  1. Dammit Montreal had to choke and give the Kings a win. Let's hope the Wings can hold on vs. the Soilers. Why does our division have to be good???
  2. Cool beans makes sense. Completely missed it but I didn't realize at all it was your article XD . You write articles often?
  3. I find it interesting how both Burrows in 2011 and Horvat in 2020 aren't on here because honestly I'd rank both of them in the top 5 ahead of any other Canucks in 2020 because they both threw the team on their backs at points throughout their respective runs. It's kinda funny how 2020 is the franchise's fourth longest playoff run of all time spanning 3 playoff rounds yet it sorta came out of nowhere and I feel like it's a little underappreciated because of the whole Covid thing. There were so many standout performances that year from Pettersson, Hughes, and Miller, to Horvat, Demko, Markstrom, and Motte (like damn he had two unbelievable goals against St. Louis). Even Tanev scored the OT series clincher against the Wild (the craziest I've gone for a hockey moment since Burrows scoring on Boston in OT in 2011). I hope we can build on it with many more deep playoff runs, but the bubble was such a great experience.
  4. As much as I love the trade, this is just not true. I would have been livid if we had Toffoli and Edler-esqe players for ONLY one year and miss out on a guy like Cole Sillinger plus whatever magic Benning could work in next year's second round like he has the last few years who would be so much better for the health of the future of the squad. We'd have barely any assets after this year.
  5. It’s crazy how every single team in the metro is above .500. That might be the best division of all time. Also, can’t discount the Pacific division who is clearly the second best division in the NHL right now.
  6. Well he had 12+12=24 in 12 games last year in the WHL with a +19. This year he so far has 6+8=14 in 13 games this year with only a +4. Seems like a bit of regression, but I have no idea I don’t watch him play.
  7. Guys off to an incredible start...but guess who also has a 5th round pick in 2015, who also had the longest active point streak in the league to start this season at the 6 game mark? Yes, it's our angry little elf:
  8. I think both threads had 150 pages of whining, and then when they saw how good the trade was when the season started it all turned to positive posts. Actually, I believe there was a lot more discussion before the season started in this thread than the Miller thread, but the Miller thread got a ton more activity when he started putting up a point per game for us. It's kinda funny, we now get a younger point per game player, and a number 1 D while unloading a ton of dead cap for just a slightly higher price and so far the reaction to this trade has been a lot more tempered than the excitement from the Miller trade at this point. It might be because we got off to a decently hot start in 2019, while it's been a much slower start this time around, but it also might be because we're now more expecting that sort of thing because of the Miller trade
  9. The boys just started going in the Rangers game. They played a solid game besides special teams against Nashville. They played excellent besides PK against the Stars. Now, this game they're gonna go 3/4 on the PP and go a perfect 4/4 on the PK while dominating 5 on 5. Don't at me lol.
  10. Roussel didn't really PK...would you rather have Roussel and Beagle, or Garland. I know what I'd pick every time. We'll be able to find inexpensive fits on the PK eventually and hopefully Motte helps out when he gets back, he's a better PKer than any of the guys who left us.
  11. I kinda think the Canucks should give Hughes a chance on the PK. I might prefer that rather than having a weak left side clear. Plus he has shown his 5 v 5 defense is much better this year.
  12. Haha yah that shift I was laughing so hard. This guy literally dangled 4 guys, fell to the ice and kept control 3 times, and had the puck on his stick for like 20-30 seconds. Unfortunately, it just ended in a turnover but it was hilarious.
  13. I meant one move. Yah the Rick Dipietro contract was bad, but not as straight up crippling as Ottawa’s trade
  14. That Duchene trade has got to be the worst, most crippling trade of all time for any franchise in any sport. From a goal away from the SCF, to the punchline of jokes in one season.
  15. So is Garland. I’d probably much rather see Garland do that at this point than Hog as I believe his style is a bit of a better fit for a PK role.
  16. Regression elsewhere on the team is countering improvement by these two. If the regression reverts itself like hopefully we saw tonight, we're definitely a playoff team, and if everyone plays to their potential (unlikely to have them all do that at the same time), we're a division and cup contender.
  17. Maybe he deserves another try, anything is probably better than what we have now, however, in his career, stats wise and visual wise he's always been a terrible PKer, like bottom 10% of the league bad. It's the biggest anomaly because he is so good defensively 5 v 5, but it just doesn't transition to PK, probably because center positioning is a lot different at even strength.
  18. Yah, FO and PK he's been a disappointment and I don't know what to make of his play 5 v 5. He's sorta like the black hole of offense Sutter was. No one scores on him, but he never scores either, nothing really happens when he's on the ice which I guess is as advertised, but having talented linemates play with him like Garland and Pod seems like a waste. Hell, the goal they scored tonight was with Horvat at center. He'd be a perfect center for that fourth line that got absolutely destroyed and hemmed in tonight. However, who do we put at 3C? If we were able to get one more offensive faceoff specialist for 3C, and a 3rd pairing defensive LD, we'd be a fully complete lineup.
  19. Yah honestly I’d almost put that more on Demko. Didn’t have good body position on that shot. If he did even with the tip he probably makes the save.
