I really encourage all of you to listen to the interview on Sportsnet 650 with the Brock's agent. Some really good inside to the whole negotiation and how the management works. Did anyone actually listen to the interview Jake gave after day 1? I think he missed his weighted, but he was right there...so maybe 0,5 pound out of the weight he was supposed to be..but he missed it...doesn't mean he didn't train hard... TG seems to be black/white ( things are black or white) things coach....so Jake missed it, took the punishment and reposibility and it's done... Also, I hate how reporters asked the same question in 10 different ways, trying to catch Jake with some more info...geeez, move on, nothing to see here... Jake will be fine, 15-20 goals predicted...

Some things in life are more important than chasing a black rubber on the ice... From JB perspective, I surely hope, they have a 1-3 year and 3-5 year plan for the cap ( Hughes/Pettersson)... I think they have an amount for which they are comformtable going short term and another that they can offer for a long term... I'm not worried that Brock doesn't sing, maybe he'll miss regular season opener, but he'll play in the first 5 games for sure... We have a deep team and players are fighting for spots, this is really good opportunity for Goldy/Baer/Jake to show if they have what it takes to play top 6 / 9.

Well, I have to say, that as a former player with back problems, pilates (&yoga) have a big impact on a healthy back. You would be amazed how $&!#ty it is to play with a bad back. It is actually surprising that he hasn't done any pilates nor yoga before. I say a bounce back year for Sutter, being healthy and hungry.

Listened to the interview again, what he says is, he is coming back to fight for the NHL spot - what that means, I have no idea. But I would say, that NHL camp a then they decide. However, my feeling is, that second departure to Europe wouldn't be seen too positively by Canucks.. Had a good summer, without any injuries and he has been imporving quickness and speed.

Good find. Google translation is pretty ok, however he didn't say he is going back to Utica nor TPS. From the way he says it, he is coming to camp and everything will be decided afterwards. However, really good for both Petrus and Canucks, that the relationship wasn't affected by last years departure. I'm curious how he'll perform in the camp.

Quickly couple points: Petey/Goldy - start of the year, Petey is fresh, league doesn't know him, games are not that intense as later in the year. Petey/Leivo - middle of the year, Petey had already some injuries, fatigue and grind is starting to have effect. Teams are adjusting to Petey. Not saying Leivo is better, however in order to compare one to one, you need to compare the situation and all other impacts. I honestly wish Goldy would find his game and be the best of himself.

Jake can't be Bertuzzi, Jake will be Jake. Show me a PF who could skate as a wind. Jake can't play a game that we think PF should play, standing at the front of net and battling there. He is quick, he can get first to the puck. When needed he goes to the net, tying goal vs Avs, check were Jake is. Last game, 1min to go, check were Jake is, at the front of net battling, getting crosschecked from Pionk I think and little push back after the game. Unfortunately, the PF we knew, can't play anymore effectively. If you can't keep up, you're slowly out of the game. Benning looked into the future and drafted a player that will be effective in future NHL and not in the past NHL, plus a player that this team will need.

My two cents to Goldobin. Finally had a chance to watch whole game in TV and although lot of things can't be seen in TV, this is what I saw. Goldy works hard, in defensive zone. He actually took EP40's defensive responsibilities many times in D-zone. Fighting for the puck in the corner, winning the battles. He can pass, create chances, he can actually carry the play by himself. However, sometimes he just tries too much. It wouldn't be bad to simplify the game and no to try the most difficult pass. He is involved, works hard, the mistakes are the ones that are expected from young creative forward, who just started to play regularly in NHL. Green knows how to push buttons on all the young guys. If Goldy works hard, I do not worry about him, as I don't worry about any of our young guys.

Let me add some words and maybe end this whole OJ story. I do believe that OJ was scratched during that time, however I don't think it was only because of his performance. Maybe he needed a break, maybe he had some flu, we'll never know. Only thing I called Rob out is that it wasn't posted anywhere, that OJ was sick. That's the only thing I'm questioning and I thing that's the only thing that should be questioned. We'll never know which elements went to the decision to scratch OJ. Usually it's not only one. Maybe he needed break after WJC and travel. Maybe he needed to watch games from press box. My personal subjective view is that all the parts had some impact. At the time he didn't play his best, he had a hard stretch behind him and was tired and needed some rest, even some small flu could be. I'm curios person, I do read/write Finnish very well, plus other language. Played the game myself professionally in Europe. Been Canuck fan since Bure era. Too all of people who are worried, sit back, buy popcorn and enjoy this time, as we are truly experiencing something truly awesome. Benning has build a future team that will be top 5 teams for long time. Be grateful that he has the guts, plan and he is executing the plan. Peace

As I wrote 10pages back, TPS is continuing to slump. Bad decision from veteran players, not playing hard enough. It is really hard for young/rookie player to play in this kind of environment. Every step that Olli takes on the ice is analyzed, measured or what ever. He is playing in Liiga, developing and that's the most important thing. He has Sami as a coach/mentor. As R.Dahlin26 wrote he was -2. 1st goal: Eric Perrin, veteran player throws a cross ice pass from own corner that gets picked up by SaiPa player and Olli tries to block shots. Only thing Olli could do is come up the ice little bit faster, however even that's debatable. 2nd goal: Olli is trying to pinch on blue line, however is rather undecided. Puck gets by him, but SaiPa player stays in own end. Another SaiPas players picks up the puck, goes by Henrik Tallinder and Tomi Kallio isn't fast enough on backcheck. Again, not Ollis goal, however he could have played the situation with more confidence. Overall, not a big mistakes, rather mistakes that are part of development. I think Olli will thrive in NA. Petrus Palmu was frustrated and was yelling at referee, who gave him 10min misconduct.

Come on guys, this is getting little bit out of hand. Welcome to CDC, right? This would be my view on the whole thing. It is disappointing that he was benched, however I'm not worried at all. I actually like it, that he was benched. Keeps him on his toes, send clear message to Olli "You didn't play your best in last games". I'm very curios how he response. Life and hockey isn't always the good, it's about how you respond to "bad" situations, adversity. The harder the road to NHL, the more the player acknowledges it. He'll be 20 in 4months. He still has lot of time to learn and he'll be scratched in future again. Being scratched and told what's wrong is normal for young players. Hell, Brock was scratched in first two games and is all-star MVP, Draisaitl was sent to minors at the start of 2015/2016, put 2 points in 6 games in AHL and was recalled and had 51 points in 72 games. Olli has done big strides this year, change from small to big ice surface, change from Junior to Pro level in every possible category. I don't think he needed to bust his ass last year in London, I think it was too easy for him. Now he needs to learn how to play in pro league. Liiga is closest to NHL from European leagues in style. Juolevi is on his own path, which is different from Heiskanen, Sergachev and other "D" prospects. What I care about is, where he'll be when Canucks need him and that's in 1-2 years from now. Been Canuck fan since Bure era, so over 25 years. The magic is coming, we just need to be patient...

Olli is out of the line-up in today's game against Ilves. I'll stand by my original info, that he is healthy scratch. TPS homepage doesn't really give much information on line-ups. Divided into three categories, in the line-up, injury, scratched. Olli is in the scratched category. If I find something more, I'll let you know.

I just checked the Liiga page, TPS home page and Jatkoaika.com page and I couldn't find anything about the flu. Would have been so much easier if Rob_Zepp just posted the link to the article. If he indeed does have flu, then nobody wrote about it before the game. Quick word on Heiskanen and Juolevi. Heiskanen is playing 2nd year in Liiga, where Olli is playing his first. It's a big difference, where first year your comfort level istn't that high. Juolevi is making strides and he'll be a big part of Canucks for years to come.

Man, he has HUGE reach. That was the first thing that came to my mind, when I saw that. I think they should give him 1-2 games this year to motivate him to work even harder and come to camp knowing how an actual NHL game feels like. Can't wait to see how Canucks will look like in 1-3 years.
