  1. Season tickets will always be scooped up. I know a few businesses that have a couple of seats. They give them out as incentives, kickbacks, grease the wheels, etc. And I think they can claim a portion of it as a business expense.
  2. Honestly think it's FA pushing to make the playoffs every year instead of building a cup contender. Cuz that's $$ in his pocket and not the players. But like you said...
  3. Is there any UFAs that the Canucks would want?? I'm so done with JB overpaying (in $$ and term) for vets.
  4. Ugh. Buyouts are OK but really it's just one more year of pain to get out of the bad contracts. Unless it's buyouts to reduce the actual salary paid out. As for "aggressive in FA and trades", I'm not sure we can afford to lose depth/prospects now that we just rebuilt the prospect pool.
  5. I'm sure they'll make a deal with SEA for them to take local boy Johnson.
  6. Got my kid (12yr old) registered yesterday. Booked an appointment today. That's fast.
  7. Its password protected to activate the special ability. Password: MAGA.
  8. Right. I guess JB knows what he's doing after all. Lol.
  9. The butterfly effect? Who knows. The team could have done better, worse, or the same. Maybe even signing different UFAs. Also, the development of the players may not be the same trajectory in Vancouver cuz different coaches and systems.
  10. For Boeser, yes I believe you are correct that his Qualifying Offer is 7M based on the last year $$ amount. However, I believe there were some changes to the rules on QOs. So on new contracts, the QOs next time around would be based on the AAV. This was to close that unforeseen loophole (that the SJ player did).
  11. The range of an offersheet that gets back a 1st+2nd+3rd is about $6.5M-$8.7M. The offersheet would come after the NHL draft. So the picks would be for the 22/23 draft. If it's too high like $8M+, then I'd probably take the picks. Can't ruin any self imposed cap. As one poster said, he's like a Phil Housley. But it's a salary cap world.
  12. Yes JB failed the retool. Even I would admit that they should have traded all the vets (Sedins) for picks and start the rebuild sooner. But FA wanted to go for it one last time. But it became apparent that Sedins were a bit too slow for the ever faster game. Then the focus shifted to rebuild. It's like building a house and halfway building it, the owner wants to an extra bathroom here, a media centre there. It's gonna take longer before the house is completely finished.
  13. It was Roussel who said in the interview that the Canucks were in the thick of the last playoff spot prior to their week break. Then Covid happened and having to play 19 games in 31 days. Said it was unsustainable. Maybe 2 weeks at most but definitely not a month. The players were gassed and still getting back into game shape. So rather it is this season that is the anomaly.
  14. Did you think the Canucks were a bad team during last years playoffs?
  15. I'd be thrilled with EP and QH signing at that salary and term (better if 8yr).
  16. Cool. So I expect him to be signed after the tournament. We need him here next season. He's the Power Forward we all wished JV could have become.
  17. I think they are planning on getting the kids vaccinated in the summer prior to returning to school. Need to get the adults vaccinated first.
  18. So when can Podz sign a contract with the Canucks?
  19. Lol. How to be a NHL GM book for dummies. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes.
  20. I can agree with that. Draft well and develop well. You'd get to know your prospects in and out cuz they'd be under a microscope. The salary cap can be under control and maintain flexibility as you'd get constant incoming prospects at a cheaper rate. Better than overpaying UFA for their play/stats on other teams. I view as going into the UFA market/ trade deadline as a small add to boost a deep run into the playoffs. Rather than trying to hit a home run at a higher cap hit.
  21. I wonder if the Aquilini's want to keep top management positions within the family. Kinda like passing on the business to the next generation.
