[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season
BPA replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Canucks Talk
I think most can agree is that the Canucks needs to add sandpaper players that can play and throw down when necessary. Turning the other cheek to get a PP is not working. Especially if the PP sucks. We need to be a team that everyone hates to play against because we hit hard every time and finish our checks. Drop those gloves and go Gino Odjick on their ass. -
Some much needed cap space. Baertschi contract is gone. Spooner buyout is gone. Edler and Sutter at reduced payroll or gone.

Now Official - Canucks Lottery pick from 9th position
BPA replied to grandmaster's topic in Canucks Talk
Probably not. He's signed for another 2 years with SKA. So will be available 22/23. Kinda like how we had to wait on Podz (still needs to be signed ASAP). Not sure if the JB wants to wait that long for another top prospect to join the big club. But I wouldn't mind. It would hopefully signal that the Canucks are building through the draft. No shortcuts. -
[Rumour] Sam Reinhart open to a trade back to West Coast

Not sure. Sounds more like a lateral move for both teams. -

I would not be opposed to it if the price is right. -
[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season

It's a long and tedious process but I think drafting and developing from within is the course to be taken. Slow and steady. It ensures salary cap flexibility by not relying too much on overpriced UFAs. And if we make good on drafting and players develop well, then they can be trade bait if priced out of an internal salary cap structure. When the core is ready, maybe make a few trades to strengthen weak areas. But don't trade that 1st regardless of position (unless it's to get an exceptional player). But that's just my 2 cents. -
Quick. I need the Lotto Max numbers for this Friday.

[Report] Jim Benning to return for next season

So you agree that JB had absolutely nothing to begin with at the start of his tenure with the Canucks? So isn't it possible that some people are asking him to do the impossible in 7 years? Especially since it went from retool to rebuild. -

Lol. Ya I noticed that afterwards. Meant to also quote stawns. But too lazy to fix it. -

The owner pays the bills and should at least agree of some of the decisions. But come on...getting Torts was a bad idea. Wasn't it FA idea to get him? That's what I mean about meddling owner. -

No he hasn't. But you said don't use bad GMs to prove the point. So I'm asking you to show the good GMs that turned it around in 7 years. -

Well you're not wrong. It was clear that a rebuild was needed and it would have been better for Canucks to trade the Sedins and stockpile draft picks. So whomever was going to be GM was doomed to fail as (I think) FA is a meddling owner. But what's done is done. Wishe you well and on to hopefully a better season next year. -

So JB is a fool for following the owners wishes? The guy who pays the bills??? -

I wanted to trade the Sedins and go full rebuild but that didn't happen. I would think FA didn't give JB the go ahead to do that. If we did, the rebuild probably would have been faster (possibly even getting McDavid...lol) and we would be contending now with a young core and a bountiful of prospects. So why are you blaming JB for going along with the owners wishes? Or do you honestly believe FA would have approve trading the Sedins and go full rebuild mode? -

Forget it. None of them are willing to admit the goalposts moved from retool (when the team was still going for it with the Sedins) to rebuild (when Sedins retired). -

Shh... Stop destroying his talking point. -
[Rumour] Sam Reinhart open to a trade back to West Coast
BPA replied to a topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Reinhart is RFA. He made $5.2M on a 1yr contact. Correct me if I'm wrong but can't he file for arbitration? And aren't arbitration usually 1yr? And if so, wouldn't that make Reinhart a UFA after that contract? If BUF can't re-sign him to a long term contract, they have to trade him. I would think that any offers would require Reinhart to signing a contract to the team adding him. And Reinhart mentioned West coast as possible trading destination. So that already limits a few teams that he would consider going to. -
I'd take Eklund just so I can use the Eklund rating system. E5. Lol.
