  1. There is  a MAJOR difference in quality from Hagen Daaz and other ice creams. My supermarket didn't have chocolate HG for some odd reason, and hasn't for months - disappointed with alternatives :(

      That difference you're noticing is often explained by the ingredients, or lack thereof, and their starting quality, for example:

       

      Haagen Dazs Vanilla

      Cream, concentrated skim milk, sugar, liquid egg yolk, vanilla extract

       

      Crappy Ice Cream Vanilla

      Milk, cream, sugar, egg custard base (sugar, egg yolks, water, natural flavour, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate [preservatives], annatto and turmeric extracts [colour]), corn syrup, nonfat milk, whey, pure vanilla extract, mono and diglycerides, guar gum, ground vanilla beans, locust bean gum, polysorbate 80, carrageenan, annato [colour].
