Is it 7 or 8 new roster players for the Canucks? With all the trades, FA signings and 2 new rookies on the roster it could be a while before they really gel. -
http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/7579/stats Nilsson since 2014 has played for 6 teams including his AHL and KHL stints. Probably a good example of messing up a goalies development but the Canucks have depth in goal now so they probably felt his erratic play/confidence had become a boat anchor to the team. Seems like a good guy but he needs a lot of starts to shake off his cobwebs and at 28 years old Ottawa is probably his last chance in the NHL.

Way back in the Canada Cup Tourney days Trevor Linden made the team and ended up on Gretzky's wing. When the play flowed back onto the D zone though Trevor would play the center's positioning and responsibilities. My guess is the plan for Petterssen is similar, line up on Sutter's wing but take the O zone center helm. That could complicate things but would play to both their strengths.

I wonder what the ufa price will be for Patrick Maroon Stats | Hockey-Reference.com We definitely shouldn't drain any assets at the tdl unless it's Gagne. A 2 or 3 year deal at Gagner's salary I could live with just to have a nuclear deterrent for the small skill players likely to make the roster in that time. Maroon's inflated stats from playing with Mcdavid are unlikely to fool most GMs but I could be wrong. Maroon-Petterssen-Virtanen ...
