That would make an epic poster. Too bad about the oilers jersey however. -

Kinda wish John and John would focus more on strategies and systems as opposed to local sandwiches -
Did Tampa Provide Tactics To Dismantle Nucks Team D Structure

Fire green crew back in town? I ate crow during the 7 game winning streak, but my analysis of how the team has been playing hasn't changed. The winning streak, coupled with some stellar goaltending has greatly masked the teams lack of defense. (Defensive system, not players). Throughout the streak we've been giving up a ton of shots and have only got out of those games by the skin of marky and demko, we all knew it wasn't sustainable. I do think Green has been improving (using timeouts appropriately finally) but Nolan bumgardner has been a total disaster. Nothing has changed. It was a mistake hiring a rookie coach and bringing along a rookie assistant. Is there a chance Green stays and Nolan goes if the team keeps getting hemmed in their own zone? Do both go? Or will we continue to put up 3-5 goals a game and hope marky or demko can shut the door at an unbelievable rate? -
Olympics Deadline set (August) - Balls in Bettman’s court
Kushman replied to grandmaster's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Last Olympics was the first one I didn't even bother to watch (hockey that is). Seeing Willy D behind Canada's bench and a bunch of washed up players lose to Germany... No thx. Its once every 4 years, everyone wants to see the best of the best go at it. The players want it, the fans want it. Just frigging do it! 2010 was a dream, never had so much fun at a hockey game as I did with my family cheering for Canada. I can understand not wanting a yearly world cup as that can be disruptive.. But once every 4 years to represent your country AND market the game world wide?! -

I was one that was loudly critical about Green and the coaching staff. I still don't like Nolan baumgartner, our defense has looked awful for a long time, a lot of this winning streak has been on the back of Markstrom. I'm happy For Green and was even hoping he'd make the allstar team for the experience. As a fan we all have opinions, I don't understand those that want someone to fail for the sake of being right, that's just ego. It's a long season yet, but in the mean time... Philip, do you happen to have an extra plate of crow? -

What a game! An absolute disaster from a coaches perspective for sure, but for the fans this was easily one of the most entertaining rollercoaster of emotion games of the year! Miller absolute beauty of a player. Trade looks better with every game. Love how he always seems to be patient enough to make the better play as opposed to just wasting it into the corner or shooting a weak outside shot. Surprises me every game. Petey doing Petey things. He's been on an absolute tear lately. Good to see him find his shot again, his skating seems to have found another gear as well. Hughes... I have no words for this kid. He is an ahsolute stud. Amazing the skill and confidence this kid has at such a young age as a rookie!! ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY if he doesn't make the allstar team. Everyone better be voting for this beauty. Boeser i thought had one of his best games. Competed hard all night, good on the forecheck, especially on that gaudette goal. He's also getting his chances, just no finish. seems to have some heat on that shot again tho, lehner felt those for sure. Horvat great game. Was flying and creating all game. Another weird goal, but doesn't matter, he deserves a couple lucky bounces. And what a way to seal it. Sacrifices the body for the block and gets the empty netter. Great statement game from the captain. Jake continues his point streak, he's really starting to look better with every game. Using that size and speed to create. Rough game for gaudette to start ,but I'm glad to see Green kept trust in him and didn't bench him in the 3rd. Way to step up hockey gaud!- 426 replies

He's really worked on it. It was way more of a muffin last season when he had his short stint to end the season. This season it's a decent clapper, but more importantly he knows how to get his shots through, wrister or slap. Such a breathe of fresh air from some of the shin blasting we've become accustomed to for years now.

Hayton, what a punk. No respect. His actions, while wearing the C no less, are inexcusable. I dont wanna hear any excuses about the Russians celebrating too hard on the 6th goal... They should be celebrating, we're historically their biggest rival and they absolutely destroyed us. I didn't see Canada holding back when they ran up the score last year against a team (was it the Swiss or Denmark?)

His passing has definitely improved this season. There have been a couple grade A chances he's created that could of easily been big assists. Even his short time on the first line with Miller and Petey, i thought they had more possession and looked more dangerous than in a long time

When I first came to Canada, my family and I lived in Edmonton. Zero interest in hockey, never got into it. We moved to Vancouver a few years later in 1994, into one of the highrises up the street from the PNE. During the 1994 cup run, the entire place was going nuts. Everytime there was a canucks goal scored we could hear people just erupting from our building and from the one directly across from us. Fans would get out on their balconies to celebrate with flags and jerseys.. It was incredible to say the least. We decided to turn on a game to see what was going on and the rest is history...Fell in love with the team and the sport ever since.
