Canada has done well in getting people vaccinated. The daily new cases Canada wide is under 500/day. The 7 day avg is around 300. I think the Covid-19 resurgence in the USA is the main driver for the markets reactions. I also think Canada life will somewhat resume back to normal. The difference will be the lack of supply from countries still struggling with Covid-19.

[Trade] Canucks Trade for Dickinson from DAL for a 3rd.
BPA replied to aGENT's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
People need to calm down and also not over hype this trade. As far as I'm concerned, this is a win cuz we get a good cheap defensive young forward that can play now vs a 3rd round draft pick that may or may not make it in the NHL. Not sure if he's a 3C but at least a 4C (Cuz Beagle may still be on LTIR). For sure a bottom 6F. JB is not finished yet. Some more moves need to be made. -
[Report] Carey Price waives NMC for expansion draft

I can see SEA taking Price. Then trade pieces they got in the expansion draft to BUF to get Eichel. -
[Report] Canucks won’t protect Kole Lind
BPA replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Well if rumors were true... According to Dhaliwal, eight teams have made calls on Holtby, including the Seattle Kraken So Seattle could probably pick Holtby. Then flip him for a 2nd + prospect while retaining 50%. -

That'll be after the expansion draft. Lol. -

His last contract was $1.5M x 2yr. But it's a flat cap era so maybe he can get between $1-1.25M x 4yr? Not a bad price for a depth piece. -

Maybe a 3rd + prospect or just a 2nd 2022. -

What's the asking price? -
Yep. Here is a reminder of that bullying kid that Arizona drafted. https://www.google.ca/amp/s/www.tsn.ca/arizona-coyotes-renounce-rights-to-draft-pick-mitchell-miller-1.1545422%3ftsn-amp Can you just imagine the bad press Vancouver Canucks would get? But hey...he was a young stupid kid.

Can't believe some posters are defending the young man actions. The dude has effectively hurt the young women (18yr old at the time). This is and will forever be on the internet. And ruining the guys life? No. He did that himself. At no point is he entitled to a hockey career. Would those defending him be as supportive if it happened to your daughters, sisters, nephews, loved ones? It's a despicable act, regardless of how young he is/was.

According to the investigation report, Mailloux did not dispute the facts laid out in the case. So by his own admission...he did secretly record it. Mailloux was not arrested by Swedish Polisen. Mailloux was ultimately charged with both defamation and “Kränkande fotografering,” or offensive photography, and ordered to pay 14,300 Swedish krona, approximately $1,650 U.S. Dollars, by way of a criminal injunction that relieved the matter from the court system. Offensive photography became illegal in Sweden in 2013, banning secretly photographing or filming someone in a private place. The penalty is a fine or a maximum of up to two years in Sweden. ********** So glad that you want such a character guy on the Canucks. And it's 2021. Being young and stupid is no longer an excuse.

It's a big deal since it involves minors. Unless the girl in the pic is an adult.

[Proposal] Making more cap space.
BPA replied to Johnny Torts's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I guess. Cap space is a premium to all teams unless you pull a TB LTIR scam. Said it before. Ride out the bad contracts. Draft well. Get more prospects into the lineup to keep the ELC contracts flowing. -

From all the mock draft expansions... SEA will pick a prospect like Lind or Gadjovich. -

Maybe we can also make hockey trades... Schmidt to NYI for Mayfield + 2nd. That would be a cap savings of about $4M. NYI gets a D that can carry the puck. VAN gets a bigger RHD. -
Yup. Canucks need to just wait out 1 more year to get rid of the bad contracts. I'm sure next year's UFA crop will have some middle 6F and top 4D available. Only swing for the fences for premier #1 players (that fit the internal cap structure). For example...sign EP and QH to bridge deals. Then go hard after Landeskog if he's available (yeah...pipe dream). Other than that, draft well and develop from within (to keep the cheap ELC flowing).

Guess the rich owners have money to burn. Hopefully this reminds GMs that sometimes super long contracts are bad. Thankfully 8yrs is the max now. But even then that seems too long.

Nice. I like the top 9. Can mix and match to find the ideal line combo. The D needs fixing. Finding that RHD will be the challenge.
