  1. I was looking at the available UFA left and saw Saad still hadn't signed yet. Would have loved it if we could have gotten him for $4M. It would have been a tight squeeze to fit him in. Also depends on getting EP and QH on bridge contracts. Maybe run a 21-22 roster instead of 23. Could really mix and match the forward lines. And bump Motte to 4th. Oh well.
  2. I actually read the whole post. Lol. Keep up the good fight. I get fans are emotionally invested in the team and at the end of the day, we all want them to succeed and hoist the Stanley Cup. Some pretend to know more than others but the truth of the matter is we are all armchair GMs. JB has the real GM job. Not entirely a JB supporter nor am I a hater. Some trades i like. Some trades I don't. But I always hope for the best. Cuz the proof is in the pudding (or in this case...on the ice). Go Canucks Go!!!
  3. It's a race to the bottom. Lol. With supposed franchise center Shane Wright next year, it's hard to pass that up. And then the next year are 2 supposed generational talents. So no real desire to improve a bottom feeding team just yet.
  4. Would be nice if he and other RHD prospects make the jump to the NHL. We need to start thinking of replacing Hamonic and Schenn in a couple of years.
  5. Maybe precursor to another deal? Like let's do this trade and if I need to dump a player, you'll take it with a reasonable price tag.
  6. That got changed in 2019-2020 season. Under the new rules, if that final year’s salary is so large that it is more than 120% of the AAV, the AAV is used instead of the salary to determine the qualifying offer. So in your scenario, the QO would be $8.4M
  7. Nice. Hope he can develop his game in Abby. Then join the big club like Bieksa.
  8. Yes it includes Ferlands cap hit. Once Canucks reaches the max cap, then Canucks can use the LTIR money .
  9. Looking at his past few years, OEL is still a 40pt D man. Hopefully this means we can have 2 potent PP units. His point totals will probably drop as I suspect QH will be on PP1. Like QH, he needs to be paired up with a more defensive D man to bring out the best of his ability while covering for his shortcomings.
  10. @Patel Bure There's something wrong with your proposal. What if those free agents sign elsewhere? Then what? You then basically traded QH and Meyers for #1rd pick, Graves and cap space.
  11. Depending on what our RFAs sign for...but maybe there is some money to sign Saad for cheap ($3-4M per year). He had a down year and it's a flat cap. Hogz EP Boeser Pearson Bo Garland Saad Miller Podz Motte Sutter Dickinson Highmore MacEwen OEL Meyers Hughes Hamonic OJ Poolman Rathbone Demko Halak
  12. Capfriendly has it around $14M. But that includes some depth signing that I assume will go to Abbotsford. It should really be about $17-$18M. That's to get EP, QH, Dickinson, and OJ signed. Also remember that we have $3.5M in Ferland LTIR money.
  13. We will have to wait and see. OEL played on a crap AZ team. Poolman played above his targeted minutes. I think they will do well in certain roles that they will now have with the Canucks. But that's just my opinion/hope. *fingers crossed*
  14. Well AVs got their #1G at a hefty price. Funny thing is that Kuemper is UFA next season. Wonder if Sakic will have learned his lesson.
  15. Nice strategy JB. Get him playing in the AHL learning the Canucks system. Then if he looks NHL ready, bring him up for a few games and burn that first year. Gets him to group 10.2(c) RFA status so he can't be offersheeted.
  16. Isn't that why the Canucks brought in Shaw? To fix the defensive system? Hopefully it's to be a bit more aggressive standing up at the blueline instead of letting them waltz in for a shot.
  17. I think we can. Vegas still doesn't have a franchise center. They traded their Vezina goalie. Lehner is good but I don't think he'll get them far.
  18. As it was reported, there were about 12 teams interested. Did JB overpay? Possibly YES in order to get the guy they wanted. Maybe it was an extra year. Maybe it was that extra 500k. Who knows. At the end of the day we got a solid bottom 6 RHD. Tell me what other RHD Canucks should have targeted and at a cheaper price? As I mentioned before, I would have liked it better if it was $2M x 4yr. But we may not have gotten him at that price.
  19. Canucks (on paper) have a lot of depth now. Plus the Pacific division teams don't seem to have upgraded much either. So Canucks should be able to secure a spot.
  20. Yep. Heard that on the radio as well. Fringe NHLers/AHLers that are from Western Canada now have a good place to sign/play while taking in consideration of their families. It's awesome.
  21. I just want to hear all the JB haters complaining about the contracts. Lol.
  22. I like all these minor signings but where the hell are the EP, QH, OJ, and Dickinson signings???
