WCQF: (4) St. Louis Blues vs. (5) Vancouver Canucks
Battlemonger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
The Blues might be the champs, but the Avs and the Golden Knights are way scarier. If we beat the Blues, we will be more ready for the Avs or Knights. -

Minnesota was the perfect warm up team before we take out the champs. I think the Wild's big players are faster than the Blue's big players. But the Blues play such a well structured game. It will be a good series. Canucks in 6. -

I'd rather we play St Louis, so it's all good. We always seem to play great against them. -
I didn't get to see Orr play much; I was just a kid. But I remember one game when he always had the puck. He was like an extra man for every position on the ice. Just like Hughes.

I think Oli makes the team next year as the third left d starter or the 7th defenseman at the very least.

Hughes is an absolute gem. For a rookie to be the best defenseman in the entire league so far these playoffs is a spectacular feat. He just HAS to win the Calder. It would be an injustice if he didn't.

Petey has a .95 points per game and Kane had a .88 points per game in their first 2 years. I'd take Petey over Kane any day of the week and twice on Mondays to Saturdays.

A franchise player, no doubt about it.

I think Juolevi looked pretty good in the Winnipeg game. He has a great breakout pass and a pretty sneaky shot too. He will be a regular guy in the lineup soon; no doubt about it.

Our problem at Center beyond Pettersson and Horvat

Our center depth would be better if a certain foundational player didn't lose his spot to a rookie. -

Calder Trophy finalists unveiled
Battlemonger replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
I can see Hughes and Makar battling for Norris trophies for years to come. That being said, I think Hughes had a better rookie campaign and deserves the Calder. Being injured doesn't help Makar's cause, as Boeser knows.
