2018 Canucks Summer Development Camp
Kanukfanatic replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Prospects / Farm Team
Vancouver is such a joke of an organization they put DiPietro's Canuck logo on backwards!! Now to be serious...it is great seeing our young guys all jacked up for development camp!! -
A young player has to be smart enough to understand that if they are wearing the number of one of the best players ever, they are going to look like a fool if they cannot perform. Wearing it "cuz he likes it" is a childish notion in a cut throat world. Just my opinion though.

The problem is we will probably lose another 400 man games to injury. If that happens we will need the depth. I don't want to see another AHLer spend tons of time in the big league.
-
Gotcha lol.
-
Not a chance. Boeser earned it.
-
I just watched some highlights of Dahlen that were in HF...yes...I showered to get the stench of HF suicidal tendencies off of me. My question is this...are there any posters here that know a lot about Dahlen that think he could actually play for the Canucks to start the season? If so, why? He is still young so lots of development time.
-
Assuming he shows well at camp, I hope he is put into the 3rd pairing so Green can begin developing him himself. JB needs to get a pick or two from a couple of our other D if at all possible imo.

Bo is old!! Already 23. Where do the years go??

Botch looks like crap. How does he afford to live in Vancouver on a 45k a year job? Good on him. It appears he skips the shaving implements and wardrobe expenses.

Deleted my response. Your post makes no sense.
-
No to the bolded. Dahlin was and is the top prospect hands down as every scout agreed.
-
Huh?? I am pretty sure he means Petterson on the half wall on the power play. He is not saying don't play him at centre. I think lol.
-
Ok...it is clear it is my boston hatred then.
-
Edler had a great year last year. Yeah...he isn't a top offensive D man but he played his arse off for the Canucks and I for one like Edler. FYI.
-
Ugh...Torey Krug. That player has always underwhelmed me. I know he put up 59 points this year but ugh. I hope Hughes does not end up underwhelming like Krug. Maybe my boston hatred is showing through here...not really sure!
-
I still hope they trade him and bring Demko up as backup. I have no idea if that has been considered by Benning and Green. Demko is 23 years old and proved himself in the AHL last season...is there any reason why he cannot be our backup this year?
-
Yeah...I mean...what has he done lately (in the last week)?? Nothing.
-
They also had Hughes at 20. Hmmm lol.

Very good points. And we have seen many very skilled NCAA players in the past few years complete a great year in the NCAA, then turn pro late in the year and play very good hockey in the NHL. I would not be opposed to Hughes following that route. However, if Jimbo, Quin, and his family / advisers decide he will turn pro now and give it a shot at getting in the Canucks line up then so be it. They would still have the opportunity to send him down to the AHL for seasoning if need be. Either way, next year should be exciting for us Kanukfanatics!!

I make decisions in my job using an evidence based approach. I have heard the bolded argument above before, that the AHL has more goons willing to hurt smaller players so they can stand out themselves. I may have even typed that out myself before. I assume some analytical hockey guy has looked into this theory. Does anyone know, or has anyone seen, any study or stats to prove if this theory is real?

Alf....you are literally on a computer at this moment. Google it...Orlov is 212. Sometimes your posts are bizarre lol. Edit: Hockey DB 212 Orlov Elite prospects 212 Orlov 2nd Edit: Alf...I am not meaning to attack you by any means. It is good to have an actual fan of the Canucks post positive things about our players (although you can go over board at times imo).
-
Orlov is 5'11 and 212 lbs. Not comparable at all with Hughes.
-
I kinda think Hughes is ready for the NHL now, however, I am employed in a non hockey type of position lol. So my opinion ain't worth much. If Hughes does go to college I would be extremely interested in how he does and I would totally look forward to watching him in the world juniors at Christmas. That would be awesome. I am sure JB, in conjunction with Hughes, will make the best decision.

I didn't see anything actually. That is why I find it funny. Just because a poster says something doesn't make it true. Like you saying "you saw it here first". Haha...no i didn't. Saw what? Anyway...I don't care. I won't respond again...I said my piece haha.
