[PGT] Vancouver Canucks at Boston Bruins | Feb. 04, 2020

Pretty sure Ferland could throw down with the best of them. He never was shy to drop the gloves. Even without him fighting, his ferocious hits would surely be welcome. I just don't think he'll be able to play that way anymore sadly. -

Thats the whole point... Green gets fired up after the game is over when it doesn't matter. There was zero fire from the team or from him when it actually mattered and it's becoming a reoccurring theme during his tenure. He expects the league and the refs will do the right thing and protect players... He's got to be the most naive coach in the league. It's a protect yourself league, always has been. The sooner he realizes that, the better off this team will be and the safer our young stars will be. -

Ferland was supposed to be the guy but sadly I dont think he's ever gonna live up to those expectations with his concussion history. So what are we left with? No one wants to step up and even throw a legal hit in response. Maybe Petey should take things in his own hands ala Bure and deliver a nasty elbow or break a stick over a player next time they do him dirty. You can see from his latest interview, he's not happy and rightfully so. Kid puts his whole heart into this team and whenever he takes a dirty shot (we're talking about dirty plays on him, not when he gets hit clean as that's part of the game) nobody seems to care. They all just look around dumbfounded or fall back on the tiresome excuse of "we didn't see what happened" despite there being ipads available for every play in the game This soft reputation will be the end of us. -
Someone has to let Stevenson know, this is not how we do things in vancouver. if he ever wants a sniff with the big team, he needs to focus on the play at hand and not get distracted by our guys getting taken out. A menacing glare would suffice. Appalling brutish behaviour. What are they doing in Utica? Teaching teammates to stick up for one and other is not the Vancouver way. Expect a stern talking to from management and maybe even a call from Travis Ghandi himself... Can't have that potential cancerous behaviour spreading into the Vancouver locker room.

I'm glad to see that more and more of the fanbase are getting fed up with this "turn the other cheek" philosophy that has tortured this team for years now. I remember last season after the Matheson hit on Petey, I along with many others were outraged with the teams lack of push back and lack of guts to do anything about it... Yet there were still many on here that defended the team and coaching staff and actually bought into their excuse that they "didn't see what happened". It seems there are fewer and fewer of those same fans jumping to the defense of the team and coaching staff today. When does the team and ownership say "enough is enough"? The idea that the the league and the refs will do the right thing and protect its players is an absolute joke. We see inconsistent reffing and inconsistent disciplinary decisions on a nightly basis. There comes a time where you have to take destiny into your own hands as a team. You have to protect yourselves and not expect others to do it for you. I liken it to my experience with bullying as an ESL kid... Did teachers or the school do anything that would stop kids from picking on me? Going to them put a bigger target on my back. What solved it was my parents signing me up for martial arts, teaching me to defend myself. I shut down any bullying and any future bullying relatively quickly and never worried about it again. I took my destiny into my own hands. I didn't depend on others to protect me. The team needs to do the same (obv not take martial arts lol) and learn to defend themselves by sticking up for eachother. All for one and one for all. The canucks reputation around the league is that you can play dirty and try and hurt their best players and in response there will be NOTHING. Not even in an uptick in clean physical play. Just a continuance of soft flag football style play. Take a penalty? No worries, you'll probably get a couple breakaways shorthanded while this team fails to get a shot on net. THIS HAS TO CHANGE if we hope to have any success in the playoffs. I dont want to hear excuses about us not having the players to fight.. We have more than enough guys with the size and grit to at the very least up the physicality and throw weight around when needed. Charlie mcavoy mugged beagle for running into rask.. We glare and cry post game when some puny punk takes out our franchise young centre. Pathetic. I dont know who is pushing this passive philosophy But i have a hard time believing aquallini or benning are okay with this lack of response. Travis Ghandi needs a reality check, or he can gtfo this team. /rant -

One of the poorer efforts this team has put up this season (besides markstrom who kept the score from getting out of hand) Boston set the tone early with the late hit on Petey. Team stood around with no pushback as seems to be per usual whenever any team takes it to us physically. Compare what Charlie fricken shrimp mcavoy did late in the game to beagle when he ran the goalie...We are softer than Charmin. If this team makes the playoffs, we are gonna get destroyed. No hits, no push back, we looked out of it the entire game. Refs are a joke Newell brown is an even bigger joke. Fire this bum. Any success our pp has had this season has been in spite of his atrocious "systems" -

An assist for John Shorthouse jinxing the team from the start of OT... "Canucks team has never lost to Carolina in extra time" "Demko is 7-7 in shootouts this year".. Carolina proceeds to score two and win. Just shut up. Talk about those stats after the game you plug- 351 replies

Just watched the game on pvr. How was miller's goal unassisted? Surely Tanev should of got an assist and virtanen tipped the rebound off of the post back to Miller? -
Bree will you give it a rest...its like every day in almost every thread all you post about is how jake isn't good on the first line and to put boeser back in. We get it. You like boeser. But jake for the last little stretch has been playing better than him on that line. I'm sure he'll get back in the top 6 soon but let's not rag on jake because you want boeser back with Petey and Miller. You point out that jake wasn't good in sj? The entire team stunk in the first two periods, not just jake. And when boeser was put back temporarily on the first line, one of his first plays was a BRUTAL turnover in the neutral zone that led to a dangerous scoring chance against.

The good: Markstrom was absolutely stellar and kept us in it when we were flat out getting dominated. Save of the year candidate as well, it's like he saw Thatcher the Snatcher's save last game and said "hold my drink". Come back again with a strong third Congrats to Hughes on his first road goal Warrior beagle blocking shots again and then with a huge insurance goal in the third Miller continuing Miller things... Great move benning Jakey boy showing huge confidence. Could of easily passed it over to myers who wanted it for a one timer, instead virt makes a dangle then uses the screen to put a perfect shot around the defender off the post and in. Beauty! Petey probably could of had 4 goals tonight, uncharacteristic of him to miss so many golden opportunities in one game. Expect him to score a hattrick in the near future just because he'll be so pissed. Empty net specialists strike again. Absolutely deadly. The bad: Let's not talk about the bad, we all saw it for the first 40 minutes. Let's just enjoy the come back win and the 1-0 start to the road trip. Good Job boys. On to the next! The ugly: the zebra brothers- 333 replies

Reminds me of last season when we got a double minor i think against Pittsburgh (rousell got the call?) and it was actually the other teams player that clipped his own teammate. Refs weren't so eager to review. -
