The real reason why EP and QH haven't signed yet. They didn't want to do the bag skate at training camp. -

Looking at the some of the best years of Tyson Barrie, he was a 50+pt defenseman. But posters here say he can't play a lick of D. QH numbers are similar so far. Obviously QH is better than Barrie so far . But last year was brutal for QH as we saw him get exposed. Are we sure QH is not going to follow Barrie path progression? I'd be happy if QH signs $6M x 3yrs.

There's always more to it than meets the eye. In the Covid-19 thread, I mentioned my wife's co-worker. She was never written up before either in the years prior. Reason - no manager wanted the headache of dealing with the union and all the extra paperwork involved. That co-worker would routinely be late (verified by swipe in card), take extended lunch hour breaks (would come back from lunch with a new hairdo / color...that takes time). And leave early when management already left. She was finally reprimanded when she used company property for her own benefit. She still works there but she hasn't changed. Mind you, the OP friend may have a case of harrassment. Have the union do their job. It protected my wife's lazy ass co-worker.

My wife co-worker hasn't gotten the vaccine. The co-worker was sorta proud of not taking flu shots as well. Says the family doesn't believe in it. Then when it was mandated, she now claims to not get it for health reasons. Claims she has Asthma. Even though she has never had an inhaler. Nor was discussed she had Asthma in all the years they worked together. It's more likely people don't want to take it rather than having underlying medical issues (small % of the unvaccinated). I don't wish Covid-19 on any one. But don't expect sympathy from me when you could have easily prevented it.

BB next contract will be in the $7-8M range. Just need to look at what Landeskog signed for. $7M and it was a team friendly deal too. So thinking $7.5M x 8yrs would be fair for BB. Then I can wear my BB Jersey for the next 9 years. -

No you are correct. BB is grandfathered in. And his QO is $7.5M. https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2020/07/nhl-to-change-qualifying-offer-rules.html Google - 2020 NHL CBA extension Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). It provides a downloadable content of the MOU. Item 68 is Qualifying Offers. For SPCs signed after the date of this agreement, if the minimum Paragraph 1 NHL Salary portion of a Player’s Qualifying Offer would otherwise be greater than 120% of the Averaged Amount of the SPC, the minimum Paragraph 1 NHL Salary portion of the Qualifying Offer will instead be 120% of the Averaged Amount. So after the MOU was signed, contracts are subject to the new QO rules. Which also means contracts signed before the MOU is subject to the old QO rules. -

NHL, NHLPA announce COVID protocols for 2021-22 season
BPA replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
This is the tidbit I got from the link... It’s believed at least one Canuck remains unvaccinated — the team wouldn’t answer on the record on Wednesday about whether their whole roster are vaccinated, citing medical privacy — and if that continues to be the case, the team would accrue a little more cap space over the course of the season. Every day a player is suspended without pay would also mean their daily cap hit isn’t charged to the team’s overall salary cap budget. -
[Rumour] Senators Brady Tkachuk offer 64 m 8 year contract.
BPA replied to aznmonk's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Stecher was a bland D man that is a borderline NHLer (6th/7th/8th D). He hustled (bless his heart) and battled. Was OK defensively but very little offensively. He struggled against larger forwards on the boards. He can't clear the net. Not on the PP. Don't remember if he was on the PK. He was a cap casualty cuz his QO was something like $2.35M. In which case, he's overpaid for what he can provide. Canucks parted ways and he found the Red Wings ($1.7M x 2yrs). It was just time for Canucks to improve where they can. -

If both sits out this year, as a consolation, we'd get a shot at Shane Wright next draft. -

QH is RFA 10.2c. Not eligible for offersheet. JB did the same with Boeser. Burn that first year by playing only a handful of games. -

Once Tkachuk signs for $8M, watch Ottawa offersheet EP $10M. -

EP $9M x 8yr QH $8M x 8yr Run a 21 man roster to be cap compliant. -
I keep looking at Capfriendly and think Canucks might need to make a bit more space. The trading pieces that make sense would be Miller and Myers. I would try trading Myers (has 10 team NTC) first before Miller. But Canucks would be left with... OEL Poolman Hughes Hamonic OJ Schenn Not bad but not great. However, it would be $6M available cap space.
