While I agree in theory, in practice it is almost impossible. I have tons of sick leave so I could do it. I would not lose pay. Unfortunately, there are tons of people who get no sick leave and they are paying high rent and mortgages in BC. They simply will not stay home for two weeks because they cannot afford to. They either stay home to get healthy and lose their apartment (or not feed their families) or they go to work knowing they may be sick. The only way to mitigate this would be for the Feds to pay those workers. The Feds don't have the billions it would take without taxing us even more. Crappy situation for sure. Edit: that is why I disagree it is selfish. It is much more complicated than that.

You just really got watch your symptoms and especially issues with breathing. In my opinion, most likely you will get better even if you did have corona. But if breathing gets challenging go to the hospital. Not a clinic as they simply are not equipped to deal with those types of situations.
-
It ends when it makes its way through most people. The vast majority are mild cases in which people build up immunity to it. Different verions of corona could come back in the future when the virus itself mutates just like we had SARS before or the Spanish Flu in 1918. If you have the flu you could still get corona. Most people have mild reactions to the flu and to corona. But those older people and people with compromised immunities would be in trouble.

Dr. Bonnie Henry just responded to a question about a coronavirus model brought up by another doctor. That model states there may be an infection rate of between 30% and 70%. That would match or beat the Spanich Flu at 33% and now with 8 billion people on earth there could be 2.4 billion to 5.6 billion infected people. IF the death rate did end up being 3% then we get anywhere from 72,000,000 to 168,000,000 dead worldwide if the model is anywhere close to accurate. That is crazy though...

I totally agree with your bolded and was not trying to say covid19 is the flu but I did use the wrong wording I suppose. My main point was mass social media is creating unnecessary fear and causing anxiety in our young people that is unneeded. There is a huge difference in being informed and prepared as opposed to be frightened into inaction or taking stupid actions like hoarding toilet paper.

OMG dude. Do you even do research before posting utterly stupid and wrong facts like you just did??? Population in 1918 = 1.8 billion Probable Spanish flu deaths = 17.4 million (but could have been higher) % of human population that died from spanish flu = 1% of human population https://ourworldindata.org/spanish-flu-largest-influenza-pandemic-in-history Go actually read facts before you post utter nonsense. Good god..... With your fake numbers 600 million people would have died when in reality it was 17 million (up to 50). HUGE difference. Check your numbers in future before posting and create further fear and confusion.

But would you agree that social media has really really ramped up their reporting on this virus compared to past years? I mean, more than 4,600 people have died from coronavirus. From Oct 1 2019 to Feb 29 2020 there were 20,000 to 52,000 deaths from the flu in the USA alone. 4600 WORLDWIDE DEATHS FROM CORONAVIRUS - Dec 2019 till now 20000-52000 FLU DEATHS JUST IN THE USA - Oct till now 250000-500000 FLU DEATHS EACH YEAR WORLDWIDE You are right. This is not the flu so far. So far, it has many less deaths. Yes, that could change. I know we all have to pay attention. But the fear mongering has hit a whole new level and that is not helping our young people.

Agree to disagree. The virus is here and we will have to go through it. My point is that social media blasting the info 24-7 does not help very much. And just to be real clear here, I did not say social media is killing people. Quit making up a narrative pal. When I was a teenager the anxiety rates for teenagers was just over 10%. Because of social media and hyper levels of constant scrutiny, teenage anxiety levels are now close to 50%. I don't think you comprehended my post at all.

I am middle aged and never went through anything so hyped up in my life. I blame the social media and the fact they are blasting this at the public 24-7 right now. Very fear inducing for most normal people. Mankind has gone through these types of pandemics many many times before. The vast majority of people were ok and will be again. But I am not sure how well those surviving people's psyches will be.

I guess it depends if they average the points per game played vs the current standings. If we are done for the year I would be fine if the Canucks are out of the playoffs. This is the first time I have typed this. My reasoning is that we then get our 1st round pick this year and hopefully we get some very un Canuck like luck and get a lottery pick. Even if we did not get a lottery pick, JB would pick up another nice piece. In my mind we can only get better next year so we could afford to not pick with a 1st in 2021.

Neither is corona virus airborne. The virus must get into your system through your eyes, nose or mouth. It cannot be transmitted by you simply breathing in air with a virus in it.

Please explain the bolded. How does cancelling the season stop covid19 from spreading? They could play in empty arenas and test players before they enter. Two teams along with their trainers etc would only be about 70 people. If you actually believe keeping the teams away from each is the solution, then you would also be saying even small groups of humans could not be near each other. That is not realistic and panders to the media fuelled fear mongering regarding this whole issue. When health officials tell people "just stay home from work if you don't feel well", that is again unrealistic. Are they actually so naive they would tell people with no sick day benefits to stay home even though those same people must work to pay that high rent?? Society can't just grind to a halt. Civilization has gotten through these types of things before and will again. Unfortunately social media has screwed society up big time imo. Anyway.....GCG!!! I hope there is a game tonight but buttman will cave like the NBA did.

Funny how some posters here declaring for months tryamkin would be in Vancouver an hour after his season ended. Whoops...actual sports reporters showed he cannot. Pretty funny but pretty sad haha.

I guess we Canuck fans can de stress. As has been said, NBA suspended season. So NHL will too. The billionaires are lemmings. Don't want to look bad. The NBA players looked pissed that coach shut it down. But that 'coach' obviously had been told by THOSE ON HIGH to do it. What an overreaction to an aggressive flu. Well I gotta go....going to buy $2345 worth of toilet paper...not sure why....
-
Whoa...big surprise. So many made up posts on here lying. Not sure what the narrative was for posters that had no knowledge about the situation making crap up Tryamkin could play this year. Those posters are the ones buying all the toilet paper for a virus and doesn't make you s&^%$#. They are "influencers" --> new word of 2020! Pathetic lol

"squire" barnes just dissing Tanev on the news saying Tanev is always injured after showing 230lb Lee hammer Tanev into the boards. "squire" would sit down and pee if he even stood beside 230lb Lee. Shut up "squire". Tanev is a warrior.
