  1. Really enjoying the Gudbranson paired with Edler games. One very iffy game, but overall I see both players enjoying their best hockey of the season. Gudbranson even rushed deep into the o-zone. Looked good on him. Hopefully it gets even better.
  2. Good to see. A much maligned 3rd round pick. Not too sure why another poster started a whole new topic when your post says it all. I like all three of those d men.
  3. Spot on. RB to Utica per CapFriendly https://www.capfriendly.com/transactions
  4. Got it. You were replying to a Dahlin post, so I was a tad confused. PS.......it's Dahlen.
  5. Sorry, but who the heck are we talking about ?
  6. This is an option that the Canucks don't shy away from. I think McEneny ( missed an entire OHL season ) and Sautner ( greatly improved after an AHL concussion issue ) both did the overage thing. I'm guessing that Carl Neill may have been encouraged to go that route too. Like most CDCers, I've only seen snippets of his play and the 'heavy foot' label that was attached to him seems accurate.
  7. As an eternally optimistic ( aka.....unrealistic ) Canuck fan, all our shiny new toys are future Calder Cup winners ( the rookie NHL version ). Whether it's Kristoffer Gunnarsson, Adam Gaudette or Jack Rathbone, I expect them all to enter the NHL HOF. Expectations have let us down a tad too often, sadly. Will pay special attention to all Harvard games next year. Jack Rathbone has Erik Karlsson written all over him (.....or not ). The McNally draft was hard to get excited about. Our first pick in the 4th round didn't get anyone trembling with hope and expectations. McNally did look like a great pick for a while ( I believe he was fairly high on the 'nuck wish list......late 1st round ? 2nd round ? ) but then everything went wobbly and fell off the tracks.
  8. Once again, the radio reception on the Sunshine Coast ( it's always sunny here. ) let me down and I ended up listening to the only clearly received station. AM650. Shah and Jang. They are now recycling the old Gudbranson tale re demanding big bucks and long term from Florida. I believe that various people have shot this down. His agent, Florida, Canucks and even the person who made the original claim. I'm going purely on memory here, but I believe everything that Shah and Jang said was garbage. Can these guys be believed, or is this Pratt 2.0 ?
  9. I don't think anyone in this thread is not saying what your post says. 'We' ( just me ? ) understand that he was drafted for non stat reasons. The posts are just pointing out the difficulty of even the most defensive of defencemen going 41 games without a point. Look at his older stat lines. Same thing. He had a more 'normal' stat line in his Swedish J20 year 2015/ 16, but going back to 2012, there are a lot of zeros. If he's at our next rookie camp, I'll be watching him as much as I can.
  10. Thank you. I really should have taken some language lessons from my Swedish grandfather.
  11. With perhaps Elias Pettersson being the exception, I think Tryamkin would put more bums in seats than any other Canuck property. Top 4/ bottom pairing, he was/ is a ton of fun to watch !
  12. Thanks @stonecoldstevebernier. Where do you find the TOI stats for SHL ? I like stats, but take most of them with a grain of salt. Too many variables. For me TOI has more meaning than most other stats. PS.......is there a site that gives AHL TOI ?
  13. You're right, don't know how far back this goes, but it does seem dated. On the other hand, it is a can of worms that might best be left unopened. Money and college kids could soon turn into being more about the money and less about education. I don't think that the colleges have much wiggle room. It's full amateur or full professional.
  14. No #21 for Owen Sound again. He truly is a Canuck.
  15. HF seems to have one brain that gets shared and no-one seems to know who's turn it is to use it. I assume ( won't read their crap ) that they are twisting the TSN quote from Markstrom. They ( TSN ) 'edited' the quote to give it a far more sinister feel. Their edited/ manipulated version was presented as a pure 'quote'. It was not.
  16. I guess that settles it. The winner is 'know nothing about hockey'.
  17. 11 wins/ 3 losses this year. A good kind of tire fire !
  18. KG's lifetime stats do not scream Erik Karlsson, but he has stayed up in the SHL all season and played most games. I wonder what his TOI is. Enough hockey people see beyond his stat lines to consider him to have an upside. I think that the analytical crowd wouldn't have much time for him.
  19. Nice to see RB get a decent amount of ice time. Thought he looked better than earlier in the season. It's almost TDL time, so the Conspiracy Theorist in me wonders if there is any 'showcasing' going on.
  20. Edler is great. 3rd round pick who has played 730 games in a 'nuck uniform not good enough ? Perhaps the past is not what you're talking about, so how about today ? Last night, more than 24mins ( including a short stretch injured ). Not good enough ? MDZ was 2nd in ice time, under 20mins.. The fact that management has not found a 20+ min d to surpass him for ice time is not his fault. Green plays him for a reason. He's not a #1 d, but necessity forces him into that role. Edler is great !
  21. Just uses Fake instead of Jake in multiple posts. Not funny. Disrespectful and juvenile would be a description I would use.
  22. You're spot on, but to be fair, you probably missed those hilarious 'Fake Virtanen' comments. I'm still laughing (......yes Sheldon, I am holding up my sarcasm sign ! )
  23. All CDCers agree. Negative posters, positive posters, Cpt Hindsight posters, it doesn't matter, everybody agrees. Bad signing. You have, however, left out the most relevant question. Was our owner involved in this signing ?
  24. In the Philip Holm thread, there is a fair amount of talk re Edler and his NTC. CapFriendly doesn't show any 'lists' or changing criteria from year to year. If I recall, his desire to stay in Vancouver had a big 'wife and kids' component to it. Happy wife, happy life. A couple of years later, I would assume that all these factors still apply. Maybe at the TDL next year he and his family will have to re-evaluate, but it would seem the he's with us for the next year plus. Being a Edler 'realist', that's fine by me.
