the other great players in this draft simply because the Canucks did not get a chance to draft them. Can we just be happy that we were able to draft an excellent player in Hughes? It will make zero difference in the future that he was drafted #7 or if he had been drafted #2 or #1... None of these players have even played an NHL game yet, but so many posters are eager to elevate Hughes because the Canucks drafted him, and devalue Dahlin because we missed out. Prior to the draft lottery, 99% of posters were praying we won the lottery so we could draft Dahlin, now all of a sudden since we got Hughes, its "Hughes will have a better career, Dahlin isn't that great, etc etc". They are two completely different players despite both of them playing the same position. Hughes may end up being a better offensive weapon, whereas Dahlin may end up being a better all around dman... time will only tell, but can we stop with all this should of could of ranking nonsense. Just be happy that we were able to snag Hughes when no one prior to the draft thought that he would even be available by the time our pick came about.
