  1. I'm fairly high on these 3 as well. Cam Robinson got me on the McTavish train but now I worry he will be this years Barrett Hayton. I'm worried he might not fall to 9 now as many see him as the #2 center in the draft after Beniers. For that reason I started looking at Kent Johnson a lot more, there is certainly a lot more risk associated with that pick in terms of a boom or bust prospect but I think he would fit well with the high end skill we have already. Guenther is another one I don't really see falling to us but I would be doing a happy dance if he does. Honestly I have a list of probably 11 names that I like quite a bit and would be happy if we came away with them. Hoping we stay at 9 and go with whichever name falls to us. I'm highest on Clarke and Eklund but again I don't see them falling to us.
  2. Why so quiet on the Podkolzin front? Bit of a break before the playoffs starts?
  3. Not much chatter going on about this kid, having a great season. Regardless of whether he is mostly benefitting from playing with Madden he is still a great value pick in the 7th round.
  4. I wasn't fully sold on this guy before the tourney, didn't like the way he utilized his teammates and tried to do end to end rush's constantly. I came away from these past few weeks being extremely happy with his play, even being a year younger than a lot of the competition I thought he was strong on the puck and consistently won board battles. His passing is much better than I thought it was and I was impressed with his net front work on the power play. I'm excited to watch how he develops over the next year and I'm confident he will be a force in the Juniors next year... Never cheered for the Russians before in my life but next year it'll be hard not to cheer a little with Podkolzin as their captain.
  5. Lamoriello trying his best to make sure Canada doesn't win it. Would have loved to have Dobson back this year, he would be gunning for revenge after that shot went off his stick last year. Setting that aside it looks like it will be a really good one this year, only thing that makes me really nervous is Canada's goaltending. Hoping one of these guys steps up and surprises me though.
  6. 5 first rounders on their back end now, Sweden will be looking to continue their streak of round robin wins. Who is everyone picking to win this year?
  7. I agree with you guys, based on everything I kept hearing I expected him to dominate this tourney. Hoping to still see something in the next couple days, thinking that maybe its the jet lag... but with that hope its just making more excuses. Its easy to see a player with a very impressive toolbox, non stop motor, impressive hands. I'm just left questioning his hockey sense a bit, he tries to do way too much on his own and doesn't utilize his team mates enough. Besides a few really great flashes here and there I don't see him as an elite point producer in the NHL. With all that being said he is still only 18 and I think there is still a ton of room for him to grow. His tenacity and relentless pursuit will be a great addition to the Canucks when he makes the jump to North America. I may not be hyped about his production but he is exactly the type of player you want on your team during the playoffs.
  8. I went the year before in Sweden, games were split between Leksand and Mora. Games were not very highly attended but the few Swedish fans that came out were lots of fun. They had a cheering section where they jumped around and sang songs, one of the highlights was the Swedish cheering section leader took off his jersey and was wearing a "Fire McGuire" shirt underneath. Also the Toews shootout to beat the Americans... that was pretty good too
  9. I check that out when I was making my lineup, if those teams get hit with injuries and the young guys take a big step up then we might not get them. Otherwise I think the Yotes and Isles will send them to play big minutes on a big stage. Really hope it happens, the thought of Byram playing with Dobson looks just unreal
  10. Not sure if this is the right spot to post this in, I included a couple Canucks prospects on my list so I think it might count here. If a similar thread is already open please feel free to advise. The world Juniors are going to be hosted this year in Ostrava and Trinec in the Czech Republic. The event will be taking place between December 26, 2019 to January 5, 2020 Being a huge fan of this event I wanted to open it up for discussion, with this years draft looking to be extremely strong I'm excited to get a chance to see some of these kids on the big stage. To start it off I threw together a mock lineup for Team Canada, just a roster that I think would be fun to see play together. Jared McIsaac L Ty Smith L Noah Dobson R Jet Woo R Bowen Byram L Jared Bernard-Docker R Kevin Bahl L Extra D Alexis Lafreniere / Barrett Hayton / Joe Veleno Alex Newhook / Kirby Dach / Dylan Cozens Nolan Foote / Quinton Byfield / Serron Noel Liam Foudy / Ty Dellandrea / Benoit Olivier-Groulx Carson Focht Extra forward Olivier Rodrigue Zachary Emond
  11. Anyone know who to follow for gifs now? With Biech gone I don't know where to find highlights.
  12. What is the rule regarding the birthdate? I've heard some people say that players are eligible as long as they are 19 at the start of the Tournament, I've also heard that you have to be 19 throughout the whole thing. Either way Hoglander will miss out on eligibility in his draft+2 season by a few days. I remember being disappointed by that a couple years ago with Dahlen (they have the same birthday)
  13. This guy playing on the first line at the Summer showcase yesterday is the most under the radar Canucks prospect news. I know it was a blowout, but did anyone watch the game and see much out of Focht?
  14. Terrible nickname that struck me during a 14 hour drive... Vasili Bulldozin Its stuck in my head now and its what my brain call him, suits his style of play at least
  15. They are likely looking to trade up for Zegras, he's the one guy they brought in for a visit that they would have to trade up for. Hoping Detroit is looking to trade down for Podkolzin.
  16. Late to this party. Ranking these at pick 10, if we moved my list would as well. Dach, Cozens and Turcotte would also fall into the want category... I would do terrible things for us to draft Byram WANT Zegras Boldy Krebs OK WITH Newhook Seider Caufield DON'T WANT Broberg Broberg Broberg
  17. Boldy 4, Turcotte 4, Legare 2 Byram 5, Korczak 2 Sogaard 3
  18. I think the reason Edmonton didn't have a jersey ready is because they are a mess and couldn't pull their heads out of their butts. My understanding was that Bouchard dropped a bit due to concerns about his lateral skating, he is a good enough skater is straight lines but was able to be beat by skilled shifty players that force him to try to move east and west. I personally would have been extremely upset if we took Bouchard over Hughes last year. Going into this draft I'm really hoping we come away with Zegras or Boldy, either one of these guys would fit in perfectly in our top 6. With some much uncertainty in the top ten I hadn't put much thought into us getting a Dach or Cozens but it could very well play out that way as well. going to be a really long wait for this event next week!
  19. I'm late replying to this one so sorry if someone already pointed this out. But that Torey Krug guy just had a great playoffs and he is right around the same size as Q. Hughes.
  20. I think if a team has a lot of confidence in their ability to develop raw prospects then I think they would take him quite high, hoping that Detroit grabs him for that reason.
  21. He was drafted in the first round of the QMJHL draft. He committed to Boston College at a young age
  22. In a draft with this much parity you could be sitting a 10 with 4 players left on the board you really like. If you trade down 4 spots you are still guaranteed to get one of your guys and add an additional asset as well.
  23. I take Cozens, but I'm from northern Canada so i might be biased. Regardless the kid is supposed to be one of the safest picks in the draft, if we drafted him I would be more than happy to move Virtanen in a trade
  24. I will jump out of my seat if the Oilers take Broberg at 8. Best case scenario, Wings take Podkolzin, Oil take Broberg and we have the choice between Zegras and Boldy.
