Toddler found safe after 3 days lost in the woods
BPA replied to Mackcanuck's topic in Off-Topic General
No reason for a toddler to get lost in this situation. It sounds like there were multiple adults at this cottage. All it takes is one adult to leave the group and keep an eye on the kids. Edit. Misread article. I thought it was more adults present. But it doesn't specify. So don't know how many adults were at that vacation spot. -
Toddler found safe after 3 days lost in the woods

It was more like half paying attention to Adult conversations but always keeping an eye on the little ones. No more than 5-10 seconds of not spotting them. -
Toddler found safe after 3 days lost in the woods

It was inconvenient but certainly doable. I was the parent with one eye on the kids at all times. I made the conscious effort to keep an eye on them when outside of the house. -
Slightly off topic... There is a thing I recently learned called "Unconscious Bias" and it's in everyone. And is usually framed from your knowledge and experiences. Unconscious bias (or implicit bias) is often defined as prejudice or unsupported judgments in favor of or against one thing, person, or group as compared to another, in a way that is usually considered unfair. ... In contrast, deliberate prejudices are defined as conscious bias (or explicit bias). Unconscious or implicit bias refers to the associations that are made between different qualities and social categories such race, gender or disability and are judgements that are made without conscious awareness. These automatic preferences or stereotypes are a major contributor to a lack of workplace diversity. A common example would be a tech-heavy project – the unconscious bias may cause a manager to assume that a younger person would be more apt to handle this job as opposed to an older one.

The efficacy of AZ is supposedly 62%. Really low compared to Pfizer. Would rather wait and get the good stuff.

Think this was more about ELC bonuses be can paid for this season by making these moves instead of pushing it out to next season (thereby reducing the overall cap). Some posters in CDC mentioned about those bonuses in other threads.

[proposa] The Vancouver Canucks and Jeff Skinner
BPA replied to Patel Bure's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Skinner is currently 28yr old making $9M for the next 6 seasons after this one. So he'll be about 34yr by the time the contract expires. He only got 60+ pts three times in his career but looks to be a 25-30 goal scorer (got 40g in BUF in 2018-19). Don't think we want to go down the LE route again if his goal scoring ability dries up. Last year Skinner only got 14 goals. -
Probably because Churches running low on funds and needs people back to donate $$$$$$$.

On the radio this morning, guest speaker Drance mentioned that if Canucks can clear up about $5M cap space, and then place Ferland on IR, then the Canucks could pay the bonuses to QH (or something like that). Mentioned EP probably not getting it since he's unlikely to hit the targets. Specifically mentioned trading Pearson and Benn (in his example). So JB needs to make some trades to get more cap space for next season.

Wish they would bring back Riverview Hospital. Or at least a study to evaluate pro/cons/cost analysis.

(Rumour) Virtanen on the trade block
BPA replied to Wayne Glensky's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings

Rumor is BUF is looking for 4 x 1st for Eichel. And apparently there are 5 potential teams that are thinking about it. If BUF does trade Eichel, it would signal a full rebuild. In that case, I would target Reinhart and Risto. Doubt they would want to part with Dahlin. Or Canucks go all in and make that trade for Eichel (with BUF needing to take LE + to make the cap work). Lol.

Discussion: acquiring Wahlstrom/ Bellow cost
BPA replied to Freeridebc's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
If NYI really wants to go for it, I would entertain the thought of... Miller = Wahlstrom + Wilde Miller = Dobson + Wilde Something along this line of thinking. I would think Miller would want to go to a contender while still in his prime. And Canucks get young building blocks to add to the core. -

Basically Jake is a 3rd liner that can fill in the top 6 on spot duty. -
Rebuild Starts now? (proposals) (Long read)
BPA replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
If the idea is to also trade Hughes, I would target NJ. NJ is in the bottom 5-6 according to NHL Tankathon. So they have a good chance to draft Luke Hughes. A trade with Canucks can net all 3 brothers. Would be a marketing ploy. If NJ actually does draft Luke Hughes, maybe a trade like this... Hughes + LE + 3rd = Smyth + Holtz + 2nd Or something along this line of thinking. I like Quinn, but this year has exposed his defensive lapses.
