Your HoMeRiSm is strong tonight young one!!

Oh...who did they give his spot to? I know the Canucks signed a 4th line centre but I don't think the Canucks signed any 3rd line UFA centres. Who got his spot?

JD Burke story about the Canucks trying to trade Hutton since last February but have no takers...or at least no one willing to trade what the Canucks want. Report: Canucks actively trying to trade struggling young defenseman Any takers? This kid would be a good fit on a lot of teams. In his latest article for The Athletic, Vancouver Canucks analyst J.D. Burke takes stock of the team’s offseason and ranks the players best served and worst served as a result of offseason changes. One player in desperate need of a change of scenery is defenseman BenHutton, argues Burke. In fact, Burke reports that the Canucks have tried, multiple times, to trade Hutton but have been unable to find any takers. From Burke: Back in January, Bruce Garrioch of The Ottawa Sun reported that the Canucks were listening to offers on Hutton, but again nothing came of the report. Now, in the dog days of the summer and with the Canucks blue line seemingly set for 2018-19, do things change for Hutton and the Canucks? The Canucks already have veterans Alex Edler, Chris Tanev, Michael Del Zotto and Erik Gudbranson in the lineup, with youngsters Troy Stecher, Derrick Pouliot and Olli Juolevi all vying for ice time, as well. Something’s got to give and Hutton may find himself on the outside looking in if the Canucks can’t find a new home for him this offseason. Hutton burst onto the scene for the Canucks during the 2015-16 season, earning a full time spot on the team after a surprisingly strong training camp and preseason. The rookie would go on to score 25 points in 75 games that season, but he has regressed significantly in the two seasons since. Last year Hutton managed just six assists in 61 games. Ouch. The good news is that Hutton is just 25 years old and his past history indicates that he's capable of putting up decent offensive numbers if put in the right situation. Unfortunately for him, it doesn't appear that the right situation will materialize in Vancouver anytime soon. Interesting.

One of those things is not like the others!!!
-
Yeah...fair enough. Even then though there would only be 1 player every 20 years. They would be rare. But the media and fans throw the term around alot. A helluva lot more than 1 guy for every 20 years.
-
Generational gets tossed around too much. By definition it means that 1 player every 40 years would be generational. I doubt Quin Hughes is generational but if he turned out that way...even better for the Canucks.
-
Man I hope this happens. Demko is going to be 23 years old in a few months. He is old enough and has enough experience in the AHL to move up hopefully.

Well written and well reasoned.

Yeah...I doubt it. But like you said, we shall see.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Kanukfanatic replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
At this point I would have zero interest in trading a bunch of pieces and picks on a rebuilding team to get Jack Hughes. We would take as many steps backwards as we would forward. You can't rebuild by doing that. JB has already said that numerous times...need to rebuild through drafting and developing. Plus we have already seen JB pick well at the number 5 & 7 spots. Trying to trade for #1 would be foolish imo. -
I just wish Anders Nilsson was good at his job. He sucked last year. Although our D certainly doesn't help much. I hope JB tries to trade this guy so that Demko can be the #2 but that doesn't look like it is going to happen.

Canucks Top Ten prospects (Updated for 2018-2019)
Kanukfanatic replied to 48MPHSlapShot's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Unless Hughes can win every possible award this coming year in the NCAA and WJC then he is not at Pettersons level...in my opinion. EP is a clear #1 for the Canucks. -
I am excited to watch him...and the whole new season for the Canucks. Not tons to be excited about on the back end but Olli is. Things have turned a corner for our Canucks and I don't care where they end up in the standings. Just want the rejuvenated hockey team and the new season to begin. And tomorrow I am booking a short trip to Arizona in October...just the right time to see the Coyotes play Buffalo...DAHLIN......woot. Looking forward to the season. Reminds me of going to my first ever WJC this last January in Buffalo. It was awesome. And the outdoor game was one of the best experiences of my old arse life. The crowd...the snow..the pre game partying outside...good god that was awesome!!!

Fair enough. So he may be big in a few years. But right now he is average weight. Height really means nothing for the most part...unless you really look at the composition. I am fine with him being average for now and will hope he actually does grow into a big body NHL wise.

A Johnny Knoxville movie.... Johnny is a schmillionaire....yes...that is what people paid to see!! Same people that elected TRUMP!!!
-
Why do you see Leipsic as guaranteed? He is small for a bottom six player (5'10" - 180 lbs - yes i know size isn't everything...the wife keeps reminding me ). Edit: Why do you feel he will be good enough for top six?
-
Why do so many people say Olli is a big body? Is he not only 200lbs and like 6'2"? That is not a big body in the NHL. That is a slightly above average body in the NHL. I just don't get this narrative. Now Virtanen and Horvat are both big bodies in the NHL at around 220 lbs. Am I missing something? Edit.....and yes...I do like Olli

Totally...and locally, Crotchturd will take the credit for the editorial genius he is when he runs with it!!!

Gotcha. Will be interesting to see what does shake out.

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Kanukfanatic replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
I want lots of draft picks for next years draft also. I just don't see all the trades you are hoping for actually happening. Sutter....who is going to take the toughest line match ups for the next couple of years to give Horvat the chance to play some O and Petterson to learn the NHL centre game? Beagle won't as he is a 4th line centre. He will take some tough match ups but we need Sutter imo...unless of course we can get a UFA to replace him next summer. I agree we need to trade D but I am not sure about both Tanev and Edler. Edler just had a great year and next summer he is UFA so maybe that makes sense...but he has a NTC. Tanev...we have talked about this ad nauseum.....one does need to be traded though so I agree. The rest won't get us much but a 2nd rounder would be nice. -
Schaller is a 4th liner. Sutter is a 3rd line checking centre. Ericksson isn't playing with a 4th liner imo. Roussel is a 3rd liner. Beagle is a 4th liner. IMO these are all messed up.

This is your professional opinion again? Like the ones below you made?? June 30 Elias Pettersson | C/RW Rollieo Del Fuego replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Prospects / In the System I don't think Hughes is going to let himself be sent back to college June 10 2018 NHL Entry Draft Rollieo Del Fuego replied to Zfetch's topic in Prospects / In the System I guess I owe you an apology then....I say some things that some people think are "crazy" and some of those people have pinned quotes of me up on there page to try to show me up....so far no-one has been able to do that. June 8 Elias Pettersson | C/RW Rollieo Del Fuego replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Prospects / In the System EP is better than Backstrom.....right now June 5 7th Overall: 2018 CDC Draft Consensus Rollieo Del Fuego replied to funkyfresh's topic in Prospects / In the System Hughes will likely be gone but I still like Dobson better.. I, for one, will pass on using your talent judging ability lol.

Thought maybe you were talking about Quinn and Jack Rathbone...but Rathbone is at Harvard. What Jack is gonna play with Quinn? I assume you know his brother will not be.
